This is for the Amazon Prime drama/soap/wedding procedural about two wedding planners in New Delhi.  Their lives, their customers and the weddings!

Here's the trailer (but I'd skip the trailer.  It doesn't do the show justice and there may be some spoilers in it.)

I'm responding to this question:

Kind of a spoiler alert but they never say how the two know each other in the first season.  He grew up with more money than she did so it's unlikely they were childhood friends.  I hope we get a new season so we can find out.

Okay good. I didn't miss anything then. Usually the first few episodes of shows are hard for me because it takes me a while to sort out who's who and get names down and so forth.

Ooh! This looks interesting! As someone who is Indian herself, I liked the trailer! And they got the subtitles right! And Indian shows/soaps in India are SOAPY in nature!

And the outfits look GORGEOUS! I’m a sucker for Lenghas!😊

But I’m partial to the music from the Golden era, and think current Bollywood  music is crap but I’ll reserve judgment until I watch.

I'm enjoying the stories, but mostly marvel that all the women on the show -- main cast, guest actors, mothers, children, wait staff, people standing in the background -- are straight up gorgeous.

Most of the men are attractive, but they a few old codgers slip in for reality.

I don't know much about the different eras of Bollywood music but I think this sounded more old school to me.

I finished the whole series in about three days, it's that good.  (I also wrote old-school longform recaps on my website, if anyone is interested) The music is mostly new stuff, past 10 years basically, but it only plays in the background, there's no full "song sequence".  It's what you would expect, the stuff that would be playing at a wedding dance party.

I was hoping for some big name cameos, but I think the biggest name was Deepti Naval in episode 3.  All the actors in roles large and small were amazing, but it might have been fun to see some really big names pop-up.  Maybe next season.

There is a very quick flashback in a later episode to Tara at a house party and Karan DJing, she asks him to play some "Bollywood" music, he makes fun of her taste but does it because she tells him it is her birthday.  There's no clear time period for the scene, no idea if it was a year before the show started or 10 years.  Hopefully the next season goes into more detail about how they went from there to being friends.

Ha. Big name cameos would be lost on me but I did think everyone was pretty excellent.

Yaaaay!  Everything they write is great, I can't wait to see what they do with Made in Heaven season 2.  Although I am also a little sad that they won't be doing more movies, their last film together was brilliant and almost feels like a companion piece to Made in Heaven, only focusing entirely on Jazz's world and only seeing the wealthy world from a distance.  It's called Gully Boy and it will probably be on Prime if it ever stops running in theaters (2 months and still going)

I don’t have all the names down yet (on episode 2), but when they PI found out the bride had lasik eye surgery and an abortion, my first thought was “tell the parents it was the groom’s”. 
 

Our male protagonist- he’s got a gambling problem, sports? Lottery? Cards? He needs to pay those people, they are dangerous.

Let me get this- Karan, our male protagonist, his old friend from school who he had a fling with and now lives in the states is marrying his other (female) friend with the curly hair Bubbles?

 

I am so glad Karan told Bubbles- it was the right thing to do  the guy was a jerk. If he wanted a beard (I understand that) at least INFORM the woman wtf.

Faiza is sleeping with Tara (our female protagonist’s) husband? I’m not blaming Faiza for the affair (she’s not the married one), but why is it always that the woman on the side is so surprised when the married guy is nice to his wife, or has sex with her or buys her gifts etc etc. I’ve noticed when men are the ones “on the side” they are never surprised when married people have sex. 
 

Whats embarassing about elderly people getting married? Aren’t they both widowed?

 

Wait wait Karan’s landlord has a camera in his BEDROOM?? This is too much. Too much!

Poor poor Tara to find out about her husband’s affair like that. And with her FRIEND no doubt. Karan was quick with his cover to not embarrass her in front of her in laws. Tara’s husband is a cheating jerk (and I am so not in his side), and although I can see how Fairza would be emotionally vulnerable after leaving her abusive marriage, it was shitty to have sex with her friend’s husband after they took her in and helped her out. 
 

Do we know what Karan was going to jail for and his Mom begged his Dad to pay the fine? I assumed he had a gambling problem at first, but now I’m thinking he was caught with a guy before the same sex laws were thrown off the books and his Mom was trying to protect him. But why would he borrow money from the street?? That’s a bad idea!

Yes they are but I was speaking with someone I work with who is from India (although his family doesn't live there any longer) and we were talking about remarriage for women and apparently, for some, once the woman is married, she is married for her life even if her husband dies.  I guess men don't have the same expectation surrounding them.

Her decision is kind of intriguing.  It has been a while since I watched so maybe my memory is fuzzy but she was not only Tara's friend but in many ways, she helped Tara land Adil by taking her under her wing.  I also got the sense that she could have had Adil if she wanted him but instead chose to marry her abusive ex.  But maybe you're not quite there yet.  My impressions are based on some subtle things.

@Irlandesa thanks for responding to me! I know I’m kind of having a discussion by myself but I like to get it out there. 
 

Yes I think with Fairza she was so emotionally damaged by her abusive marriage she’s clinging to something, and she probably has low self esteem after what that guy did (which of course was not her fault!); and somewhere in her head this is a “better choice” than her abusive ex (which it is, but still). I’m on Episode 5. 
 

The Landlord’s wife was eating candy in distress. That was funny/not funny. Dude if you want to watch male/male porn just do that, don’t violate basic human decency by SPYING on your tenant!!

