S02.E14: Missing While Matched

I don’t know what to think about Jamie because the way that storyline is unraveling is so sloppy. Giving him time to settle is one thing but letting him get close to them (and M&A) without confirming his identity (it’s been a few weeks now I think?) is ridiculous. If he is the real Jamie, like they’ve been hinting at, then I don’t really get all the cloak and dagger. Just feels dragged out and underwhelming and not like they’re all that interested in actually exploring his traumatic experiences.

Same with Gabi. I was hoping this season would be the end of them bringing up her issues only to use it as fodder for a new case without actually addressing it in any meaningful way, but they show keeps doing it. It’s like they don’t actually want her (or anyone else on the team) to heal. Because how does asking Ethan to be her shrink make any sense? That man has all but told her he hates her. On multiple occasions. I know Gabi wants to speak to someone who knows the truth but there’s got to be another way. Getting psychological advice from someone who isn’t even self aware enough to address his own ethical issues is crazy. And Gabi isn’t dumb so I don’t get how she rationalized Ethan being rude and possessive about Dahn into him just dealing out hard truths. He isn’t a straight shooter, he’s a petty, jealousy man who is only taking this case to satiate his curiosity and not because he cares for her. He literally told her as much. She and Dahn need to open their eyes to reality and run far away.

If this was a better show I’d say this plot would end up further revealing Ethan’s faults and somehow lead to him and Dahn splitting up while Gabi realizes she needs legitimate professional help and a break, but this show doesn’t have the range. I’m guessing Ethan will deliver some tired platitudes that’ll give Gabi some obvious revelation and he’ll be framed as wise and competent. I’m already over it.

Also over whatever they’re setting up between Lacey and Zeke. Their friendship is sweet but I don’t see sexual tension. I actually thought they were building up something between Dahn and Zeke back in season one because they have palpable chemistry.

Lacey opening Zeke's door without checking to see who it is first is driving me crazy. These people are under constant threat and take zero precautions. Likewise, why the hell was "Jamie" in M&A alone long enough to hbreak into Gabi's desk, and why didn't that lead to more serious consequences?

I also thought it was stupid and obnoixious for Trent to go to the prison just to taunt Hugh. C'mon, man. Don't be stupid.

When they stick to cases, or actually deal with the traumas, I'm fine. I dn;'t understand why they are making more and more of an effort to quicksand the show with idiocy.

I haven't watched the episode yet; but STILL no positive ID?? Come on!! Because, yes, if it is really Jamie, there's no need to drag it out so long.

I cringed when Zuri's father revealed that Riley had antisocial personality disorder.  I myself have that in addition to Asperger's Syndrome, and those types of people are not safe to have around.  Granted, I have never kidnapped or killed anyone, or even attempted to, but I have had to fight back the urge several times to do both.

I'm thinking more and more that Jamie is the real deal.  But why he still doesn't want to see his dad or sisters yet mystifies me.

I wonder where he picked up his lockpicking skills and tools.

Given the lax security at that prison, I'm surprised Sir didn't land a punch on Trent's nose through that gaping window.

I'm starting to suspect Margaret's husband of taking Jamie and keeping him away to punish Margaret, or something like that. "They only wanted me"? And his refusal to say anything about who took him or where they had him, and his lack of interest in seeing the rest of the family, all strike me as very strange. I can't imagine her being okay with not telling them he's been found. It seems frankly unethical.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. Pure conjecture, but I think Jamie went willingly with whomever took him. I also got a weird cult-like feeling from Jamie.

Then why doesn't Taylor act the same way, I wonder?

I still don't think "Jamie" is Jamie. I really don't get him. He doesn't act like someone who's been missing. Why is he so interested in Gabi? It's weird. I'm surprised Margaret agreed to ground rules for him instead of flipping out.

I'm glad they were able to solve a case without Sir's help. It really annoyed me when they were having a hard time the team asking Gabi for his help. Come on you can solve cases without his help. Gabi contacting Sir is not a good idea under any circumstances. I'm glad that she didn't take his calls.

Ethan shouldn't be Gabi's therapist. Sure he knows the truth but he's also had issues with her regarding Dhan. I don't see him being unable to separate himself from that to really help her. Or if he even wants too.

I guess Christian is really dead. I really wasn't expecting that.

Even if it is Jamie, he's being SUPER shady, and I'm going to need at least one person from M&A to find out what's up with him, and soon.

Ethan as Gabi's therapist? That seems like a very bad idea, but I guess this show always needs more drama.

I wasn't clear on the timeline of what happened to the kidnapping victim. Might have to re-watch.

I'm actually interested in seeing Lacey and Zeke together, so I hope they don't mess that up, since they seem to be starting something with them. However, so far this show doesn't have a good track record with romances.

If Christian really is dead (it seems so), it's very weird that there was hardly any lead up or follow up to that; not to mention that it all happened offscreen. Did the writers change their minds about him being a part of this season's story? Did the actor become unavailable? I thought that they were going to use Christian to show more about why Sir is the way he is.

Why is it taking so long to identify Jamie? Can't they do fingerprints or something? I really don't care for Margaret at all any more.

Has it ever been said if Zeke is getting help or therapy for his condition? Or are they ok with him just living like that for the rest of his life? Yeah and the no checking before opening the door is stupid.

This show gets real frustrating real fast.

I almost lost it at Jamie claiming that he spoke to the guy who manages the bus station, introduced himself, got a promise from the guy to keep his reappearance secret, and got him to drop the restraining order.

No. That’s not how anything works. Certainly not a restraining order.

Back when I watched A Million Little Things, I said the show should be called Codependent Weirdoes. I feel the same way about this one. These people are nuts and they need help and don’t even get me started on Ethan. He’s always bothered me since the moment he showed up. He tells himself that he’s better than all these people but he’s not. He’s all in on this trauma bonded Borg cube.

It sounds like Christian went back to his home planet. LOL!
