WendyCR72 October 23, 2014 Share October 23, 2014 The Jeffersonian team attends a forensic science convention with Brennan delivering the keynote speech, only to discover the remains of a body in a stairwell at the convention. With numerous convention attendees offering help and their products, evidence points to Dr. Hodgins as a suspect and the team has to find a way to prove his innocence. Meanwhile, Brennan runs into her publishing rival, Tess Brown and "squintern" Wendell Bray has news about his cancer diagnosis and returns to work with Jeffersonian team. No new episode tonight; this is for next week. But I figured it wouldn't hurt to post this now, so I don't forget to do so later on! :-) 2 Link to comment
shapeshifter October 31, 2014 Share October 31, 2014 Janis Joplin had a line in a song: "I hate to have to be the one to tell ya," which expresses my sentiments about posting first for this episode, but it must be said: WTH were the attendees of the convention doing investigating the case???!!!! When they discovered the acid ate through the foil as a chemical delay to the fire, even Bones could have been a suspect. Of course I was sure that was going to be Hodgins' shoe print. They never did explain how Bad Novelist red herring number 1 saw the body burning. Seriously: Where can I get the blouse Angela wore in her first scenes? 1 Link to comment
Actionmage October 31, 2014 Share October 31, 2014 but it must be said: WTH were the attendees of the convention doing investigating the case???!!!! Yes. Also, why would they use these new, not-on-the-market-yet aids which they were only told wouldn't be harmful to the evidence? Told by who? the makers of said products. I get that Hodgins' would go gaga over new "toys", but Can should have held firm and had folks wait until their proven gear could get hauled to them. And that it took only twenty-four hours?! I get what the writers wanted to happen, but the set-up was weak. I enjoyed the episode despite the nitpicks because I like the cast. Booth? Temperance is going to joke with other scientists. Please don't tell her how others will react. I actually enjoyed both jokes and smiles at them each time. (Show? Booth doesn't have to be shown as dumb; I'm sure some folks would have snickered or giggled at "his" joke. No need to be that way to Booth.) ::waves at Wendell:: 1 Link to comment
LakeGal October 31, 2014 Share October 31, 2014 I think we all knew the dead body was the redhead immediately. I also expected the footprint to belong to Hodges. I really wondered about them using all these new untested products. I had a lot of moments in this episode where I was shaking my head. 1 Link to comment

They will only have anyone involved follow proper police procedure in any given episode if it creates conflict and drama or cherry pick certain parts of proper procedure to follow but not others for the same reason, but otherwise pretty much ignore how real law enforcement would handle any given situation and Bones is no exception. I think they intended the whole episode to be a farce, for all the reasons mentioned above. Link to comment

Yeah, I don't think this episode was intended to be taken very seriously at all, including how the investigation is conducted. 1 Link to comment

immortalfrieza November 2, 2014 Share November 2, 2014 I used to love this show. Now it feels like a chore to sit through an episode. I can't see why, the writing and acting is just as good as it ever was, if not better, and the kind of obviously fake stuff they do has always been something the show does. Bones is probably one of the very few shows to last this long that has managed to stay consistently good the entire time. 1 Link to comment
Shadda2 November 2, 2014 Share November 2, 2014 I just kind of watch at this show now. I do like the characters but they lost me when they told me Hodgen's lost his billions in sixty seconds of wire transfers. That's impossible on so many levels that I can't watch this show with any amount of credibility now. Of course the science has never been completely accurate, but then I don't know enough about that to tell, but even a 12 year old knows you can't take billions of dollars in probably thousands of different financial vehicles and transfer them in one minute. Or even five minutes. Or even 30 days. And don't even get me started on Hodgen's "I'm just one of the little people now" patronizing attitude. I think I watch this out of habit now I'm still mixed on the new guy but I think I like him. Definitely agree about them being the ones to investigate the death. So would not happen. I'm not sure if the writers are stupid or they think we are or both. I'm going for both. Apparently I'm grumpy today. Sorry. 2 Link to comment

Bones is probably one of the very few shows to last this long that has managed to stay consistently good the entire time. Not in my eyes. I loved the earlier seasons. Couldn't wait for a new episode and always watched it the same day. I honestly can't pinpoint the moment when I stopped caring. This episode was so beyond dumb. I guess I should have just went with it instead of expecting it to have some basis in reality. Link to comment

This kind of attitude is one that most everybody should have regarding fiction in general, including Bones. In fact, NOT having a basis in reality is the entire point of fiction. 1 Link to comment
Clanstarling November 4, 2014 Share November 4, 2014 I still like the show, but I have to admit, during one of the lab scenes I zoned out and started working out a work problem in my head. I didn't bother to back up and find out what I'd missed. That's never happened before. That being said, even if the rest of the team were technically able to be suspects - having and ACTUAL suspect work on the forensics would be catastrophic to any prosecution case, possibly even with a confession. IIRC, there was an episode that addressed that very issue - maybe even with Hodgins when he was previously a suspect - or am I confusing it with another procedural? 1 Link to comment
