jnymph November 9, 2014 Share November 9, 2014 (edited) I know he's no longer of this world, but I felt he deserved his own thread and is worthy of further discussion/speculation. I've really like this show a lot, but John Carroll Lynch & his portrayal of Twisty was nothing short of incredible. I don't scare easy but his depiction of this ultimate creepy clown had my hair standing on end. I don't know how to feel now that he's gone. I enjoy the Freaks but found myself waiting on pins and needles for Twisty's appearance, now I'm just..............meh. I agree with other posters in the Mordrake thread saying the demise of Twisty would've made a great finale, but with a damn better explanation of WHY Mordrake took him. It still doesn't make sense to me. I know Ryan Murphy said that in Freakshow, once you're dead, you're dead. But I'm hoping he's lying yet again and perhaps we may get a glimpse of what the afterlife is like for Twisty? Although I don't see how that would be as interesting, awesome, creepy and fucking terrifying as the killer clown that walked the Earth. Sigh. Edited November 10, 2014 by jnymph 1 Link to comment
Bruinsfan November 11, 2014 Share November 11, 2014 He's also said that Mordrake and Twisty will return this season, so being dead may not matter. I thought I recalled an interview where he said nothing would be supernatural this season but obviously that went out the window as soon as Mordrake showed up in his Dracula-style green fog. 1 Link to comment
Dirtybubble November 12, 2014 Share November 12, 2014 If I had to guess what's gonna happen is by the end of this season it will be next Halloween and maybe Mordrake and Twisty come back to take someone like Dandy or maybe Elsa with them. IDK, just a guess but it's the only way I can see both coming back and still maintaining the rules. 1 Link to comment
Rhetorica November 12, 2014 Share November 12, 2014 This was my morning cryptogram from Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy: "To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad." 4 Link to comment

Then I really wanted the ol' "Hey, it's resurrection-o-rama time!" rules to come back into play, at least as a one-time special exception for him. So, yeah, me too, on the "so mad" bit. Twisty's my fave, man! 1 Link to comment

They both make triumphant returns. I was shocked to read so many of these “RIP Twisty” websites and blogs have sprung up. People love Twisty. I think that’s due to the power of John as an actor. I think he’s just so mesmerizing and sympathetic. We talked a lot about that. He didn’t just want to be a killer clown. He wanted an ideology and a backstory, and I think that clown’s backstory is so fascinating and bizarre. We’re talking on Halloween day and I’ve already seen three Twistys, so he apparently hit a nerve. I love him. I loved his performance. He will return. But on September 15, 2014, (as encyclopedia brown notes above) RM told the same reporter: [T]here’s no supernatural element…well a little bit. It’s very much in that Asylum world. There’s no sort of Elizabeth Montgomery/Bewitched stuff going on. This season, once you die, you’re dead. There’s no supernatural thing to bring you back like last year. It’s just completely new. It feels completely new. I’m shooting it in a different style. It sounds different. So how do two characters "make triumphant returns" with "no supernatural thing to bring you back"? 1 Link to comment

Well...Edward Mordrake in himself is supernatural. I would take that to mean once you die, you stay dead, but if you're part of Edward's people you'll be able to come back, at least occasionally. I don't take it to mean Ma Pettie or Gloria or anyone else will be returning. 1 Link to comment
Mattipoo December 6, 2014 Share December 6, 2014 (edited) IMHO, they shouldn't have killed off Twisty so early in the season because I thought he was the most interesting character by far. Dandy is a good villain but he is not scary at all. If I were a writer, I would integrate Twisty into the main storyline with the freaks and have him go after / kill the freaks instead of the annoying Stanley/Maggie. Then at the end of the season the freaks gang up to kill Twisty and he gets taken by Edward Mordrake. That would be a better and more cohesive season than whatever is going on now. Just my 2 cents. Thank you, thank you, thank you Mattipoo. Your story is so much better and satisfying to me, than RM's chaotic nonsense, that it brings a tear to my eye. In my alternate universe this is how I shall remember AHS Freakshow. Bravo! *sniff* 1 Link to comment
Avaleigh December 8, 2014 Share December 8, 2014 I'm actually okay with Twisty being gone. I don't have a problem with him returning in some limited capacity but as far as feeling like I need to see more of his story I can't say that this is the case for me. I feel like I know all that I need to know and that there isn't really anything left to be revealed. With Dandy I still feel like there are more surprises in store. Link to comment

Avaleigh, I know what you’re saying, there’s no real turning back now. His story has already been told. My gripe however that it was all revealed too soon. I wish he would have been used more in the storyline; and his background details should have been incorporated into the finale. Link to comment
gunderda December 19, 2014 Share December 19, 2014 I miss Twisty :( I'm ok with him being gone because honestly his scenes gave me a lot of anxiety but I still miss him! I tried to explain why Mordrake took him to a friend of mine and it's kind of hard to explain but I totally understood why. It all happened when Twisty was explain why he did "good" things and then we were shown why they were really evil and bad. He said he saved that boy from his mean parents (he killed the parents and kidnapped the boy) - then he got the boy a nice good looking babysitter (he killed the girls boyfriend and kidnapped her) and I can't remember the rest... but Twisty was so psychotic that to him, what he was doing was suppose to be nice and sincere when in reality it was beyond evil. But he wasn't being evil to be evil (like Dandy). His soul was still pure. Or something like that. Link to comment
Bruinsfan December 22, 2014 Share December 22, 2014 I don't know about that - I kind of got the impression that Mordrake was taken aback by how much denial Twisty was in over his own misdeeds, and that his rationalizations for the crimes he committed compounded his guilt rather than absolving him of it. Stringey March 6, 2017 Share March 6, 2017 Poor twisty his backstory is sad. I am not sure though how he was surviving with that massive open wound on his face. Link to comment
