I drank heavily and forced myself to watch the second half of the episode. Kody thinking he's an alpha male because the dog pees on him when he visits Meri is hysterical. I'm pretty sure Meri trained the dog to pee on Kody so mark him as hers so Robyn's smells it when he goes home. And Robyn claiming that Kody has PTSD from the catfishing incident is just ridiculous, and offensive to real PTSD sufferers everywhere. I wish someone would just acknowledge that Meri was looking for another man to replace Kody because their marriage sucks and he divorced her anyway, and that it's okay to do that given that Kody has no problem being with 3 other women. And if Kody can sit in a lawn chair in Meri's driveway, why can't he do that at Janelle's house too??? Also, if Robyn's family and Christine's family are both quarantining and Kody is going back and forth, there is no reason why Truely, Ariella, and Solomon can't play together. Except for Robyn's controllingness and paranoia. Also, Kody's nasty comments about teenagers that were totally meant to be directed at Gabe and Garrison, who are his own kids. I hate these people.

Mariah spent most of her teenage years watching her parents fame whore for money and attention. If she told her mother on national television to up the drama for attention, that's on Meri and Kody for teaching her that it's acceptable to do that to someone if it makes for good television. I mean, how many times are we going to watch Kody belittle Meri in the talking head interviews? Humiliating Meri seems to have become a bit of a sport for certain people. But Meri has the means to leave and may only be staying for the show, so whatever. I only watched the first half of the episode because I have to work up the stamina to get through the second half, but did Christine do a drive-by for Garrison's birthday, while Kody didn't come to the house at all?? I turned it off while Christine was in the car and after Kody said something about not going to Janelle's for Garrison's birthday. Did Kody not even drive by the house? Is he that much of an asshole?

If they were really religious and interested in living the Principle, they would be devastated that none of their 18 kids want to live the Principle, and they would be completely unaccepting of a gay daughter getting married to another woman. I have no clue what the real motivation is behind the forming and continuation of this polygamous family, but it's not devout religious belief.

I don't understand why Meri is even in Flagstaff at this point. The jig is up. She and Kody have no relationship, and everyone in America knows it because they've admitted it. Meri's only daughter is moving to Utah, and she has a business in Utah and another business that she can do from anywhere. I don't know why she doesn't get the hell out of there. It's so obvious that she only sees Robyn occasionally and the other two wives not at all. She and Kody are divorced. Other than needing to keep up the charade, why stay in Flagstaff?

I think I feel worse for her than anyone else on this show. She just looks so consistently miserable. It's obvious that she never wanted this, and that the husband and the second wife are running everything. In this day and age, I don't understand why some of these women don't just leave.
-
What always strikes me about this show is how much most of the first wives have been forced/manipulated into agreeing to a polygamist marriage. I feel bad for that woman who is actually getting divorced so her husband can marry some other chick from another country. Won't immigration catch on to that scam? I assume the first wife isn't moving out of the house, and now they're even declaring their fraud on television. I'm tired of the Snowdens and their obvious fame-whoring. I don't know how they keep making the cut on this show, season after season. I thought it came out on last season's tell-all that she only married them to be on television, and that she was never really into it to begin with. But I could be remembering wrong.

I only made it through half the episode. This happened to me last season too. It gets harder and harder to listen to them babble about nothing. It is painfully obvious that Kody knows very little about the personal lives of each of his 18 kids. Gabe has a girlfriend who he is spending all his time with and Kody didn't even know. This reminds me of the Duggars. I bet it's even worse with the youngest kids like Truely. That being said, Gabe's attitude about the pandemic annoyed the crap out of me.
-
Regardless of anyone's beliefs about what Gabe and Garrison should have been doing during the pandemic, it would be ridiculous for them to change their behavior for a guy who is planning to wander through their house maybe once a week, and who bitches about having to make time for the visit at all. And also, I don't know why I never noticed before what a passive mother that Janelle is. It says something that she won't take action to control her children living in her own house that she pays for, whether they are legally adults or not.

Maybe Aurora has to stay in quarantine because of Sol's RSV and almost hospitalization 5,000 years ago. It wouldn't surprise me.

If Tammy's mom had just insisted on giving her a normal sized plate to eat off of instead the massive plate of obesity, Tammy would have lost a 100 pounds in a week.

I get what you're saying, but I really think the crying is more manipulation than hormones. I think they think that crying ramps up the drama, when it's really just annoying. This is a show about nothing, but not in a good way like Seinfeld. I noticed that they showed some older pictures of Audrey, when she appears to be much thinner than she is now. I wonder if she gained weight after starting to date Mariah. I have a friend who started gaining weight when she was dating someone who was much larger and ate a lot more. Or it could just be weight gain after leaving college and starting to work 8 hours a day, which is what happened to me.

I watched the episode last night. I can't believe we are 5 episodes into this season, because absolutely nothing has actually happened. Why does this family cry so much over nothing, all the time? It's not like Kody was going off to war. I didn't see anyone for a month and I didn't cry like that. I understand the worry and the confusion, but the crying is over the top. It sounds like Janelle's kids want to keep working and seeing friends. In a normal family, Janelle and Kody would discuss that and make rules. But Janelle is really a single parent, so she did it herself and then Kody complains. And Kody marries 4 women of his own choice, then bitches that he has to make time to visit them all. Seriously. I'm sure Christine plunges that toilet the other 6 days of the week when Kody's not around. This whole season should be called "Kody Complains, Everyone Else Cries".
-
All I could think of during the Great Toilet Paper Crisis of 2020 was how those people on Extreme Couponing who everyone made fun of were laughing their asses off right now. I now have a toilet paper tower of my very own. I wonder if they're going to reveal that Kody basically quarantined at Robyn's the whole time, or if they are going to try to hide it. My father would never have allowed me to drive cross country like that at that age during a pandemic with only one other person helping. Kody is not a good father. We have never really seen him going out of his way for one of his kids. He just has 18 kids in a huge pile.

