Personally, I think she’s come up with this new version of events to get away from being branded a lying racist.

Exactly.

She's a thoroughly sick and pathetic woman who can't help but lie everytime she opens her mouth.

If she was in fact taken prisoner by her ex rather than two non-existent Hispanic women, why not say THAT when the cops confronted her about finding his DNA?

And villainize her ex-husband at the same time.

Along with her ex-boyfriend.

It's pathetic how she's still trying to do that--first she claimed to the ex that her husband was abusing her and that's why she needed to stay with him, and now she's saying the same thing because.  . .?

Does she even know?

I could have actually had a sliver of respect for her if she admitted to lying through her teeth, even if she still wanted to blame it on some mental disorder, which she clearly has. But instead, she keeps lying and looking to blame someone else.

She has a long history of lying about a lot of things.  This isn't the first time she claimed Hispanic women attacked her, and it was a lie then also.  She also claimed her parents abused her, and that was proven to be a lie too.

I don’t know how she charmed the other prisoners, especially those who weren’t white. She said, once they heard her story, they were on her side. Seriously?!  She’s not even a good liar.  She’s lucky they bought her lies after throwing an entire community under the bus.  Pathological.

I don't believe her for one second. If she truly only lied about the 2 Hispanic women because she was afraid of James, once the police told her they had tracked her to him and had talked to him, she would have been like "Oh thank god, now I can tell you the truth because I was afraid he would hurt me. But since you know about him now, without me telling you, I can finally tell you what really happened." But no, she doubled down on the lie and also just became speechless and put on her white woman tears when she couldn't think of a way out of her lies.

If, as she claims, that the blaming of the 2 Mexican women was just a way to steer the police to James, she would have said so when the police told her they had found James. She only came up with that story now. She could have just claimed when she was first "found" that she remembered nothing about her abduction, just like how in this show she conveniently doesn't "remember" how she ended up in the van. But no, she lied for years and when given opportunities to recant or change her story, she continued to blatantly lie.

What is particularly galling for me too is that so much of the time, she smirked and laughed and this whole thing is just a joke and fame grab for her. She reminds me of Lori Vallow Daybell. Not to say Keith is perfect or doesn't have his own agenda, but I definitely do not believe anything Sherri says.

Oh thank heaven you all feel the same way I did watching this train wreck!  I'll even give her some grace - her husband might have been super controlling - but the woman is nuts and she has somehow surrounded herself with people who are supporting her and willing to drink her Kool-Aid (lawyer, therapist...).  She is the queen of revisionist history.

Sherri wouldn't know the truth if it hit her over the head with a mallet and, to this day, continued to merrily make sh** up rather than face the truth.

She told the FBI she was kidnapped by Hispanic women and helped with a sketch which she claimed looked just like James' mother because she thought that this would immediately tip them off that James was the kidnapper? Huh, that makes no sense whatsoever even if it wasn't shown to be total BS.  Neither James nor his mother are Hispanic, nor does his mother resemble the sketch except vaguely. Then, when confronted, Sherri doubles down by declaring she'd only met the mother a couple of times, didn't actually know her ethnicity which completely blows her previous story out of the water but she doesn't see it.

When the interviewer asked her about why she lied to the FBI and she deflected by asking, 'Haven't you ever told a lie?  Everybody lies.'  Everybody lies about their weight or how many drinks they had last night but virtually NOBODY lies to the FBI because they know the difference between a lie and a felony charge of perjury.  That she would even pretend that her actions were understandable and most people would do the same just shows how delusional she is.

Her complete lack of self-awareness was mind blowing.  I don't think her ex or James are saints, either, but Sherri seemingly brought it all on herself and I found myself hoping she continues to be denied contact with her kids.  She is toxic, IMO.

Because there's too many to quote, I just want to say I agree with all the posts made since my last one.

This reminds me of the Alternate Character Interpretation trope, even though we're dealing with a real person--was Keith really a control freak, or was he like that because he could never really trust her because of her history of dishonesty?

I remember reading an interview with him sometime after she'd been sent to prison when he recalled walking into her hospital room after she'd been "found" and thinking to himself "This is a lie, this is a lie", but then stopping when he saw how battered she was.

I'd say she has Munchausen Syndrome except instead of faking illnesses in order to get sympathy/attention, she tells stories like this.

I forgot to mention that her family law attorney, the blond woman, was pretty nuts herself. Not to diminish her trauma if it was true, but her story about being in Mexico partying and then finding herself on a yacht and being sexually assulted seemed pretty out there. She claims she did what she had to in order to survive and get off the boat, but did she ever say if she filed a police report?

Nope, her somewhat frantic search for her vape in the middle of the interview also showed her to be somewhat 'out there'.  I think there's a reason she practices with her father; I don't picture most law firms thinking she'd be an asset.

After she was arrested, I remember reading an article about how while she was missing, another ex-boyfriend/friend/relative was watching the news coverage and laughing their head off because they instinctively knew that this was yet another one of her crazy stunts.
