But first, a eulogy for: "Are You There God, It's Me Dean Winchester". How fantastic is it that we get to see Dean wrestling with the concept of God and Angels and his own resurrection?  And his go-to comfort food is PIE. I support this life choice. Seeing the former people they couldn't save was an awesome continuity nod and a nice way to raise the stakes. But it's that last scene, with Dean threatening to kick Castiel's ass (and the look on his face when he starts to process what he just did)...well that right there is GOLD.  And a scene which to me cements the potential of this relationship.

Even if I vote both down, one will be far ahead and I wouldn't change the order, so yes for me, LR is the winner.   It's not my turn to vote yet, but I can in a bit if that helps. 

 

I don't have a time for a rewatch and some of season 4 is sketchy in some places, But I did like the return of the ones they couldn't save coming back to haunt them.  Isn't this the one that Cas tells Dean he took him out of hell and he could take him back?  Are you There God...had some really nice moments and the brothers were united for a little while.

 

I wish this show was better at doing two brother story lines at the same time.  It seems like to me, one gets drop while they focus on one and bring it to the front.

Since I suggested we move on and there doesn't appear to be any objections, I thought I should set up the next round. I know it's not noon EST yet, but it's noon somewhere right?

 

This should be an interesting round. I think S4 is where all the episodes seem to have a polarizing effect in the fandom. S5 I think Sam and Dean have a polarizing effect within the fandom, but there seems to be more of a consensus as to what is liked and not liked. Or that's my very unscientific observation anyway, it will be interesting to see if it is correct.

I can think of one fairly polarizing episode, but I expect to lose that one fairly quickly once the bandwagon gets going and I likely won't try to save it, since I may have other eps I'll want to protect instead. This is going to be a little tough for me, becase I like most of the episodes in this season, so it's going to be tough to choose which ones to try to back.

 

For example, I kinda like "Free to Be..." - especially the "Simple Kind Of Man" montage which I think Jensen rocks - and there are eps I dislike much more, but hmm don't know if I'll try to save it yet or not.

S5 is so frustrating for me.  Every episode has either a remarkable acting scene or an important character or plot point wrapped inside a shitty, poisonous taco that I don't even want to upvote those important parts.  Blergh LOL

I wish they had Swap Sam with Dean like they had talked about instead of what they did.  Also why is it anytime Dean gets praise from family it is very seldom from his family.  ;(  At least Swap Meat points this out and another reason I don't like it.

My opinion only, but I do not get the "Curious Case..." love. Sam is my slight favorite and even I was annoyed by him winning the poker game and how contrived it seemed. But pretty much most of the next few going (besides that one and one other) are going to be sad, since I like most of these episodes, so I can see why almost anything is going to be game here. There are a lot for me here that are very similar in how much I like them, so it's going to be tough to choose between them.

Brady.  That's all I'm going to say about The Devil You Know.  Anyone else want to eulogize?

 

Nope, I think you covered it pretty well. Okay, I will say that I love Mark Sheppard and his almost perfect line delivery.

Brady was the best thing about The Devil You Know. Eric Johnson rocked that part. Bartholomew reminds me of a far lesser Brady and just leaves me pining for Brady.

Oh, now I feel like I wasn't at all clear. I didn't like Brady at all. I found it rather annoying that after five years they decide to introduce this character that was supposedly Sam's bestest friend ever, but we've heard nary a word of, and who supposedly toasted Jessica on the ceiling--when we all know it was really Yellow Eyes--just so Sam could have someone to get his revenge on. Not something I cared for one bit.

Oh I agree that the introduction of Brady was stupid but I really liked Brady himself as demons go. But then so much od season 5 is stupid like the idea that Dean was just pining for Lisa all this time. Whatever show.