At the very beginning of the pandemic, they were telling people not to wear masks. When I went to get groceries on the craziest shopping day ever, almost no one was wearing a mask. This was filmed last March, before masks became a thing. Janelle had skin cancer. She announced it recently on Instagram.

They may have put on a better show during season 1. OR, TLC told them to ramp up the drama to avoid getting cancelled. The Bravo network is famous for telling the reality show "participants" that if there isn't enough drama, they'll be fired. I wouldn't be surprised if TLC doesn't do the same. Sad as it is, nobody really wants to watch your happy family do laundry. They want to watch someone go after their fiance with a machete (Teen Mom reference).

So Christine is parenting 10+ kids downstairs, while her husband is hanging out upstairs in the peace and quiet. And he can't figure out why she has deep resentments. He is really is an asshole.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if Dumb and Dumber actually did this though. It might be their misguided interpretation of being "woke" and thinking wedding dresses are oppressive. I also didn't realize that Christine got such a crappy wedding, and then Robyn got a huge celebration after Kody dated Robyn while Christine was pregnant. Do they think this show makes them look good to anyone??
-
I finally finished watching the episode. I thought Christine and Roby had a really nice conversation, which was a nice change. I did feel like Robyn was actually listening, though I doubt anything will change. All those years of bullshit therapy with Nancy the polygamist lover, and Kody and Meri still concentrated on the logistics of where Kody should shower, instead of the feelings behind what Christine was saying. Both them took a sharp detour around Christine's plea for attention from her husband and instead picked away at exactly where Kody showered each day. And now that Kody knows the real reasons why Christine doesn't want to share a house, is he going to have an adult conversation with her about it? Nope. I heard so many people on this thread mention Mariah and Audrey wanting to wear rompers to their wedding, but I never heard it mentioned during the episode. It would be absurd to get married in that castle wearing a freakin' romper, but I wouldn't put it past them. And I'm so over the COVID storylines on reality shows. Or maybe I'm just over COVID in general.
-
I think each of the original 3 wives has a list of resentments a mile long. I think the entire situation was worse than we even know. Think about it: Christine trying to parent at least 10 kids at one time. While on food stamps and watching Meri live like a King. And while dealing with Janelle, who seemed to love working but not so much parenting. And an absent Kody, who she maybe gets to have once every 3 nights. I don't know who in their right mind signs up for this lifestyle. And Christine is the most vocal in trying to convince us how great polygamy is.
-
If you read their book, it was never as good as those initial episodes tried to make it appear. Janelle had moved out for several years, and Meri was always horrible. And someone else said Christine was actually on food stamps for a while. It may have seemed more blissful when there were lots of cute babies arriving every year, but it was never a great marriage.
-
I think Janelle and Christine could have a pretty good marriage. They seem the closest among the wives, and they have a good dynamic. Christine likes staying home with kids, and Janelle (at least she used to) like working. They make a good couple. Far better than any of them and Kody.
-
I would have changed my phone number and gone on with my life. I would have done that after the therapy appointment last season. He doesn't live with her or stay at her house, and they have no relationship at this point. And they're not raising any minor children together. Just move on. It's pathetic. Even if this is staged for the show, it is lower than I hope I would ever go. I would say the same thing to Christine and Janelle. There is no relationship. Have we even seen him touch Janelle or Christine this season? And I second whoever called bullshit on Robyn trying to claim she doesn't see Kody much either. He is living at Robyn's house. The Instagrams pretty much tell the story that Kody is not at any of the other wives' houses. Also, wouldn't Meri already know why they don't want to give her control of the pond? They talked about it last season, and I'm assuming that Meri would have watched that episode. Why are they still pretending it's a big secret?
-
I'm thinking the wedding plans got put on hold because of Covid. And I'm glad to see the Browns taking the pandemic at least a little seriously, unlike the Duggars who think the blood of Jesus will protect them from dying (it didn't keep Grandma Duggar from drowning in the swimming pool though). They have a core following, and are probably pretty cheap to produce. There will be at least one more season. And probably some custom Discovery+ content. They are going to milk this cow for a while.
-
I blame Meri because she could easily leave but she's not, and I think she totally gets off on playing the victim. The only reason someone would lower themselves to having a sister wife mediate their "marriage" is if they secretly like the attention. Same thing with the indecision about fertility treatments. She could have tried to have more kids, but she'd rather sit in a pity puddle.
-
I watched the episode last night. Meri is doing the same thing with the trees that she did with fertility treatments and Robyn's offer of surrogacy. Meri won't make a decision, and she pulls the offended/upset act anytime someone tries to force her to make a decision because time is running out and her indecision is affecting other people. I try to feel bad for Meri, but she's just so awful. Kody is an asshole, and it's obvious that Kody and Robyn have only real marriage in this group at this point. Kody only likes Janelle because she never asks for anything and doesn't expect him to act like a real husband. Who drives all the way back to Utah from Nevada with a dying dog?????? And did you notice Kody didn't cry any real tears in his talking head interview? And they all need to stop trying to sell us on polygamy. Nobody is buying that shit.
