S05.E11: A Race for The Stars

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure why, but I was very surprised that this would be a two episode final. I can't remember if last season was also two episodes. Oh well. Color me surprised that after the first phase Mel and Nicole were first and Shane and Da'vonne were second. That was not on my bingo card. Frank was annoying off the bat, and I'm glad they came in last. The most well rounded team will win this final, at first I thought that would be Adam and Steve, but Shane and Da'vonne are really surprising me. At this point, anyone but Frank and Sam, and I'm rally hoping they come in last. I feel bad for Sam, but Frank is the worst.

One thing I like that editing is doing is really leaning into the working dynamics of the pairs, which builds more suspense for whether they will share the money or steal it. The biggest tension is Shane and Da'vonne, I think they have the biggest risk of not splitting it. Mel and Nicole, and Adam and Steve I think would share it no problem. Frank and Sam would likely share, but the path to winning is so narrow that I'm not thinking about it. Or maybe that's wishful thinking on my part.

Looking forward to the finale. Maybe that will answer why they put it on MTV instead of paramount+.

Same. I thought this was one and done.

I didn't watch it live so I stayed away from the internet just so I wouldn't be spoiled by people talking about who the winners were, only to be disappointed that we didn't get a winner yet.

Sam comes back on The Challenge after ALL THESE YEARS... and they give her PTSD by putting her on a sand dune with Frank AGAIN!!!!

It's like hell is going to freeze over and pigs are going to fly because Shane and Da'Vonne become Challenge champions.

Lastly, I expected a more traditional final with a lot more running.

Decent start to the finale. It'll probably go to shit in the finale, so we should enjoy things while we can.

It's the first final for both of them, so the rules are out the window. Shane's been appearing on the show for over twenty years. Not every season, of course. That would be REALLY sad.

Thought that occurred to me: between the eight finalists, they have three titles apiece. Two titles if you count Frank and Sam winning on Battle of the Seasons as one win.

Another thought: out of those that won five eliminations, Sarah is the only one that was "handsomely rewarded." Wes & Casey finished third in Fresh Meat and Horacio had to drop out of Ride or Dies when Olivia got hurt. Not good for Steve & Adam.

Shane is a pissy little bitch. That is all.

I had this image of Sam getting to the top of the dune before Frank, only for Zach to appear and shove her back down.

I'm rooting for Steve & Adam, and for Steve to screw Adam. I'm still convinced BMP isn't big on him. It's one thing when he screwed up the place settings . . . but then TJ had to tell him and Adam about it. That was a dick move.

Shane is whiny, sure, but I actually rewound the previous episode to see how "mean" he was to Da'Vonne, and even though he had a raised voice, hers was raised also, and he didn't say anything ad hominem (ad feminem?).  And she was downright mean this time (when they were eating)  I guess God told her to be?

Wish Sam and Steve could win....I guess I wouldn't be too upset if Nicole and Christina won just because it would be cool if an all-woman team won, and Nicole hasn't been awful this time.  And maybe then we wouldn't see her for a while.
