WendyCR72 January 12, 2017 Share January 12, 2017 Since no one else has, I'll put this up so it may be discussed! Murtaugh and Riggs suspect that a misuse of power is at play in the death of a Texas Ranger; a dark secret from Avery's past complicates the investigation. Link to comment
shapeshifter January 12, 2017 Share January 12, 2017 I kept thinking I was missing some ulterior motive for the bowling alley brawl, but now I guess it was just macho man sport. No? Link to comment
Morrigan2575 January 12, 2017 Share January 12, 2017 I liked this better than the last 2. I liked the closer look at Capt Avery. It was interesting to see his thoughts/guilt over what he did and Rog's reaction to the news. I also liked how they incorporated Trish into the story. It's odd because I'm finding myself growing more and more annoyed by Rigg's Shtick. I just no longer find it entertaining or endearing. I did like Rogg being a bowling fiend and in the end revealing he fudged the numbers just a bit. It was funny seeing Malcolm-Jamal Warner as the semi-bad LA County Sheriff's Captain. He has a recurring role on Major Crimes as a cop. I was really worried about Avery during that scene, I thought for sure he was going to get killed walking to his car or as soon as he got in. Glad they didn't kill him off, I like him. 3 Link to comment

Glad they didn't kill him off, I like him. Theo is the Lieutenant of the Special Investigations Section, the undercover trackers/surveillance on Major Crimes. What got me was when Detective Cruz enters the Sheriff's station the Deputy on the desk immediately recognizes him as a bad guy from the past but doesn't notice the giant gun strapped to his skinny hip. What was up with the Ranger dying with his boots on? Even Walker would have known that there was no chance to fight his way out of that spot. 3 Link to comment
Good Queen Jane January 12, 2017 Share January 12, 2017 This episode didn't really grab me. I'm not sure why the LAPD rather than the Sheriff was investigating as it seemed that the shooting took place outside the city limits, but whatever. Actually, I just wanted more scenes with Trish and Roger playing with their adorable baby. 3 Link to comment

There are some wilderness looking areas in LA City going north towards the valleys but why would a Ranger heading to Texas go that way? Link to comment

Raja January 12, 2017 Share January 12, 2017 I remember in the years following Rodney King the LAPD were always the bad cops with Sheriff's Deputies or suburban city cops being the "good police" on LA based cop shows. With the retired Sheriff on trial and reports of deputy gangs I guess the tide has fully turned on how Southland cops are seen by the public Link to comment
Happytobehere January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 Had no idea this was returning this week until I saw it on my DVR. I liked the focus on the captain and how Trish was incorporated into the story. I'm glad the captain is still around and not dead as I feared, forced to resign in disgrace, or facing criminal charges for his crime. Malcolm Jamal warner was genuinely scary during his final scene with the captain. Not even the slightest glimpse of Theo in sight. And may I just add that MJW is a very attractive man. I liked seeing him and Damon Wayons in a heavily dramatic scene given their claims to fame are comedies. 6 Link to comment
MissLucas January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 I liked that we got some insight into Avery and his backstory with Murtaugh. Riggs was an unmitigated a**hole to the two bike cops in the beginning who were just doing their jobs. I kinda wish he'll end up in a situation where he actually needs their help but I guess since it wasn't addressed in this episode we'll have to file it under 'rogue charm gone wrong'. MVP: baby Murtaugh. 3 Link to comment

I thought that scene was perfect exactly for this reason. It was a nice incorporation of something that is very much Riggs, him with his dog and laughing at the bike cops. Not only does he have the truck full of unpaid tickets, when they were being punished they were put in uniforms and they were entertaining themselves by ticketing someone for jaywalking. Found the whole thing very in line with their movie characters. 1 Link to comment
