Luckylyn April 27, 2014 Share April 27, 2014 This is Jack Harkness' introduction. I think it makes sense for a Torchwood rewatch to include Jack's origins. 1 Link to comment

Chip May 2, 2014 Share May 2, 2014 I'm going to move this topic to Doctor Who, but leave a link here for people to find it! Link to comment
Kalliste May 3, 2014 Share May 3, 2014 These were the first episodes I ever saw of the new series and remain some of my favourites. After watching everything I loved the introduction of Jack, I wish he ended up a standalone companion! 1 Link to comment
Vikitty May 8, 2014 Share May 8, 2014 The ending with 'everybody lives!' still makes me tear up to this day. 2 Link to comment
Lisin May 8, 2014 Share May 8, 2014 @Valerie I'm pretty sure I cry at the end of almost every episode of this show, but this one in particular is a big old tear-fest. Sob. 2 Link to comment
Vikitty May 9, 2014 Share May 9, 2014 @Lisin I generally don't get emotional over TV shows, but this episode and the end of VIncent and the Doctor get me every single time. 2 Link to comment
tarotx May 9, 2014 Share May 9, 2014 (edited) :( Finally got around to rewatching this. I got into the final episodes of 11 and all those specials that had aired. I love this episode. I cried when the Doctor said and everybody lives this time and Was super happy when they rescued Jack. And the dancing. Rose was funny and charming. And Jack was a blast. I love 9 and Jack and 9, Jack and Rose. All these episodes from the end of 1 are some of my favorites. These two particularly are my favorites. I love the child and Nancy's story. I love that the boy was brought back to life pretty much because Nancy finally admitted that she was his mom. Beautiful. The doctor was sooo fun in these episodes Edited May 9, 2014 by tarotx 1 Link to comment
Captanne May 11, 2014 Share May 11, 2014 (edited) Wait, this is a Torchwood rewatch, right? Why is this topic moved to Doctor Who? Jack is introduced in this episode and it perfectly well belongs in a Torchwood forum if it's in a Torchwood rewatch schedule. I don't mean to be trouble; I'm just confused. Technically, "Tooth and Claw" belongs in this rewatch, too, even though it's a Doctor Who episode. Edited May 11, 2014 by Captanne Link to comment
Lisin May 12, 2014 Share May 12, 2014 @Captanne I think because these specific episodes are Doctor Who episodes. Link to comment
tarotx May 12, 2014 Share May 12, 2014 I can watch these episodes over and over. I love the the "fight" the doctor has with Jack about the sonic blaster/disruptor, the sonic screw driver and then the Banana! Fun times!! 1 Link to comment
ElleryAnne May 21, 2014 Share May 21, 2014 I finally got around to re-watching these. It's funny, but when I think of the episode I tend to think in terms of how it introduces Jack, and in terms of the setting (because the London Blitz is one of those periods in history that fascinates me.) But I forgot just how much I love these two episodes for its scary elements. That little hand trying to come through the door slot creeps me out. Doubly so because it's not only scary but sad, because the child is so young and sounds so lost. And the patients in the hospital, all sitting up at once? Very effective. My only issue with the episode is that the opening to The Doctor Dances feels like a weak way to get out of what's a really good cliffhanger at the end of The Empty Child. Something of a letdown, but then everything picks up again, so I can overlook that. I've also got to say (and it's probably a minority opinion, so consider this your warning!), as much as I think Jack is a barrel of fun in this episode, the cockiness would get on my nerves something awful after a while. I'm glad he becomes less over-the-top full of himself down the road. I find him much more appealing with a bit of gravitas. I think this is also my favorite "Rose" episode. I credit that to Jack's presence, though I like Rose with Nine anyway. Link to comment
