Discussion of the hosts regarding a specific episode is fine here, but generalized discussion of the hosts go in the The Hosts Thread: Joe and Mika Know Their Value.

I tuned in for the 8:00 half hour.  First - a shallow observation: Meeka is either letting her hair go gray or is soaking her head in peroxide.  I cannot tell which.

Claire McCaskill. I always like what she adds to MJ. This morning? First - Joe was doing his "when I was running" and Claire was praising the populist rallies that Dems are doing. Then. I think she said she was against Dems in the Senate removing Schumer from his leadership position. I think.

I was surprised. Because that is kind of what attendees to these rallies and so many Dem voters seem want. They are mad at business as usual, perceived weakness of Dems in power. Claire and Joe? Same as it ever was.

I still record the show on my DVR, but I only watched a few minutes today. Joe supported AOC and Senator Sanders' campaign against Oligarchs in Arizona and Colorado.

I watch CNBC & Canadian news now since Canada has a federal election on April 28.

The top issue in Canada now is how to deal with President Trump's tariffs & proposal to make Canada the 51st state.

I wonder if this will be covered on Morning Joe.

Canadians are very anxious about the USA these days. Travel to the USA is discouraged. People refuse to buy US-made goods at Grocery stores, etc.

I think she got it re highlighted or whatever for the Kiss Mika's Ass party in Abu Dhabi. (I've decided KYV is really KMA, because that's all it's good for, get a bunch of women together to kiss Mika's ass.)

On her IG page you can tell she had it done. It was definitely much lighter.

Mika turning into Joe by claiming "I'm hearing from people who have family in the military who are FREAKED OUT!!!!!".

Sure Mika. Whatever.  Why would people call you about this?

I will say watching the coverage on MSNBC, including MJ, has been a hoot as they tear apart Trump's NSC doing group chats about war plans.

IDK, maybe call all parties in to a SCIF on site? Don't they all live in DC? Why are we doing this on phones, encripted or otherwise?  Let alone a public messaging app.  What if you miss one reply that says "POTUS calling off attack! Stand down!!"

And Hegseth using emogees. Nothing says military genius like not realizing who you're texting AND using  emogees like a 12 year old girl excited she got Taylor Swift tix. He thought he sounded so cool saying "OpSec".

Yeah, except there wasn't much Operational Security was there?

I wish they'd get Pete Buttigieg on. He's been on fire on IG.

I must have missed something. I was looking forward to hearing from Jeffrey Goldberg this morning. What I saw was the numerous Talking Heads discussing it; with Goldberg included. Please tell me that he was on, by himself, during some other segment. The Brady Bunch screen with the talking heads? Begone. At least in this case. But. I can only imagine the histrionics of Meeka; and Joe trying to bring his When I was in Congress tired schtick.

And MSNBC? It seems almost criminal for Joe to be a drop-in host on his own show.  With the salary he is taking in. I promise this is the last time I will bring this up.

Goldberg was on in the 7 am hour. Joe, Willie and Lemire interviewed him. I had seen him on Jen Psaki's show on Monday night, and then Rachel and Jonathan Capehart kept the story going with various guests.

The hearings today were lit, as Jonathan predicted.  No one would admit the texts had classified information, so Sen Warner kept asking to see them. I've heard Goldberg is going to release them, since he's being called a liar by the Administration. If they aren't classified, then show them.

I'm surprised their contract allows so many days off.  The powers at MSNBC need to require them both to be there at least 4 days a week and do at least a certain amount of time per show. It seems like the two divide it up too much now as to who's going to be the "unlucky person to do it today!" And then maybe 1 or 2 days a week they both appear.

Gotta say this morning is off the hook.

They got Goldberg back on as he published the texts. Lemire was reading them as they describe in real time the attack on the Houthi camp. It is insane. It has what planes are being used, if they hit targets, etc.

Here's the kicker: Signal can't be downloaded on most gov't phones. Witkoff WAS IN MOSCOW during this text.  US gov't officials aren't supposed to use any communication devices while in Moscow. Period.  Even encripted gov't devices can be compromised.

I don't know why Chris Matthews and Tina Brown are necessary to the convo, but they're on set.  They had Sen Warner on, and now Hakeem Jeffries is on. He's called  for Hegseth to be fired.

The other interesting piece is the coverage of the SSA head confirmation hearing.  Warren and other Dems are hammering him on getting the staffing back up at SSA as the web site is crashing, and the phone lines are jammed. Warren said the promise to the American workers is that the gov't get them their benefits, and that can't happen if the staff isn't there.  They're going to, for lack of a better term, FAFO.  They think the town halls are bad now? Wait til this SSA stuff really starts affecting people.

Agreed.  wanted to see what people were saying here where there's been so much show hate lately.  Totally worthwhile episode and great coup to get Goldberg and Warner as well.

Kinda nice to see them cover actual important events.

Watching House hearing now.  This will give them more material for tomorrow.

More bs, obfuscation, and someone bringing up the shooting at the baseball game years ago when Scalise was shot. Have NO clue what that has to do with this.  It's nauseating.

Kemper I think it's like all cable news, when nothing significant is going on, it's boring AF .

This has shown that they actually can run a good show, get the guest they  need to explain and put things in context.

I had one thought while watching all of this unfold: What a bunch of nincompoops. And for once I'm not talking about JoMika.

Don't worry about "show hate". I've been on The Baldwins reality show Reddit forum. They make us look like a bunch of nuns.

I hope I have not been projecting "show hate" ... though I guess it might seem like that lately. It is mainly frustration. And remembering how relevant and entertaining Show used to be. Not to say it stll can't have great days - like today.

I will never forget when Joe said Abraham Lincoln never tweeted during the Civil War.

But did Washington when the Revolutionary War troops took over the airports?  Maybe he just called his generals on an unsecured Signal app.

I saw on Mediate (I think it was Mediate) where Meeka had to put her hand on Joe's arm or some such when he suggested Bill Burr host the Correspondent's Dinner. Now that suggestion is one I would love to see in action. If it were on pay-per-view....I would pay.

Did she realize Joe was kidding?  And what was she so concerned about?

I do think the WHCA dinner has gotten out of control with the celebrities in attendance and the focus on a stand up comic skewering politicians, etc.
The dinner is to celebrate journalism and award scholarships, not to see which comedian is going to start losing gigs for stating the truth.
