S02.E03: Wrap Thee in Terror

Recommended Posts

The immigrant processing at Ellis Island is tedious and demeaning. Alex’s physical exam is intrusive and traumatizing. She meets a couple of helpful gentlemen along the way — the newsstand guy and the ticket clerk. Hopefully the sketchy guy outside the women restroom will be a nothing burger.

We barely see Spencer in this episode. He only appears in the last 8 minutes. Alex will arrive in Montana earlier than him. 🙄

Elizabeth is acting like an ungrateful child — refusing rabies shots and wanting “no part of” ranch life. Grow up! 😒

I don’t really care about Zane and his health condition.

Where’s Teonna? Her storyline gets draggy, uninteresting and more disjointed this season. Do we really need to see more cruelty? Hope Marshal Fosset will deal with Marshal Kent and Father Renaud soonest possible.

The scenes on Ellis Island and a turn of the century NYC were magnificent! They are flawlessly created.... so true to the experience.

I cried when I saw Grand Central Station.

Bravo to Alexandra on her adventure... traveling all alone to the US and then soon to travel across the US to Montana.

She will have quite the story to tell her grandchildren

I love this show.

I want to love the show too and I kind of do (or used to), but it frustrates me.  The scenery and photography and acting and music -- all top notch.   But for some reason the trip home to Montana by Spencer and Alexandra is frustrating me to No End.

And I'm really over watching women being demeaned and mistreated on the show.  Yes, I know it was (and sadly, is) a hard world for women alone.  But l'm sad enough in RL.   What Alexandra went through in this episode was bad enough.  But I'm really scared about what might happen to her next week and don't think I'll be able to watch if it is as bad as I fear.

Let me see Cara shoot a mountain lion or a two legged marauder.   Better yet we were introduced to Alexandra as a strong, free-spirited woman.   Let her outwit the man whose following her and get a win.

I had a hard time believing that what Alex went through at Ellis Island was historically accurate, and from what I’ve read online, it wasn’t. They processed so many people, most of the medical checks were very basic and quick, and most immigrants were processed in a few hours. Someone on Reddit actually wrote a very in depth post about what the process actually was like. I really do believe that Sheridan just likes showing women being mistreated. I don’t know if he’s just a misogynist or he thinks it’s compelling tv and what viewers want.

I can understand Elizabeth wanting to move back east, but she has become really annoying! She just needs to suck it up for one more month, and then the weather will turn.

I thought Spencer told Alex that they didn’t have indoor plumbing, but Elizabeth had a nice big bathroom with a toilet. Wondering how that works. How did the tank get filled with water? And I don’t remember seeing a septic tank on the property.

Ok, who is Alex exactly? "Alexandra of Sussex" she says at Ellis Island, and she was called the "Countess of Sussex" on the ship when Jennifer told the Captain Spencer killed Arthur in self-defense.

But Arthur's father was called the Duke of Sussex, so it doesn't make sense. I know royal cousins married in England, but I think it's just sloppy writing and lack of basic research on Sheridan's part. One more of my many complaints.

The abuse of women is just too much for me. I have an idea of what will happen in the finale. After this show ends I'm done with his series, not going to bother watching the end of "Yellowstone" and no interest in the others.

It really seems like way too much time is spent on her, but maybe this makes

Spencer has been away from the ranch since possibly 1917. Maybe Cara didn't think to write "If you need another inducement to come home, we now have indoor plumbing!"
