All I can say is put on your big boy pants for this one.  Shit's getting real.

I won't believe that Martian actually did that, but he'll lie low til he can expose Richardson.  And who is Richardson working for really? The Chinese? The Russians?

Martian has been a really bad agent all season. I'm glad nothing bad happened in the hospital, but it could have.

I'm still not totally sure what the mission was in Ukraine, but at least they got Coyote.

And is Samia alive?

There's a BTS video available where they interview cast and creators.

Fassbender said he had a hard time figuring out how to play Martian, until he realized Martian is a sociopath. I think you have to use tendencies that are exhibited by a diagnosed sociopath in order to be undercover for years at a time.  It does make it interesting in that we never know how he's going to react.

I think the clinic just had JSOC operative embedded with the Ukrainians for special missions, to gather intel, etc.  I have a feeling we have that going on IRL.

The season finale wraps up most subplots and sets the stage for season 2. The exhilarating part is the tactical ops in Ukraine.

Coyote is rescued. General Volchok has been taken out, justice for Sylviya.

Felix Op is completed, Charlie is coming home. RIP Sasha. The 3 Felix operatives are the MVP.

Danny aka Gremlins is now in Tehran. More in season 2.

TBH, am not looking forward to see Martian becoming a double agent. I hope we won’t be seeing Sami again next season because her story with Martian has fizzled out halfway through season 1. Martian’s obsession in saving her is getting old. JodieTS is the weakest link here — character and acting wise.

I hope this show will utilize Katherine Waterston more in season 2. She’s criminally underused this season. Let Naomi teaming up with Dr. Blake to expose Martian.

Agree the Felix operation was the most interesting and exciting. I hate to say I laughed when they threw the grenade in the chopper and jumped out.  That whole segment was so stressful to watch and thinking that even fictionally  damage was done to Russians made me feel good for the Ukrainians. And glad Charlie got out alive.

I also like Katherine Waterston. And I'm tired of Sami.

I'm wondering if Martian will be a double agent but for the US. GIve Richardson false intel to see what he's doing with it.

The actress who plays Dr Blake was in the first season of The X FIles. She played the adult version of a young girl who was a clone. There were a bunch of them. For some reason I always recognize her.

I think Naomi and Dr Blake are my two favorite characters. I find them more intelligent and interesting than most of the characters given more screen time. Dani is ok but I get the feeling that the writers see “young female agent” and decide we need to see her sexually harassed, tied up, slapped and bullied to tears. Enough of that.

Martian has really been an idiot over Samia. Because he could not end it with this woman, her life is ruined, maybe even over, his daughter nearly gets kidnapped, and now he’s agreed to be a double agent. All over a love affair he couldn’t end.

I am not familiar with how all these nation’s intelligence agencies work. But I was under the impression NATO allies worked together, sharing information, even working side by side. Is Richardson a double agent himself for a non ally such as China?

I think Op FELIX was the assassination of that Russian high-ranking official - forgot his name and title. Op FELIX was then suspended due to the operation to snatch Coyote - also forgot the name of that operation. Thanks to Sasha's sacrifice, both ops were successfully accomplished.

However, looking at this episode, why the Coyote mission needed to be executed along with Op FELIX? Blue Team could have ambushed Valhalla convoy anywhere. SAC knew the route already.

As I mentioned in another episode thread, how did they pull it, though? How did they prevent real patients to come to the clinic and inadvertently consult the operators? The clinic did seem like a real clinic.

My nitpick for the episode was when the SAC mission manager commented that NORAD gave them the satellite feed. NORAD only operates in, well, North American airspace. Space Command may have been a better choice. Besides, if it was NORAD, the Canadians would have access too. Considering that they did not even share information with the British, not sure if the Canadians should have been involved.

Allies, NATO or otherwise, do spy on each other. Recall the kerfuffle during the Obama administration when it became public that the US was listening in - in secret - to the telephone calls of certain Western European leaders such as Angela Merkel. But recruiting a double agent against from a close ally's own spy agency would seem to be a far more extreme breach of trust. Presumably there are degrees of spying that close allies would not engage in with each other that they might still use against true adversaries. As suggested, for this reason, it may be that the UK here is not really calling the shots.

This whole thing - maybe because of the played target was a middle aged, good-looking, red-headed American spy/military guy - reminded me of Homeland. We'll see how any further similarities spool out.

If Martian were smart, he would tell his superiors and become a double, double agent.

That's what I predicted would be the basis of S2.  It has to be apparent Richardson is a double agent or just selling info to the highest bidder.

According to character info etc Charlie is listed as Dr Charlie Remy.  So he could have gone to med school, then enlisted and become a Delta Force operative.

Delta operators come from 75th Rangers or 1st Special Forces. Rangers are Infantry. While they have physicians, those are only in the headquarters. Special Forces OTOH, specifically barred medical officers and aviators to attend the selection as those already incurred a lot of money for their trainings.

According to US  Army and Marine web site, they do train medics for field deployment.  For special forces teams, etc.

It is a good illustration of how people that you'd expect to be pretty rational and reliable end up doing bad things for the typical reasons: love/sex, power, and money.

Medics are not physicians.

To your point, there is no medic in the U.S. Marines. Medics in Marine units are Navy Corpsmen.

Agree and agree!  The chemistry just wasn’t there and Jodie is not a good actresses.

And love Katherine Waterston!

I just didn’t buy that part, that he is some hot shot agent but was so in love that he blew it all for her?

I didn’t understand the fake phone call Richardson made after Martian and he spoke.  He called Elvis?

In answer to the first question - Yes, I think he did. He broke protocol for returning agents once he saw her in London, and continued to do things to ensure that she could remain in England, even if it didn't really work for his agency.

For the second question - I think this was a "joke" phone call, probably not even connected to anyone, saying he wanted to talk to Elvis and Lord Lucan (who disappeared years ago when he was suspected of murder). It was meant to show Martian that the whole thing was a setup. Until the accident and hospital meeting showed he was serious.
