  1. Is it me or did this episode don a pastel-theme on the cast's wardrobe (even Wayne's striped socks had a little baby blue)? Even Aisha's pink jacket followed the color scheme and of course cuuuute. And I think periwinkle works very well on Jeff. Speaking of Jeff, do I need to clarify how he is the epitome of sexy out of the cast? So was it really necessary to add "Sexy" to his French Maid quirk when he already embodies that through his voice, his humor and charisma (and looks, of course)? :P Also, this episode proves how far Jeff has come. Given his role in Themed Restaurant shows how he can stand (or this case, sit) on his own with a celebrity guest and still be funny and sharp. To quote Actionmage, "See, show?" As for Themed Restaurant, good for the show to mix it up a little, as long as I don't have to see Living Scenery again for another 10-20 episodes. And Colin proves after carrying Jeff and Randy Couture in the last episode he's working out in the gym bench-pressing. Good for him. :) Eh. I thought Scenes from a Hat and Helping Hands were okay. My mind is still trying to escape after watching Kathie Lee Gifford's version. And everyone won agai- gosh, sometimes the show can become so repetitive. Once again, the formula and fun aspect of the show is its variety. So much for pandering in this grueling market. Anyways, a solid episode.
  2. Given it's a kids-oriented song, those kids had to be at least 12-13 years old to get away with saying "weed" and "asshole" in the song without their parents cowering in despair, shaking their heads and holding up the censor card. Because America. :) Also, I claim Eleanor Holmes-Norton as my spirit animal for standing up against Congress.
  3. Ok so there were some pros and cons to the special, even though it's mere intention is to present the winners. Pros: I really like that they'd stay true to their political roots by satirizing the special as an election with the categories as significant races. Lewis Black as the significant Anger Expert justifies why he totally fit Anger in "Inside Out". Jessica Williams taking the lead is a nice refreshing change, especially since she is the most senior out of the 3 in-house correspondents, and "Baby" Hasan (probably my nickname for him until they bring in more correspondents) reflects everyone's feelings about Jon's final week. Also, I thought after the clip before panning to Hasan, he was a shipper of Stewbert. And Cons: Yea, I'm with everyone saying that the "races" and the "winners" weren't great representations of Jonny-bun's 17-year legacy. Even the 2012-ish winners felt less nostalgic and more relevant. Like my fellow commenters, it needs more Bush and pre-Obama nostalgia. I feel like the Month of Zen was already a good time capsule of Jon's legacy, so this special was completely filler. But it doesn't matter, cuz we gotta cherish what's left of Jon starting tomorrow.
  4. For some reason, I have no problem with those images, except for the nostalgia of Stephen and Ollie-Scone who have already left Comedy Central, and Jonny-bun is next!! T_T Still can't believe this is the last week and the Month of Zen is more than halfway done with 2013...
  5. June 4, 2013: Brian Williams is on for the 93th time before Jon's sabbatical journey to Jordan filming Rosewater. Anyone wanna bet that he's gonna make a cameo on Jon's last show? June 6, 2013: Jon's last day before going to Jordan as well as handing the hosting chair to John Oliver. Anyone wanna bet (again) that the Month of Zen isn't gonna air any episodes with Ollie-Scone as the sub host? Update: Yeah, they skipped all of Ollie-Scone's episodes.
  6. You make a good point, possibilities. The whole time we've been dishing our expectations about who will attend Jon's final show, we've completely ignored the fact that Trevor Noah hasn't made an appearance (or even his own segment) since he was announced as the successor. Now I'm going to be VERY disappointed if he doesn't show up at some point of Jon's final week; otherwise, the chair's open for other eligible hopefuls. >_<
  7. So the schedule says that there won't be a Nightly Show, which is understandable and raising my assumptions that Larry and his crew who previously worked in TDS will drop by. ^_^ As for @midnight, they're gonna air a new episode after the 51-minute TDS with Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, Aubrey Plaza as the contestants. I wouldn't be surprised if Hardwick will say a few words before the show about Jon's impact to him.
