Fictional Towns We Would Or Wouldn't Want To Live In

Recommended Posts

Would definitely NOT want to live in:

Mayberry: Living in Mayberry is proof that one can, in fact, die of boredom. Sure, the crime rate is low, but I've always theorized that Sheriff Andy had sinister, less-than-legal methods of keeping it that way.

Stars Hollow: My god, Phoebe Buffay would find the excessive quirkiness of this place unbearable. I agree with Emily Gilmore that Stars Hollow is made up mostly of "carnies and misfits" who have absolutely nothing meaningful going on in their lives, which is why they fixate on the daily activities of a random kid. I've griped before about the "town's favorite son/daughter" elsewhere, and by golly, I'm going to gripe about it again. It's dumb, it's weird, it's unfair to other kids, and you're just setting up said favorite son/daughter for failure, because the real world's going to be harder and more competitive than their cozy small town!

Ooh, fun idea!

I second that I wouldn’t want to live in Stars Hollow (or any small town for that matter). I sure as hell wouldn’t want to live in Sunnydale either (and not just because of the Hellmouth). I only would stay in Hawkins long enough to check out the Starcourt Mall and Scoops Ahoy, and then GFTO before the mall blew up lol.

Gosh, now I’m wondering where in TV Land I’d want to live. Maybe in the Futurama version of Earth…

I'd love to live in the Full House version of San Francisco, where a three story house apparently goes for a song. Of course, I'd have to suffer having the Tanners as neighbors, but, y'know, sour with the sweet...

You like Kimmy?

Hola there, Fitcherito!

1989 Ludlow.

2019 Ludlow has Jete Lawrence and a kid with a diacritical mark is just too 1996 and not in a Wannabe way.

I can't decide if the Futurama version of Earth is more or less chaotic than our present time.

Oh, who the hell am I kidding, it's definitely less...

Anyway, I think you'd have to already be kind of nutty to survive living in Springfield or Quahog.

Plus, if you worked for Planet Express you’d get to go on space adventures. Just saying…

I’d also love to live with the Golden Girls.

South Park is certainly not my list of places I'd like to live. Do I really need to say why?

If I ever stopped there, it would only be long enough to kick Gerald and Randy in the balls.

Hell, I think we should all add Westeros to the list of places I’d never want to live in, especially after the final season. Burn them all.

I don't think I'd want to know the person who'd actually want to live in Westeros.

Anyone who likes incest but hates weddings.

Its not living there but I wouldn’t mind spending time in any of the places on White Lotus even with the specter of death looming over the vacation.

2nd post but I would hate to live in the wilderness on Yellowjackets.   I could deal with the cannibalism but the lack of television or WiFi (yes I know the time period predates it) would likely drive me to it.

Also any of the ships on Battlestar Galactica.  Yay female president and traveling in space would be fun but I have my needs .

On The flip side I think I might enjoy living on The Orville

You could cope with cannibalism? Yikes! If we ever meet for lunch, I'm ordering vegetarian.

The Federation from Star Trek seems to be the friendliest and kindest place in all science fiction. I haven't seen enough of the Orville to compare it.

Fuck true love, I would never live in the world of Outlander. Give me washing machines and the right to vote any day!!

Note: I realized too late that I unintentionally plagiarized this same point from someone here on Primetimer (who phrased it in a cooler fashion). Whoever you are, my apologies, there was no malicious intent.

At least we can agree that it wouldn't be fun to live in the world of Outlander.
