Bella April 27, 2015 Share April 27, 2015 We'll be doing some housekeeping in this forum over the next week, so I wanted a placeholder for the upcoming season. I believe it starts in July. Link to comment

CherryMalotte July 8, 2015 Share July 8, 2015 I'd love to see a little less monster, and a little more 'pretty'. Not saying I don't dig the creature features, the creativity is really wonderful - but I'd love to see a really good more make up than appliances. 2 Link to comment
needschocolate July 9, 2015 Share July 9, 2015 I don't mind monsters, as long it isn't All-Monsters-All-The-Time. More pretty would be good. And I would love to see old age make-up again (not old monsters though). I have always though it would be interesting to have them make they model look like a celebrity or have them do a make-up based on someone else's drawing - I think both of those are similar to things they would have to do in the real world. 3 Link to comment
Quilt Fairy July 10, 2015 Share July 10, 2015 Well, there's a hometown girl in there (Stevie from Grayslake, IL, which is a suburb of Chicago) so I got someone to root for. 16 contestants to start seems a lot, for some reason. Or have they had sixteen before and I was just oblivious? Link to comment
ElectricBoogaloo July 11, 2015 Share July 11, 2015 (edited) The show has started with 15 or 16 contestants since S5 (before that it was 12 or 14, depending on the season). I think it was slightly less overwhelming last season because they were in three teams. Edited July 11, 2015 by ElectricBoogaloo Link to comment
Bella July 11, 2015 Author Share July 11, 2015 Any indication as to whether they're doing teams again? I hope not. That sort of did and didn't work IMO, but I prefer not having them. I also think that Lauren is the show's "golden child." If they have to have a golden child, she'd be my pick, too, but is that really necessary? I don't think so. Link to comment
mlp July 12, 2015 Share July 12, 2015 Any indication as to whether they're doing teams again? I've been wondering that myself. I hope they never do teams or mentors again. I'd enjoy a challenge or two that includes past favorite contestants in some way but I want to see the current contestants doing, and responsible for, their own work. Link to comment
Portia July 21, 2015 Share July 21, 2015 Does "Missy Munster" fancy herself the next Cig Neutron? Ugh...gag me. Link to comment
HurricaneVal July 28, 2015 Share July 28, 2015 (edited) I don't mind the monster/alien/god/goddess challenges, just so long as they aren't all monster/alien/god/goddess challenges so I'm with CherryMalotte and needschocolate on that point. But what I really, really, really don't want is for the artists to turn every single challenge into a demonized or zombified version of whatever the challenge is. "Woodland sprite? I'll make an eeeeeeeeevil woodland sprite which has been cursed to constantly have the blood of her enemies coursing from these perpetually unhealed wounds!" Or "Incorporate this gorgeous tropical fish motif somewhere into this whimsical Dr. Seuss challenge? I know! I'll make a demon mermaid who eats the children who read these books!" I get it. The schlocky (and not-so bad) horror movie industry is probably the biggest employer of Hollywood makeup artists so those sorts of things are in their wheelhouse, and they're trying to use Face Off as sort of a video portfolio, but I wish the judges would crack down on these guys when the parameters of the challenge get stretched like that. Especially when they all do it. Edited to add: I presume that unless you're the head artist, like Ve would be on a movie, these guys have to follow the parameters and design laid down by their boss. So maybe showing they could follow directions, even if the design wasn't 100% to their taste, could be a good thing for their portfolios too, right? OakGoblinFly July 29, 2015 Share July 29, 2015 I'd like to see some subtle make-up challenges (beauty, bruises, tattoos, scars) - something that lets the actor use his face and looks less like an actor wearing a mask. Link to comment

Especially when they all do it. I hate it when the stretch the challenge to include horror, but I don't think the horror industry would be the biggest employer. I would think the main employer would be all the crime shows, so they could still use their skills at the various victims of the week or even just "this character got into a fight, give him some face bruises." I remember earlier seasons had wound challenges for foundation challenges. Link to comment
