NeenerNeener April 19 Share April 19 So we still don't know who they buried in the garden? I hope they aren't saving the reveal for a future season. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153055-s01e09-the-cup/#findComment-8639949
AnimeMania April 19 Author Share April 19 I was surprised that Birdie didn't take a video of Riku at the bar. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153055-s01e09-the-cup/#findComment-8640000
possibilities April 19 Share April 19 I loved that they lost due to cultural appropriation, and then was disappointed that CA was just an excuse and they really lost because of corruption, with the other club's leader being involved with the judge. I was also surprised there was only one judge and not a committee, but I can handwave that part because apparently this is more of a country club status type competition and not a more community based endeavor, and the judge was supposedly high status and connected to Oprah. I also thought it was good that they replaced the president of their club-- this wasn't her first mistake-- but was kind of surprised they chose Catherine for the job, since she was also shown to be harsh and unpopular. How does this club operate, anyway? Do they have bylaws? How do the least popular people get the leadership positions? Is it all about money or something? And then of course Catherine somehow declined her Presidency and got the deposed Marilyn the job back without consulting the rest of the group-- I can't see that winning her or Marilyn any loyalty. Two scenes from previous episodes keep popping into my head: One in which Birdie tells her cop/lover that she and her friends murdered someone. Surely that is a revelation that will come back to haunt them. And another scene after the murder where Catherine is saying it's all her (Catherine's) fault. Did I make that up? I thought Alice had truly been moved by her husband's father, and that's why she invited the parents to dinner. But her telling his mom that she did it for leverage? Wow. I liked Birdie realizing she likes her new friends and her birthson more than her old friends and lifestyle. It's petty of me, and of the show, I realize. But her former friends were very unpleasant. Her new friends are actually fairly unpleasant also, though. So it's kind of funny in a way that really nobody on this show is very likable. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153055-s01e09-the-cup/#findComment-8640219
blackwing April 21 Share April 21 There's supposedly 13 episodes this season, we have already seen 9, and very little movement on discovering who was killed. We didn't even get any new clues this episode to rule anyone out. Unless it was supposed to be a big reveal that the dead person is NOT Alice's father-in-law, in which case, who cares. Is the twist going to be that Doug's father is gay? The father comes across as quite gay to me. Too much Marilyn. She was funny in small doses when she was barking orders about marigolds but now that they've practically made her a main character, I find her way too annoying. Most of the people on this show are annoying. And while I like Aja Naomi King, Ben Rappoport and Melissa Fumero, I don't think I would be that unhappy if this show got cancelled. The pacing and use of the timeline jumps are terrible. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153055-s01e09-the-cup/#findComment-8641655

Well now I'm disappointed. I'm about 4 episodes behind and I was getting bored with the show. I thought I'd pop in here to see if they'd said who was killed and if that would inspire me to catch up but maybe not. possibilities April 21 Share April 21 I think they will reveal who was killed in the finale. I think they are following the pattern of "How To Get Away With Murder" which revealed who the murderer was at the end of each season. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153055-s01e09-the-cup/#findComment-8641697
Absolom April 21 Share April 21 I'm trying to hang on and finish the season. If it didn't have the mystery to be revealed, I believe the network would have already announced the cancellation. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153055-s01e09-the-cup/#findComment-8641714

Everyone annoys me. I’m rooting for no one. The pacing is off and the timeline is confusing. I wanted to like this show, the premise is good-ish, but something isn’t working. 4 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153055-s01e09-the-cup/#findComment-8642537
