The bike ride at the end actually happened earlier, not "two weeks later." We had previously seen her dressing for it. Plus, she was wearing the vac on the bike ride, despite it supposedly being filmed after Now said she didn't need it. I don't think TLC cares about continuity, no one to check as they apparently do with movies. I just rewatched her original episode. She reconsiled, at least on screen, with one sister, but I never saw anything more about her other sister. Edited May 5, 2017 by auntjess 1 Link to comment
ChristmasJones May 6, 2017 Share May 6, 2017 My takeaway from this (and other recent episodes) is that once folks get up to these high weights, they really are facing a life-long battle not to regain the weight. They will need to stay forever diligent. 8 Link to comment

Skin doesn't really stretch with weight gain. Instead, it grows as needed. The only time it stretches is when it is pulled faster than it can grow (such as during pregnancy). Think of how a baby's skin grows as the baby becomes an adult. 2 Link to comment
xwordfanatik May 6, 2017 Share May 6, 2017 I enjoy snarking when the show deserves it (in my never-to-be humble opinion, LOL) but seeing Nikki, a likable person from the get-go, was such a nice change from some of the horrid people (James K, Steven A, and their ilk) that I couldn't snark at all, and I wish that dear lady every success. Like others have posted, her family's not perfect, but they do love her, and she them. Chris was a likable guy too, Dad has always been there for her, and Mom has made an effort to really help her lovely daughter. I'm glad the other two sisters weren't a part of this show. I remember in the original ep the one not wanting her kids around Nikki, and that must have been incredibly hurtful. Go Nikki! 6 Link to comment
hookedontv May 6, 2017 Share May 6, 2017 I so liked this episode and Nikki. It was refreshing to not become mad and frustrated at whining or complaining. Nikki had a positive attitude, was determined, and maybe most importantly, accountable for her actions. Her smile was beautiful! On a personal note, I needed a bit of inspiration, I am trying to lose 50-75 pounds by diet and exercise. I've lost 15 pounds so far and working out every other day. Watching Nikki gave me a big boost and a lot of hope! When I become a bit cranky because it's time to work out I will think of her positivity. See y'all (channeling Dr. Now) next week! 10 Link to comment
gonecrackers May 6, 2017 Share May 6, 2017 I admired how Nikki smiled at Dr. Now & was pleasant & friendly, even when she was consistently disappointed she wasn't ready for skin removal surgery. She never pouted or felt sorry for herself. Her resolve after her friend died was amazing too. That surgery looked scary & painful, as did the recovery still ongoing. She's got a great family; her healing seemed to bring them all some healing. She has such a great relationship with her brother too; that must make her parents so happy. Great episode; very happy for her. 8 Link to comment

Too many times on this show when the patients talk about being in pain, it's related to things they don't want to do. Kudos to Nikki for not letting the pain scare her back into old habits. I'm loving Nikki's episode because of her attitude and her beautiful smile. No whining? Am I watching the same show? Patients like Nikki must be a breath of fresh air for Dr. Now. Penny should watch this episode and then hang her head in shame. 2 Link to comment
LoreliLee June 10, 2017 Share June 10, 2017 Nikki was my favorite person on this series. I will admit though, I had some unpleasant flashbacks during her "Where Are They Now " episode. I had my stomach incision come open in two small spots after my gastric bypass and THEN five years later had major complications/infections after skin removal surgery on my legs. I look great now, you would never even know I was formerly obese (300 to 140 at 5'1") but the pain from the infections was the worst I ever felt in my life. I loved Nikki's attitude & wish a majority of the patients would've had the same. It was so sad about her friend dying after his surgery. I know 3 (men) that died either waiting to be approved or afterwards from complications down the road after surgery. Nowadays I watch this show as a reminder what could've been if I hadn't gotten myself together... 5 Link to comment