  8. Ah 2012: the year everyone thought the year was going to end, a time where some focus audiences were attached to the Twilight series, and the worst year of high school by academic standards. Ah, I was so foolish back then. But at the same time, it was the year I'd decided to become a frequent watcher of TDS as the Presidential election reached its peak starting with the party conventions. It was great Jonny-bun was taking down the RNC's potential platform of sticking to racier extremes against Trump's ego. As for the first Republican debate, I pity the other selected 9 who'll have to deal with Trump. And Seth Rollins....yeah I didn't see that coming. Not him presenting the tributes, just him. At least he didn't strangle Jonny-bun. :)
  9. I'm seeing more pros, and opportunity than cons looking at the final guest list. On the one hand, it must be relieving for Jon to end his run by having comedians as the guests. Amy Schumer was a surprise to me since I initially doubted that she would never be on this show, Louis CK: I have no words, just pure awesome, and whoever previously posted his prediction that Denis Leary would be one of Jon's final guests should deserve a pat in the back. On the bright side, at least he didn't invite Adam Sandler as the final guest, and his latest flick Pixels is already striking an angry chord for some (all) audiences. Now I agree that it would be unfair if Stephen didn't show up as the last guest, but as I've stated many times before, it would be amazing just to see all of Jon's former correspondents/contributors return to bid adieu. I'm still holding on to Jon and Steve Carell's promise that a reunion would take place in the greatest of circumstances, and Jon's final show is no excuse to be ignored. Besides, they'll have to return the favor for all that Jon has done to spawn their individual careers/successes.
  10. Two things from that second segment: 1) They better do another segment because they barely covered the good questions from #JonStewartsAskHole feed, and probably glossed over my questions about Jpop and Kpop. 2) It would've been more hilarious if the Marry, Shag, Kill listed Hasan, Jordan and Jessica as the potential choices. I would've loved to see the pressure on Jon about choosing which of the current correspondents would be selected. Personally, I'd marry Jessica, shag Hasan and Jordan, and then kill Jordan. :P Speaking of Marry, Shag, Kill: Marry Larry, Shag Ollie-Scone, and then Kill Stephen, only to prove that he (the character) never dies, then shag him too.
  11. Yea, I find it very odd he starts his second to the last week of shows with an ISIS, after he obsessively covered a week full of Trump. Thank God Trump's yappity-yapping vapid mouth is cooling down as we hit into August. To be honest, I think Jon expressed more clarity and emotion during that Huckabee segment. Truly a magnifying feat to get your (and everybody else's) reactions across without uttering a coherent word. Personally, I'd side someone's argument based on their initial nonverbal feedback. Some guy named David McCullough, an underwhelming guy who is a 2-time Pulitzer Prize winner, author, historian, and speaking know-it-all who graduated from Yale promoting a book on the even more underwhelming legacy of the Wrights' Brothers. Truly an antithesis to Ted Cruz. At first I was a little disappointed Cruz couldn't show himself physically on TDS, but in the end, his cowardly cop-out proves that Jon just won. That Cruz, nor any Republican contender from the campaign would dare step into Jon's territory is proof that he is impenetrable and a genuine feat only few of his opponents can surpass. Now if that cop-out can happen again on tomorrow's show with Tom Cruise then the world is in balance.
