It's not very big, so maybe the bus system is a reasonable alternative for those without a car. The show is set in Santa Rosa CA, not adjacent Napa. Santa Rosa is a city of 175,000+ with a decent public transit system. Napa is half that size (population 80K) and 40 miles away. Agree that the show doesn't really mention it much, especially since a major portion of Santa Rosa (4500+ homes) burned to the ground in October 2017. San Francisco is one hour away, directly south. That's where they went to see Wicked (?). Christy's Dad had his second family and his auto repair shop in Chico, which is barely 100 miles away as the crow flies, but takes 2-4 hours to drive, due to mountains. Link to comment

Oh, weird, everything I've ever read said it's set in Napa, including some Napa publication that published an article in the first season saying so far, there's nothing distinctively Napa about it. Are you sure it's Santa Rosa? 1 Link to comment

Are you sure it's Santa Rosa? I’ve never read anything about the show and I’ve always thought it was Napa. I thought it was mentioned in the first season. ETA- I found an HGTV interview with the set decorator that confirms it’s supposed to be Napa. https://www.hgtv.com/design/celebrity/on-set-with-cbss-mom Edited November 23, 2018 by Guest Link to comment
SanDiegoInExile November 24, 2018 Share November 24, 2018 (edited) In the first couple seasons, Santa Rosa was mentioned a few times, especially in the arc when Christy's father was located in Chico. The whole area is loosely referred to as The Napa Valley area by most folks who are outside the area, although Santa Rosa is in Sonoma County. "Napa" is often the term tossed out for the entire region (especially for the masses of Southern CA). The two cities are roughly 35 miles apart. Santa Rosa is the major city, with an airport, multiple radio stations, a daily newspaper, multi-level shopping mall, an actual law school (Empire College), and nearly 200,000 people. (Plus the mega casino Graton is right on its border). Napa is in Napa County and is a sleepy old-style downtown with a sprawling maze of overrated wineries. It has charm and the limited services that you would find in any town of 80K. Exact location doesn't really matter all that much, as the show barely references it. The infrastructure is greater in S.R., but everything within a 25-40 miles would be in the *metro* area. Edited November 24, 2018 by SanDiegoInExile Link to comment
Bastet November 30, 2018 Share November 30, 2018 The one where Christy dates the hard-partying firefighter is on right now in syndication, and he's with the Napa fire department (it's on the truck he drunkenly drives into her trash cans). I've only ever heard/seen Napa listed as the setting, never Santa Rosa, and that sounds exactly like what this show would do - set a group of AA members in a place known for wine - so I'm going to stick with that unless I hear it said on the show they live in Santa Rosa. 2 Link to comment
Bastet December 11, 2018 Share December 11, 2018 There was a good bit of discussion in this thread about whether Jill grew up wealthy or married into money, and last night an old episode was on, where she returns from her retreat, refuses to keep paying for everyone's lunch, and winds up going to a different meeting. Her share is that she has always been rich, and thus never knew whether people liked her for her or her money; did her classmates really want to come to her 13th birthday party, or did they just want the free trip to Hawaii? 4 Link to comment

possibilities June 3, 2021 Share June 3, 2021 (edited) Can you take a screenshot and then do a google image search? Or maybe there's a twitter account related to the show, which you could ask? Edited June 3, 2021 by possibilities Link to comment
