I'd be curious to see a spin off series where Leon is the boss.

There's a rumor/speculation that there may be a spin-off about Leon and Wanda in the world of hip-hop. Leon mentions that Wanda is interested in a career in music, possibly producing. It would be focused on Leon and Wanda, but not about drugs.

I noticed when he mentioned that and I didn't recall Wanda ever expressing an interest in being in the music industry.

I wonder if they plan on incorporating real figure characters or if they'll just have fictional characters whose stories are similar to music figures from this time period.

So...how many 180's did Cissy do in this one ep?  She lectures Franklin about the need to get out as cleanly as possible, yet she ends up adding a hit on a Company agent.  I love that she was so self-absorbed in her own righteous fury that she did not see that Franklin's plan to go legit (hello Michael Corleone) depended upon receipt of that money.  She has now consigned him to a horrible fate.

I would like to hear the rationale from the showrunners about why they feel Cissy did this. It was definitely an exciting, wtf moment for the audience, but otherwise I don't understand that decision from a character development perspective. Literally any other choice for her character would have made more sense.

SHAAAAAAANE!  SHAAAAAAAANE!

What a ridiculous choice to end the series (Leon calling after Franklin).

Cissy was, imo, the center of consciousness of TPTB who created and ran the series.  There was always much importance in their filming her when she was referencing the "righteousness" of Alton's terror for the cause and her full support of it.  Her later anger over her community suffering at the hands of the CIA/the government always rang very hollow with me.  She absolutely and with full conscious supported her son becoming an exploitive bad guy, and she personally accepted the gains created by the eeeeeeevil CIA.

Her work at the Center was certainly a good.

She was also most certainly insane.  Leon got it wrong, but he was definitely the vehicle for the expression of the POV of TPTB of this show.  YMMV.  Oh, for the record, she did speak to Franklin again on his second visit in prison.  The words were bitter and condemning, but speak, she did.

Leon's return to mobster status and his subsequent super quick exit was fantastical.  Not buying.  For me, the most logical and congruent end was for him to be killed shortly after Teddy was murdered.  Recall that he had no source for product and his lieutenants were highly skeptical as to how he would find a new source.  I see no way Havemeyer would have stepped in to keep things going.  At that point, it was all about ending things without being caught and also confiscating the millions in escrow.

Ruben's end was well executed and made perfect sense.

Franklin murdering the locksmith also made a ton of sense.  It also may have been the most vicious of all the violence in the series.  I appreciated how it evidenced just how evil had completely captured Saint.

Good for new momma Veronique.  I wonder if she would ever let her mother near her child.

Good for Wanda.

Good for Oso.  I do wish there had been more specific assurance that he would easily be able to find his family in the land of Tar Heels.

A small, but most welcome piece was when we saw how Phil, the banker, operated.  The big cartels back then simply had to be able to move their cash into legitimacy.  Many moneychangers profited mightily and were/are a particular evil.  Phil knew dang well that Franklin and Veronique were running some type of fraud.  But, he was all about servicing their needs and being their buddy, anyway.

I very much appreciate the book end of the original exploiter of the community, the evil landlord Cissy supported by working for him as the series opened, preying more strongly than ever on the disadvantaged - thanks to her son..

If the series did a great service and did it well, it was depicting how the poor are always exploited.  'Twas ever thus.

Leon as the voice of reason against Franklin. No honor among thieves.

I'm surprised they didn't put Cissy in solitary confinement. But if the CIA wants to take her out they could, regardless. (Over on reddit they're still calling her the Skylar White of Snowfall. 🥳)

Poor Wanda. She was trying so hard to have faith in the power of good deeds. At least she got out alive and healthy and stayed off the drugs despite living so close to temptation.

Veronique finally went rogue. I knew she was wrong! And she actually was pregnant, lol.

Peaches. How was he still alive? I would've expected him either to have OD'd or died of AIDS long before then.

That poor locksmith. He had no idea what a hellscape had walked into. Or that it would cost him his life.

Louie was hiding out at some stables. She was more into horses than I realized. And the owners lied for her to the DEA. Wow.

Yeah, Leon was not the one I would've bet on to make it out of the game relativity unscathed and actually better off. Perhaps the love of a good woman made the difference for him.

Oso made out well too, and his family was safe. Wonder if he'll risk going to see them?

I was surprised they didn't address Parissa at all. I still think Teddy had given her the banking info and she had the $73M. Or she told the CIA where it was so they wouldn't be on her for the rest of her life.

Franklin's meltdown was spectacular. He had basically become Alton. I think Damson Idris should get all the awards for his performance in this episode. King Kong ain't got nothing on him either. 😉 (Though I realize Hollywood seems to ignore this show. Too close to home for some people perhaps?)

Bravo, Snowfall. It's been quite a ride.

I wondered if it was a tiny nod to Spike Lee and the ending of School Daze. That world could've been Franklin's if not for the Fates and some bad decisions.

They made some comment to the agents (concerning the short term employees) that "It seems like a lot of them are running from something."  I wonder if they had a side business of hiding people.

I did have to laugh a bit about Franklin's snark to Peaches about "moving to Monrovia".

Boo, no Emmy nomination for Damson Idris. If it were up to me, I would've moved one of the Succession actors down to the supporting category and plugged in Damson as a lead.

Again, I suspect his role and the entire series hit a little too close to home for the Hollywood types who lived in LA during that era. Plus there was likely some twisted notion that giving this show any awards would be glorifying gangs and the illegal drug business. Gee, they don't seem to have a problem with shows about the CIA. Fiction. How does it work?