  12. iMonrey, I feel like you I share the same thoughts about Jon's obsession with Donald Trump, and that he is taking the safer departure by calling out his absurdities and the reactions of his opponents. But now that I think about it, perhaps Jon's obsession reflects why the media is attracted to "shiny things", and why decency is less significant. It kinda reminds me of something shiny, diamonds; the "cleaner and bigger" the gem, the brighter it reflects on those attracted to its value. Trump's "larger than life, no-holds-back" ego is considered a diamond journalists yearn to stuff into their pockets, a rival to his opponents' past absurdities, and irony for Jon as the complete foil to Trump. Jon's obsession reminds me that outside all the talk shows and media outlets, there are people who are reasonably decent and even though they don't shine brightly as Trump nor are they hungry for attention, they are called by their passions and beliefs to make a difference. Perhaps that is one factor that Jon has decided to retire and work in an animal shelter/farm. Charitable foundations and special programs do not attract the media's attention frequently, but you don't need the media to tell you that there is charity and decency present in society. That is why I'm frustrated the media (and I guess Jon but he's in Trump ecstasy) doesn't spotlight enough on people who do make decent, reasonable points without the spotlight overwhelming their ideals. For people like Park Yeon Mi, a North Korean defector and human activist, or even Sandra Bland, an African-American woman trying to norm with society, they deserve to have their stories heard, but we can't depend on the media to tell us to. This is also why I'm glad they brought Ta-Nehisi Coates on to the show. He made some good points on his argument about racism and subjugation, and even though I didn't always agree about everything he said, I can acknowledge his decency and passion about his experiences. So I say to you, iMonrey as well as everyone who is sick of Jon covering Trump's absurdities, lighten up. I know we can't force Jon to cover repetitive, socially-norming issues like gun shootings, race, even the presidential campaigns, but hopefully we can acknowledge that outside the news networks, society is normalizing decency and we have the task of looking deeper for the real, genuine diamonds. I hope that makes any sense. :P
  13. If TDS is serious about booking Ted Cruz in his final 2 weeks, the final payoff better end with Jon schooling Cruz. And seriously, 2 guests promoting M:I spin-off Vol. #468? yawn... I'd rather hear from JJ Abrams cuz I've already heard enough from Cruise (and I just realized Cruz and Cruise phonetically beside each other. Coincidence, no?). Oh, I have a feeling TDS is saving the best for last. And just like what Victor the Crab said about Denis Leary, I think Jon deserves better if he wants a very good final week and to be sent off properly by bringing all his friends and alumni and showing gratitude for his influence will be the cherry on top. Let's hope it won't be cut abruptly kinda like what happened at the end of Obama's final interview. I'm just saying, Jon should embrace the love and heartfelt messages everybody's giving him while it lasts. T_T
  14. I've been having this pet peeve of Aisha always choosing all 4 of them as the winner since the beginning of the revival, but you made a good point about the 'points' format, Actionmage, and that the important part of the show is the games, which is already botched the moment the show decided to constantly bring celebrity guests. I've made my argument about this before, and I'm glad they switched up the games but just slightly last episode, but I feel like the set-up of games focused on the guest makes the spontaneity of the audience become repetitive. It's becoming obvious for viewers like me to know which games they will eventually play every, single time and it becomes a boring show. If any of the producers ever bother to read this post (I highly doubt it), the original formula of the US version was already strong enough to bring an audience and didn't have to be changed. Here, it's nearly a repetition of the same games that take away the spontaneousness that makes Whose Line live up to the status quo. With that out the way, I'm glad they brought back Doo W**, though I'd wish they would switch Ryan with Jonathan. I'm not saying Ryan has a terrible voice, but having the same three people who played Living Scenery before this is taking away the credibility of Jonathan's musical improvising. Also, I really wanna hear Jonathan sing some more and hit the upper register with the notes. Speaking of Jonathan, glad he saved that grudge on Wayne from Duet onto Scenes from a Hat to lay a path for the final punchline: his wife. Very supportive of her to watch him from the audience. And I think Weird Newscasters has grounded my theory that Ryan is overly-attached to Laura's piano. Colin better watch his back cuz I smell some new competition, just saying. So yeah, good episode, but still doesn't have enough of that Mindf#@k aftershock after watching Kathie Lee's episode.
  15. Wow, already jumped to July 28, 2008, and that one segment with Rob Riggle and Ollie-Scone doing a double-piece on the Oil Crisis. I feel like anyone you pair Ollie-Scone with result in something ingenious and hilarious, though I still prefer him working with Jason Jones. Riggle/Oliver shippers can call me out if they'd like to.
  16. And now it's February 4, 2008: The build-up into the Late Show Battle Royale stunt begins with Stephen and Conan dropping by. Just 7 epic minutes of fake conflict.
