S07.E03: Arrears In Science

I was right, it was Vendata/Venturion as the Blue Morpho! And Yep, he's Monarch's dad and reactivated when Jonas got axed! And Jonas was killed at Movie Night, too, while Sovereign disguised himself as Sphinxter and set off everything on Brock's life, too. Damn. (EDIT: Is Rusty taking Monarch's toy from him as a kid the reason why Monarch hates him?!)

Shrill Spector and Scary Nillson! Mr. Fahrenheit was Freddy Mercury, too. Loving these villains. Man, Dr. Z had an army of H.E.L.P.e.Rs! That's awesome.

Oh...oh, god Jonas was WAY worse than I thought. Did they confirm that Jonas fathered Monarch, too?! At least highly imply it.

Lots of callbacks to season 1 tonight, like Action Man's stroke and Bizzy Bee. So if what Orpheus said in season 1 was true, the entire series took place a little over two years.

We all know Jonas was a bastard but trying to shove his brain into Vendata there for killing him than trying to kill him when their in that weird mind space and more than likely slept with his "friend"'s wife and fathered the Monarch.

I wonder if it is true how Rusty and the Monarch are going to reaction,I am hoping for a Luke Skywalker like NO!!!!!!!!! from at least one of them.

Did we found out if the Fitzcarraldo's plane crash was an accident or if someone cause it?

Many quotable lines, as usual. "Hoho, look at that! I have never actually seen a man realize his whole life has been a lie."

When you get right down to it, Jonas is a direct or indirect cause for at least a third of everything bad that's ever happened on this show.

Favorite part of the episode: Dr. Z erases Venturion's memory with a handheld bulk tape eraser, then flips the "Good/Evil" switch that Jonas built into him for some reason.

Laugh Riot looked a bit like the Comedian.

They just can't stop bringing the shrink/growth ray gun back, can they?

Makes you wonder if the reason the Rusty Venture from end of "Bright Lights, Dean City" was happy sane and all Doctor Quest looking was whoever is Rusty's mother deiced to take Rusty as far away from Jonas as she could.

I want to question why Jonas gave Vendata a Good and Evil switch but with him I really don't want to know.

The timeline became a little iffy to me in this episode.  Though Blue Morpho died (and became Venturion) in 76-77, Rusty was still a little boy.  Only a few years later (81-82) he becomes Vendata and Rusty is in college.  Was he really 16 or younger when he entered college?

I watched on the iPad yesterday. Glorious continuity porn, which means “Malcolm” was the “money shot.”

Man, Red Death looked like a badass in the flashback. Anyone thinking that his name was inspired by — I think — a musical act called “Red D’Eath” in Watchmen?

I kind of like the idea that Rusty was his father’s downfall, as Team Venture trips on his toy, and Jonas literally goes to pieces.

I’ll have to rewatch soon. Also, the app version didn’t have a teaser for next week.

ETA: Here’s this week’s shirt. I haven’t seen the appeal of buying an episode-specific tee. This one is nice . . . and I think the font is based off Doc Savage.

Didn't they establish that Movie Night was 87?

Oh, Jonas is the devil. And I mean literally Satan. He's the worst villain on this show.

So, it seems very likely that Jonas did father Monarch/Malcom, and Husband theorized that he "borrowed" one of Mrs. Morpho's ova to create Rusty (I can't believe she'd conceive and give birth to twins, than hand one of them over.) Maybe that was the price agreed on to produce the next generation of Fitzcoraldos? It couldn't just be making Kano go to work for him.

Okay, so:

We've confirmed who Blue Morpho/Vendata/Monarch's nonbio parent was.

That this entire shit ball started rolling downhill because a bunch of drunk/drugged out villains went over to pick a fight with Jonas.

That Brock's entire OSI life is a lie.

We still don't know for sure who actually opened the bay doors on Gargantua I, who the boys' mother is, or who is RUSTY'S mom, for that matter.

So they had to wait 6 years for Sharkey's Machine? Damn, you'd think Jonas could arrange for a first-run movie.

And out of all movies, Sharkey's Machine.

Like I said, the surprise isn't Sharkey's Machine becoming a plot point in a cartoon, but that it wasn't Archer.

It helps that the show beat Archer to referencing it the first time by about, what, 5 years before it even began?

The good/evil switch reminded me of the Halloween ep of The Simpsons in which Homer stopped the Krusty the Clown doll that was trying to kill him, a la Talkie Tina, by flipping the good/evil switch.

Wow, did HELPER 2 reveal Dean is a clone of Rusty?

I am going to assume Jonas Venture fixed Malcom Monarch's infertility problem by getting his wife pregnant. I wonder if Malcom ever found out?