Oh no he didn’t- Adil did not just talk to Tara that way!!! Firstly, Tara didn’t just show up and trash her house, the woman was consistently texting her and being a PITA. No it wasn’t right what Tara did but if anyone is the “least wrong” it was Tara. It’s was a few mirrors, she didn’t hurt anyone or do any major damage. Shut up Adil- you’re letting YOUR lack of class show. You were fucking her friend repeatedly and only got caught because you were in an auto accident, she is not psychotic for being upset. 
 

Poor poor Karan. I was so glad he wasn’t raped in prison (although of course being beaten was completely awful).* He didn’t do anything, and that shit bag landlord was so scummy and insecure about his own sexuality he was using Karan for free porn, got caught, and then risked Karan’s life to save face. How could he be so selfish??? 
 

So it seems Adil was seeing someone else** when he started fucking around with Tara. Granted I do believe a boyfriend/girlfriend is not a spouse, but how you get them is how you will lose them honey! 

 

Adil is punk though. I’m still so mad at him. He doesn’t want Faiza, he just wants attention, and to have his cake and eat it too. Tara’s mom was likely right though, Adil won’t leave Tara. Faiza is Muslim and divorced, she’s always going to be the other woman. Faiza stop!!!! No it’s not fair the “other woman” always suffers more, but you’re not helping your life by staying attached to Adil. 

*Karan was raped in prison, we just dont see it. On the rewatch with my Mom we saw that he told Nawab during their time in the bathtub.

**he was engaged!! Seems like this is a pattern for him. Find women with low self esteem and have them stroke his ego. 

 

Karan is being very brave now, but I can believe how badly he feels for how he treated his friend/classmate.

Very early in the year/end of last year, Amazon India put out a "coming up in 2020" promo with its Indian shows.  Made In Heaven wasn't part of the promo. When I saw this article, published in Jan of this year, it made sense.  It listed Jan of 2021 as the release date with an April/May shooting date.  This was pre-COVID.

And I saw an interview with the actor who plays Karan saying he didn't know when they'd start filming, especially since it's about weddings and there was originally an international aspect to the stories.  *sigh* It sounds awesome.

What I love about this show is that everything that happens is kind of predictable but predictable only because the characters were so well defined.  So I don't think I was surprised by the time I learned this.

In regards to the bolded part,  I developed complex feelings about all of the main characters, not just those in the triangle.  In many ways, they could be considered victims of something or someone and yet in others, they're very much architects of their own misery.

She was right to pack her things and try to go. This marriage is fucked, built on dishonesty and lies. Best cut your losses before you had a baby.

I really liked this show! I loved the subplot with each of the weddings!!! I can’t wait for it to come back. 
 

 @Irlandesa can you please tell me WHAT Karan had to borrow money from his parents for? I thought the police threw out the sodomy charge against him? Was there a charge before the start of the series?

Thank you for clarifying- I appreciate it. This show is so good! I love Karan & Tara’s friendship. I loved when she dumped the jewels on the table “we will survive”.

I don't remember, exactly, but I think he was borrowing money to keep the business going.  And he may have gotten himself into trouble borrowing from the street people.

Yep.  And I remember predicting that maybe an ep before it happened because of how carefully I felt they developed their characters.  Once we saw how much it meant to her to improve her caste, and how smart she was, it made complete sense to me that she organized more than just the affair.

The shot of her, in the bathtub, covered in jewels was one of my favorite shots on TV ever.

It was already going to be over a year in between seasons, then COVID hit and I know some shows that had been renewed got the ax for financial reasons.  I even read a rumor (but not a serious one--just in a comments thread on YouTube) that this was one of them but there was no official news and whenever it was mentioned, the news articles spoke as if it were still happening.

I think I read that the first season was quite popular so I was hoping the rumor was just someone misunderstanding.  I'm glad to see that appears to be the case.

I know!  I keep checking Twitter for updates and there's nothing.  In fact, I was hoping you'd have something when I saw this thread updated.

I'd always heard fall 2022 but now that we're in fall, the lack of release date is frustrating.

Looks like season 2 will be releasing March 3, 2023! Finally! I do not know if Amazon USA will be getting it the same day as Amazon India.

Finally!  FOUR years after it originally came out.  That's crazy. I am pretty sure the first season came out at the same time worldwide. 

Although, I hope that page is accurate.  It looks like one of those "ComingOnNetflix" sites that have a lot of spec...but it did give a specific date so maybe?

Three things:  I finished the rewatch.   It flew by.  I wonder how many episodes this season will have.

I also watched a movie on E! called Arranged Love about a girl who ran away from her arranged marriage to the US but goes back to India to get her inheritance.   Since it's tied to her marital status, she ropes in a stranger to play her husband.   Pretty cute.

My Mom and I are rewatching season 1, Sobhita Dhulipala (Tara) is such a gorgeous woman with a lovely figure for wearing clothes. Her costumes are so beautiful and she looks amazing in everything.

It definitely has a different feel compared to the first two seasons.  It might be the longer episodes. I thought the shorter episodes helped the show fly by.  Yet, at the same time, I don't feel bored by the longer episodes...or at least not so far.

Or it could be that it's definitely a darker season.  If last season was about the happily ever after.  This season hints more about what comes next.

Sorry.  "I've seen the first two" meant that I've seen the first two episodes of the new season (although I've seen three now.)  And I was comparing it to season 1.  This season has longer eps.

I don't think it's known yet if there will be a third season.
