It is usually dispensed as a liquid in methadone clinics because it is easier to taper the dosage than if you're using pills. But, he gave him the drink then said he would give him his prescription for methadone. So he took one dose right then and there and would be sent home either with more doses or a prescription for same? That's what threw me. I don't know why he would have one dose just sitting there ready in his office, I've never seen a doctor do that. Some require you to come in twice a day and receive all meds directly from them. Other facilities may dispense some doses in the clinic and let you take responsibility for giving the rest to yourself at home. It really depends on how much the clinic trusts you not to overdose yourself with your home supply. 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152942-s14e07-episode-7/page/2/#findComment-8661914

He had been clean as he was in jail, got out and did heroin. I've read it was more pure than what he had been used to and I read that his body wasn't prepared for the does as would be the case with this man. Yes. That’s exactly what happened. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152942-s14e07-episode-7/page/2/#findComment-8662530
mmecorday Thursday at 08:45 PM Share Thursday at 08:45 PM I was not familiar with Wine Gums. It sounds like a periodontal disease one gets from drinking too much chardonnay. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152942-s14e07-episode-7/page/2/#findComment-8662715

It makes sense to keep accused and accuser far apart and try to avoid having them cross paths. As others have said, there was going on they didn't need more drama. That is certainly the way medical boards in the US handle things. A complaint is received; the board obtains the pertinent medical records and a committee is tasked with investigating the situation. If the patient involved is able, they are called to testify in a private hearing before the board. The patient's heir(s) can also be called and give their view of the situation if the patient isn't able. Pertinent witnesses including other medical providers, friends, family, etc are also called to testify as to what they witnesses and the practitioner's employer would be asked about the defendant's work history, prior complaints, disciplinary actions, etc. All of this would be done privately, these are not open hearings. The final step is the accused being called to give their own statement as well as to answer any questions the board might have based on the other testimony in the case. Usually, the board would meet at a later date to discuss the case and come to a conclusion; that's the only part the show didn't get right; it usually takes a couple months for that to happen. Depending on the nature as well as the initial facts they receive, the board can opt to suspend the license of the practitioner named immediately and not restore it until either the practitioner is not found in error or until various sanctions have been carried out. A complaint such as the one against Joyce would typically not require her license be suspended for the investigation. 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152942-s14e07-episode-7/page/2/#findComment-8664703

Maybe I missed it, but I don't think it was ever explained. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152942-s14e07-episode-7/page/2/#findComment-8664974
