Dave in Chicago May 9, 2016 Share May 9, 2016 This... looks more like season one than I expected. Are they mainly aiming for shock value, complete with meta-commentary about how hard it is to top last season? Could be fun, but it also might backtrack on the Rachel and other crew character arcs a bit. If it's just a season of "embracing the dark side until another, eventual breaking point," that seems like low-hanging fruit. Link to comment
Kromm May 9, 2016 Share May 9, 2016 Hmm. I'd hoped they'd do something original, like explore a different genre of reality show. 1 Link to comment
Tara Ariano May 9, 2016 Share May 9, 2016 I don't think there was ever a question that the second season wouldn't also be about Everlasting. They announced the casting of the Suitor character a while ago. 1 Link to comment
In2You May 9, 2016 Share May 9, 2016 I hope there's more development on the contestants this season and less on Rachel's dull ex boyfriend whatshisface. Link to comment

Season 1 was so good but I want something different. More of the same could get stale really fast. I wanted a female suitor or for them to tackle another reality show. I think it's all about shock value. How would the network executive not know who the suitor is? I thought he would have final say or at least be kept in the loop. If that happened on the real show would more/less people watch? The season 2 character I am probably most curious about is Gentry White. He's in so many BTS pics. Yet he plays the cousin. Maybe it's in his contract that he can't leave the set till they finish filming. I wish I could just binge watch the whole season right now. I am tired of waiting. Link to comment

I could see some gut feeling that since Dating shows are the very worst reality shows in a way, you couldn't really move on to anything with just as much impact. That said, I'd prefer they at least tried. You could always go back to dating shows for a third season, if #2 didn't work as well. I could see being a little intimidated by lets say... weight loss shows. You could all too easily fall into fat jokes or risk having viewers be up in arms if any of the overweight people are shown in any negative light. Cooking shows seem like they've got some, pardon the pun, meat, but a core motivation of simply winning perhaps doesn't have as many layers as a dating show, where more is involved than simply winning or losing. A Survivor or Big Brother type show perhaps has many of those limitations too, except unlike a more straight show like a Cooking competition, people really play around with other power relationships and it really becomes about how well or badly you can show the show-around-the-show, the production side, and keep that setting interesting. Maybe... a "celebrity" reality show, where under some thin pretense like dancing, home renovation, cooking weight loss or any number of other cloaks (Celebrity Big Brother, for example, is just making them live together and do ridiculous comps and talk about how much they've come to hate each other)... so it's really about catering to the egos of D-list celebs? They could have either cast real D-listers playing hyper-real versions of themselves OR made up fictional ones. So the backstage drama would be less perhaps about playing with the hopes and dreams of real people and more into compromising yourself in other ways. Edited May 10, 2016 by Kromm Link to comment
Minneapple May 10, 2016 Share May 10, 2016 Having a black suitor makes it different enough for me. The race issues alone will make this season really interesting. I'm curious to see how the show handles that. 5 Link to comment