  17. Now it's October 16, 2007: the day Stephen gave his prelude to running for President of the United States of South Carolina on TDS. Man, I miss their joint appearances on each other's shows. And now we're entering into the period of "A Daily Show"... Alright, even though I wasn't a full-fledged TDS viewer until 2012, 2008 was perhaps the finest year for TDS and my personal favorite, not just because of Jon, Indecision 2008, or Obama when he became Presidential Elect, but for all the butt-jokes the news networks' brought for branding their intrepid correspondents, coverage, and high-tech hijinks that spawned more attention to "The Best F@%#Kin' News Team Ever". It was also the year I was first exposed to Jon, Stephen, AND Conan (when NBC loved him) when they pulled off that Late Night Show Battle Royale over Huckabee during the Writer's Strike.
  18. Oct. 1, 2007: Naw... Arrived just in time to watch the future hosts of "Last Week Tonight" and "The Nightly Show" do a piece together on the Republicans trying to pander to the African Americans during the 2007-08 presidential campaign. What an unlikely, adorable pair made for greater things.
  19. Alright, Actionmage, I see what you mean about Kathy Lee trying too hard to be hip, but what I think made this episode work is that Kathy Lee was very willing to participate, though I question if she has a pre-ritual of drinking anything before going on camera. Forcing Brad to submit under her whims without almost breaking during Duet really set the tone of Brad's jokes the rest of the episode. And is it me or is Kathy Lee infatuated with Brad due to his steadfast, unbreakable demeanor? As for Helping Hands, Kathy Lee is a good foil to last week's Penn and Teller, not just by staying to help Ryan clean up, but dragging Brad and Wayne into the game. I can see why Brad expressed his fantasies (and future restraining orders) about Kathy Lee on Twitter; also, he's definitely gonna have some explaining to do with his wife. >_< I've heard around the net that Kathy Lee's appearance and participation is paralleled to Richard Simmons' episode; I, for one, don't think it outmatches Simmons'; however, I do think this episode is worth re-watching, mostly just so I can watch Brad's expressions. As for Brad, he wasn't moderately used but wasn't underused, either. In fact, I believe Brad is the only person that still sticks out in my mind giving me the most laughs this episode, even though he technically didn't make the punch line. Perhaps Kathy Lee is doing a favor dragging Brad into everything and giving him plenty of attention.
  20. Yeah, I'm on the defense as well. Not sure if Kathie Lee's inebriated reputation will bring an advantage or hindrance to the episode. Then again, they are bringing back Dead Bodies so don't expect a lot of dialogue...or movement during the game.
  21. I second that. Helping Hands would've been average if it weren't for Penn and Teller handcuffing Colin's hands then making a dash. Gary is doing a lot better than in previous seasons, and I think it's partially because he's more self-motivated. I think losing that weight made a huge difference and I'm happy for him. And if I do declare, he and Keegan nail down the lucky, hopeful, sassy female seamlessly in Let's Make a Date.
  22. April 22, 2002. I'm surprised they haven't uploaded clips from this episode. Stephen Colbert busting his French language in a noir setting is so.... sexy. And now it's May 14, 2002, A.K.A., the TDS 'reunion' episode. It's gonna be inception once the past correspondents, staff and guests will return to salute Jon and his legacy in the final weeks. I wonder if Stephen is still not fond of this masturbatory event. Unlike this 'reunion show' parody, the REAL reunion will bring me to tears. Y_Y
  23. Personally, I'm impartial to the possibilities, but considering the divisive outlooks from both parties, it feels like it'll take a while for homosexuals to be accepted into both parties, not to gain votes but to participate in politics at a high position, unless there is a homosexual working in either party. It's been 100+ years since the Women's Suffrage gave gender equality, but it seems like we've barely progressed with more female candidates. I'm just glad Hillary is representing no matter how much the media drags her down. And that other Republican woman running, I forgot her name. -_- I'm a little disappointed no one has mentioned Bree Newsome's interview. And to be fair, she's more impactful than any of the whiny Republicans. Queen Bree sounds like a good title to her next to her real name.
  24. Damn, TDS making fun of the delayed reception in Afghanistan, just like our field reports are doing today. Classic. And making fun of Stephen for his two-sided opinion about Mayor Giuliani just made me laugh. :P
