"one of them moved! I swear! It was just over by the radish!" Both of the credit characters have been credit characters for a very long time, The Lorelais are physically nearby but blissfully oblivious to what is going on. Just because the Lorelais are not in the scene doesn't mean they were not involved directly before and directly after this scene.
