I LOVE Lucy Worsley- she is awesome, and I wondered if anyone else had seen this- the episodes aired right after the first two episodes of Season 3, I’m watching them on Amazon Prime.

I love retrospectives like this.  Interesting information was shared like the fact that the lace pattern for the wedding gown was destroyed.  No surprised and I suppose these days it could be computer generated but I never considered people wanting to copy it way back then.  And I can't even imagine what a madhouse the kitchen would have been at that breakfast with no modern machinery.  Those cooks were saints!

Lucy Worsley is awesome, and this special didn't disappoint. All the different components could have been whole episodes--the clothing (seeing V's undies!), the food (especially Franconelli's recipes brought to life, and the tidbit about turbot). the music (and the detour to a very plausible supposition that V & A's "favorite composer" would have played a role, and why it worked out differently), the setting being so radical for a royal wedding, and even how that wedding was referenced throughout Victoria's life and still has an impact today.

It was a great special. Really fun to see the clothes, food, music and everything else that went into the wedding.

I too adore Lucy Worsley and she does great documentaries on the Tudors as well.  I believe it's available on youtube.

I love the recreations of everything as well and I think that their version of a young Q.V. is more accurate than Jenna Coleman.  J.C. is just too attractive and pretty!  Not that I've heard Q.V. was ugly or anything but she wasn't the beauty that Jenna is but I get it....it's for T.V.

I’ve just watched the first episode, and found it very interesting.  I need to look up other projects of Ms. Worsley, as I’m not familiar with her work.

It might have been interesting to have some of the British Bake-off “star bakers” work on the wedding cake, pastries, etc.

I’m looking forward to the 2nd episode!

Glad to find other fans of Lucy Worsley! There are many out there that are critical of her approach, but I really like it. I like how she blends into the background (frequently in costume) and feeds us tidbits we may have never heard about whatever era.

Oh, a really good seamstress  in the pre-PC days could look at a dress in a window or at a picture and copy it right off. Bring on the white weddings!

My grandmother could do that!  She was very talented.  I remember one time my brother and I unexpectedly stayed overnight at her house, and she whipped up some pajamas for us, no pattern or anything!

I meant the lace.  The intricacy would make it difficult to eyeball and recreate.

Oh, yes, the lace would be quite difficult!  It would take both talent and skill, I'd think.

I watched the second episode this weekend.  So fascinating to see how it all came together, and how thoroughly everything was orchestrated.

It really was. I enjoyed watching all the different details. The clothes, the food, the music, and watching the ceremony and reception after it was all completed.
