Unsecure website or site can't be reached issues

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to let you know that if you're experiencing either a security warning, a website can't be reached error or a related issue, I'm experiencing it as well. I have no idea what is going on; the security certificate was renewed last year and there were no alerts that anything else was about to expire on the back end.
I have already passed it on to AllAstronauts.

The info for your site shows:

Websites prove their identity via certificates, which are valid for a set time period. The certificate for forums.primetimer.com expired on 3/22/2025.

The certificate for  www.primetimer.com  is still good. It is the certificate for the subdomain of forums.primetimer.com that is expired.

Thank you. I'll check with the site owner. Of course, the site owner's going on vacation today...

I also haven't heard from AllAstronaut's.

I apologize for the troubles and the delay.

Sorry kids, my bad (I guess?).

The security certificate automatically renewed as expected (we went through this three months ago to make this happen); but the webserver did not automatically restart to on-board the new certificate.

Carry on...

PS: Yes, the new Primetimer upgrade is a touch behind; too much work, only one me. It's close though.

I don't know if it was just my experience but in some cases of an expired certificate I'm given the option to proceed anyway, but this time I wasn't, and not on any browser I have either (Chrome, Edge, Opera, etc.). So I couldn't access the site at all while this was going on. I did later find one browser that offered me that option but I didn't have the time to post by then.

I am on a Mac and all browsers let me override the warning. The warning screen has an "Advanced..." button. If you click the "Advanced..." button you can then click the "Accept the Risk and Continue" button to proceed. Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Brave web browsers all have a similar option.

That was my experience too for the first few times I tried to access Primetimer (no "proceed" option) while the security certificate wasn't working.
Now I'm seeing it on another site I regularly consult while playing Wordle, bestwordlist.com:

My internet (Spectrum), which serves a lot of NY, has been glitching lately too (they're working on it).
Although there are countless human reasons for any of this (mostly Stupid or Sleepy or Greedy or Foolish, but perhaps Nefarious*), my trusty weatherman mentioned a while back (IIRC) that there would be a crap ton of sunspot storms happening around this time.
Regardless, it's up to humans to troubleshoot, and Primetimer just has one human to address issues here in the parking lot at the end of the frontage road of the information superhighway.

*And now I'm thinking of writing a graphic novel that's a modern take on the old fairy tale titled, perhaps: Slow Night and the Seven Dorks.

That wasn’t the case for me. I was able to click on the link to proceed to the site anyway and did so.

I was able to access the site during the "down" time. Others also figured it out and posted here. Thankfully, @CM-BlueButterflynoticed it first and got involved quickly.

Thanks again for the quick response.
