formerlyfreedom March 11, 2015 Share March 11, 2015 Danny convinces Justin to have a one night stand, but when he can't end it quickly, the gang has a "trial" to decide who is a bigger jerk: Justin or Danny. At the bar, Justin hires a new bartender, Candace, who isn't quite getting the hang of her new job. Meanwhile, Leslie thinks a gym is using a suggestive picture of her to their advantage, and the guys decide to take matters into their own hands. Link to comment
Roaster March 18, 2015 Share March 18, 2015 I laughed. Better than I remember from last season. Shelly had some good lines. Was surprised this show came back, but maybe it will turn into something decent. 1 Link to comment
Irlandesa March 18, 2015 Share March 18, 2015 I don't remember when or why I started watching this last season. It looked like it was going to be another bland, lame sitcom with an awful title. But I did watch and maybe it's because I set the bar very low, but I saw something I liked in this show. It's not great. It is very simple. Heck, it could even be bland but it's the kind of bland that makes me laugh. I guess the fact that it has a pretty funny casts helps it out. I also like that they have genuine nice moments between Justin and Danny like at the end of tonight's episode. I don't know if it has quite made the leap to better than average but I do think it has the right elements to do so. Link to comment
niklj March 18, 2015 Share March 18, 2015 I hope they give Bridgit Mendler a bigger part because she is an absolute gem with great comic timing. So far her character seems pretty limited, so I'm really hoping they don't just dumb down her character as the "ditzy waitress" because she really deserves more than that. 1 Link to comment
Good Queen Jane March 18, 2015 Share March 18, 2015 I had not seen this before, but I found this episode enjoyable. This seems like a fun group to spend a half an hour with. I did laugh at Candace memory aids for names and almost everything Shelly did. 1 Link to comment
ottoDbusdriver March 18, 2015 Share March 18, 2015 Chris D'Elia -- still not funny. I did laugh at Candace's memory aids for names and almost everything Shelly did. Shelly is awesome. Candace's memory aids were pretty good, and she's really cute too. Link to comment
candall March 18, 2015 Share March 18, 2015 I'm surprised these semi-losers got a second season, but I like the show well enough. Chris D'Elia played Whitney Cummings' boyfriend in her show and I thought those characters had JUST calmed down and hit their comedy stride when it was canceled. I'm in it for him--I like sardonic. 1 Link to comment
DeLurker March 19, 2015 Share March 19, 2015 Chris D'Elia -- still not funny. Shelly is awesome. I flipped in to see if it had gotten better because I love the Funches, but D'Elia is intolerable. candall March 19, 2015 Share March 19, 2015 D'Elia and Cummings combined Is my version of hell. Turned up to 11, Heee. I know what you're talking about, but toward the end, she stopped chewing on glass, both as a character and as a writer/producer. The other characters got some interesting screen time, 'Whitney' was occasionally vulnerable instead of constantly abrasive and D'Elia did better when he had a better partner to respond to. I think it had the potential for turning into a very good show. Oh well. Link to comment
ottoDbusdriver March 19, 2015 Share March 19, 2015 Since there's no separate Media topic, here's a blooper clip from this making of this episode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPGYuhkQH4I Link to comment
Kromm March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 Most of last season was TRULY awful, other than Ron Funches. I hesitantly watched this and was surprised. The dialogue and jokes both seemed far better. I still want to punch D'Elia in the face, but they wrote a better framework for him too. He's always going to be the worst thing about this show, but they used him a bit better here. Hopefully this one episode wasn't an aberration and maybe we've got a bunch of better new writers (since last season's seemed like hacks, admittedly ones handicapped by the idea that this was D'Elia's star vehicle and he had to be front and center). Irlandesa March 22, 2015 Share March 22, 2015 (edited) I love that blooper clip. Thank you for posting it. These days, blooper "montages" seem to be in style and so you usually only get a few seconds of the 'blooper." But what usually makes a blooper funny to me is the context. If I'm going to laugh at someone breaking, it's not because they break, it's because of what led up to it, who broke first. Someone saying their lines wrong isn't funny (unless it is) but 90% of the time the humor comes from the reaction, not the actual incident. This clip let the mistakes breathe. As for the show, I do find D'Elia somewhat annoying but I do like the rest of the cast. And I honestly think I love Brent Morin. Edited March 22, 2015 by Irlandesa Link to comment
