CooperTV December 8, 2016 Share December 8, 2016 Quote After Hayes and Wallace share a passionate night together, Hayes returns to reality and cautiously considers sticking her toe into relationship waters with Wallace. Simultaneously, she also tries to make amends for her bitter loss in the death penalty case of Earl Slavitt. Hayes implores the CIU team to aggressively pursue the case of Sophie Hausen, a young woman serving a life sentence for murdering a popular college basketball player, whom she accused of raping her. Meanwhile, Tess finally attempts to make things right in her friendship with Matty. Link to comment
thuganomics85 January 4, 2017 Share January 4, 2017 Where his everyone?! Either way, one of the more serious cases, since the accused was a rape victim who was convicted of killing her rapist, so naturally everyone's emotions were raised for this one. Not to mention Hayes was still feeing the effects of Richard Thomas' falsely convicted death (points for continuity!), so she really wanted to make this work. No surprise; she was truly innocent; although it being the counselor was a decent twist, and she really was hard to fully support, because the fact she was willing to let the Sophie take the fall for it, was selfish on her end. Did enjoy seeing Jordan Hayes as Sophie, after last seeing her in that ridiculous, hilarious show, Helix, on Syfy. Also, the guy who played one of the other victims' father was really good. The look on his face when it dawned on him what Sam was asking was perfect. Hell, it was probably one of Sam's best scenes so far. Tess finally tells Ryu/Four... err, I mean Matty, the truth. I wonder if he'll show up again or if he's gone for good. Maxine's addiction is still being brought up, I see. Hayes and Wallace are going to try again! Yay? 2 Link to comment

CheshireCat January 6, 2017 Share January 6, 2017 I didn't even know it was on. I missed that they'll return January 1st and thought they'd return a week later like every other Sunday show. Am caught up now - thought it was a solid episode. Atwell has really grown on me, wasn't much of a fan for the first few episodes but I think the cast has gotten a lot more comfortable with each other and with their characters. They're starting to gel and I think they've finally pushed Hayes forward, so that's good. I'm caring less and less for Tess or maybe it's just that she looks like a deer caught in the headlights in every episode. But I'm really liking the dynamic of the other characters. It's a pity the show will probably not continue - the cases may not be memorable but I like to watch the team work, I like to watch how they each deal with the cases and interact with each other and I want to see the story of the characters and how they develop. 1 Link to comment

Yes, I need her to stop with the wide-eyed wonder look! This show has grown on me. I look forward to watching it, though I'm less thrilled with the sex/romance part of it. I guess shows feel they need to throw that in all the time, but I just don't care about that part of it. I ended up feeling bad for all the victims, including the murdering counselor. Just once, though, I'd love for some rapist bastard to get his just desserts without a rape victim or rape victim's family going to jail for it. Like, maybe the rapist was killed, but it was because he actually fell off a roof when he was drunk rather than being pushed by one of his victims or a vigilante. 1 Link to comment

I don't mind the romance part. I don't think the show needs it but I also think Atwell and Cahill work better together now. 30 minutes ago, izabella said: I ended up feeling bad for all the victims, including the murdering counselor. I had actually expected the case to go a different direction so that they can get the rape victim out without having to have the actual murder confess and arrested. Hayes was so adamant about not caring whether the victim was guilty or not, so what changed with the counselor? The guy raped four women and Hayes obviously thought he got what he deserved, so I was a little confused why she was suddenly so relentless to have the counselor arrested. But I loved that she made an appearance as donors were shown around campus. Link to comment

I think Hayes wouldn't have enough evidence to get the victim out of jail unless the counselor confessed, since she still didn't have any proof of who did it and didn't have a warrant for her DNA. Maybe next time, or in another show, the rapist can accidentally roofie himself and choke on his own drunk vomit instead of a rape victim killing him. There has to be a way for justice to happen without victims turning into criminals! 1 Link to comment

They're vigilantes, but the two girls at the center of MTV's (tragically underrated) Sweet/Vicious routinely beat the crap out of rapists on their college campus. It's so satisfying to watch. That show's quite different from this one in tone, though; it deals with heavy subject matter but also has a lot of funny moments. I watched all six episodes (so far) this week and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. I like this show well enough, but I am getting tired of nearly everyone they investigate being innocent, and I don't buy the Hayes/Wallace connection at all. I still don't see any chemistry, and I still don't understand why she'd consider him enough of a catch to potentially change her mind about serious relationships. He's smarmy, he's shady, he's cheating on his girlfriend, he's lied to Hayes on several occasions. The hookup I can understand -- she was upset about an innocent man dying and needed comfort -- but this sudden desire for a relationship with the guy? No. 1 Link to comment

Also, the reasons given for choosing some of their cases don't seem all that professional. And can somebody explain why they have to complete their investigations in no more than five days? 2 Link to comment
queenanne January 7, 2017 Share January 7, 2017 I've never minded the premised love story of Wallace and Hayes, and I think the seeding of stuff the writers and actors have done in the unspoken subtext has a lot to do with that. I get the undercurrent with Wallace wanting her to do well, and yet knowing Hayes is so contrary if he starts rah-rah'ing her too heavily she'll feel like a patronized child getting praise just for breathing. I also appreciate that someone at ABC has clearly committed to a working relationship with Hayley Atwell, if this show is canceled it won't be through their giving up on it. 1 Link to comment
