lembergwatcher November 22, 2020 Share November 22, 2020 Spike and Andrew - You know, as they say, "what's meant to be will find the way" 🙂 Jenny and Wesley - I've never thought about it, but... nice 😁 Giles and Drusilla - They deserve each other. Jonathan and Harmony - Yes please. Buffy and Cordelia - Right there with ya. Joss should've explored this possible plot line. Faith and Dawn - Two thumbs up. Angel and Anya - They deserve each other. Willow and Riley - Or Willow and Percy. You know, those long hours of tutoring... Kathy and Tara - Nice. Xander and Hogan - No. Fucking. Way. Xander & Fred? Why not? Still better than Anya. Xander & Amy. Xander & cousin Beth. Xander & Lily. Xander & Lilah. A couple of my suggestions: Joyce & Dracula; Giles & Gwen Post; Faith & Electro!Gwen; Faith & Joyce; Andrew & Chao-Ahn... But talk about low bars to clear… Quote Xander & Amy. Possibly, but I didn't the feeling they much liked each other. And then there's the "rat" phase, and the "deranged-witch" phase. Quote Xander & cousin Beth. Xander & Lily. Xander & Lilah. He never even met two of them. And he never spoke to Beth, or vice versa. I try to keep at least one foot in the realm of possibility. (Yes, Jenny never met Wesley, for obvious reasons. But since the AU where they did meet is easy to construct [Jenny does her decrypting from her computer at HOME, which is probably best just from the "keep it away from Snyder's prying eyes" viewpoint, never mind the more-tragic aspects], I'm okay with that.) I mean, if you're opposed to ANY m/m 'ships for Xander, that's one thing. But you'd have to argue with a lot of fanficcers on that. Not to mention the show's own tendency to do Gay Xander Jokes on a recurring basis. (He literally requests that Willow change his preferences at one point, let's recall.) So I'll take Xander chasing a hot jock over his hooking up with a bigot, a thicko (yeah, yeah "Anne" evolves on the spinoff, but still) or someone as evil as Lilah. (it wasn't exactly a moral high point for Wesley, either.) But JMO. Link to comment

I guess he prefers "cooler", more "sporty" types like Larry. OTOH, maybe you're right... And if by "bigot" you mean Beth, what exactly makes her a bigot? Disliking disgusting demons? There are lots of fans who accuse Xander of bigotry towards the supernatural too. If that's the case, then X/B clearly have a common denominator. 9 hours ago, Halting Hex said: or someone as evil as Lilah He dated ANYA for three friggin' years. And Lilah is a girl scout considering Miss Jenkins' past track record. Compared to Anya most of F/A/B/L/L shortcomings seem quite tolerable. 9 hours ago, Halting Hex said: it wasn't exactly a moral high point for Wesley Did he have any moral high points at all? Besides, arrogant people should stick together. Actually I wasn't surprised when W/L started making beast with two backs. Edited November 23, 2020 by lembergwatcher Link to comment

Now you see I always think Joyce DID get it on with Dracula. Plus there was that Christmas Faith sent at the Summers' house, romantic snow, a roaring fire, Buffy out of the house with Angel... 1 Link to comment

And then there's the "rat" phase, and the "deranged-witch" phase. Yes, but Xander and Cordelia didn't seem to like each other at the beginning either. And I don't think he and Anya really liked each other deep inside. Then the AU where Willow, who was able to do something as complex as Ritual of Restoration, had more chances to succeed in turning Amy back into a human is quite easy to construct too. "Deranged-witch"? Bad, but not as much as a 1100-y. o. (ex-)vengeance demon, I'd say. 8 hours ago, Halting Hex said: I mean, if you're opposed to ANY m/m 'ships for Xander, that's one thing. But you'd have to argue with a lot of fanficcers on that. Well, I'd like to argue with fanficcers on many things. But it's not about "opposing" m/m 'ships for Xander. It's kinda hard for me to imagine Xander with a guy since after Jesse's demise he didn't even have any close male friends he knew as long and good as Willow. Giles was more of a "father figure" (crappy father figure, but obviously better than Harris Sr.), who expressed disdain for Xander on many occasions. Oz only tolerated the other guy because his girlfriend had a history with him way back (besides eating Xander could've made Willow unhappy). Same thing with Riley: he kinda liked Xander and tolerated him as one of Buffy's friends, but hardly considered X a true friend, not to mention object of desire. Larry? Maybe, but still... personal issues from the past. Jonathan? Quite possible but only in the Superstar-verse. There are lots of fanfiction writers who 'ship Xander with Angel or Spike or with Angel and Spike, but I can't imagine Xander sleeping with someone he didn't trust. Then there's a whole vampirephobia thing. Robin? They didn't even exchange a dialogue IIRC. Andrew? Oh, come on... Wesley's too old for him. And Xander didn't even meet either Gunn or Lorne. 9 hours ago, Halting Hex said: He literally requests that Willow change his preferences at one point, let's recall. And shags Anya two eps later. (Even with Willow's "the dark can get kind of dark" bit that was cut after the original airing; Chanterlily had sulked away by then, thanks to Angel.) But still, I should have remembered that.
