Just watching this episode tonight (January 14th, because I didn't realize the show was back last week until I went to find this week's thread and realized there were two I hadn't seen; will have to watch tonight's episode on demand tomorrow) and was slightly thrown when she mentioned the Palisades toward the beginning...that fire started the same day this episode aired. Oof.

The fact that Tom and Morgan both cleaned the police office and never met is suspicious, how many people have worked and not met the people who work the shift before or after you?

It's perfectly plausible to me that Tom started working cleaning this particular district roughly when Morgan stopped. It seemed like cleaning was a one-person job, so there'd be no call for Tom and Morgan to be working simultaneously.

It's also plausible to me that they worked different days/different hours and thus didn't really have an occasion to meet. I'm operating under the assumption that Morgan had been in that particular cleaning role for not that long a time.

It's plausible to me that even assuming that there was some overlap in their schedules, Morgan didn't notice Tom because she was trying to keep her big IQ brain focused on particular tasks of cleaning and listening to music and tried to think as little as possible about anything else.

I certainly know that with my lesser brain, there are people who work roughly the same shift as me on my floor, but I only know what they look like and maybe a first name.

I really hope Tom isn’t a bad guy.  He’s super cute and I think they play well off each other.  I’d much rather see Morgan with him than with the cop.  That’s been done way too many times!

My current theory is that Tom has some connection to Morgan's ex's disappearance. I still hold out hope that Ex is still alive for some reason, and think that they will introduce him to serve as an obstacle to Morgan and the cop/Tom.

I had just assumed she was late 30's and Karadec was early 40's.  (I'm surprised the actor is 53!)

Dan was good high school friends with two of my brothers. I think they're somewhat still in touch, but not sure. I didn't really know Dan directly -- we went to different schools. I started watching this show because of Dan, but I don't think either brother does.

OK, I'm glad the show is back, but something just seemed off for me.

First, we have two uber rich guys who pick one new country each year to travel to.  One?  Just one country?   With all that money and the lifestyle they lead?  Now THAT was the most unbelievable part of the episode for me.  Anyone with that much money and who likes to travel would be taking multiple trips each  year, not just limiting themselves to one country per year.  Now, if they said every year they celebrate New Year's or one of their birthdays in a different country (different, not "new") I could buy that.

It's more that they are keeping up a tradition that started from when they were young of doing one family trip a year. That doesn't preclude each of them from traveling separately multiple times. They still could, but it's just that they do one trip together that is presumably particularly long/intense/special/etc. Also as someone else pointed, it could be that Good Brother is the one with dough and Prodigal Brother has wasted enough on hookers and blow that springing for multiple luxury vacations would be rough.

I would also assume that they may not be all that uber rich. If they were, keeping the club open would not necessarily be a big priority because they'd have family money to rely on and other interests, business and otherwise, to pursue.

On another front, maybe someone can help me make sense of the motive/means Edward had for attacking the girlfriend. I can get that he attacked and murdered boyfriend because boyfriend posed a threat to Prodigal Brother/the club. He actually knew something that could cause a scandal, could get the councilperson to seek revenge, etc.

However, as far as we knew, girlfriend didn't have any leads as to boyfriend's death. She just had random suspicions that someone at the club was somehow involved (as opposed to Drug Dealer, a random drifter, some unknown enemy of boyfriend or whatever). Why did Edward feel the need to kill her? As opposed to figure out on the sly what she might know and if she's at all close to figuring out he's the culprit?

Maybe he could have become paranoid about what girlfriend knew. Even so, why set up girlfriend by calling her with a tip and then trying to bash her head in? This seems like it would invite comparisons to the boyfriend's murder that happened in a similar fashion and inspire the cops to look in that direction, in addition to creating the possibility that even if they don't see the connection that he won't get lucky and get away with a second murder.

I had the same brain glitch when I watched yesterday.  Morgan said something like "...he lives in the Palisades..." and the little doomsayer in my head replied "...maybe not anymore..."  I've been thinking for days about all of the different impacts the fires are going to have (too many to list here, my brain has been busy) and the loss of scenic shooting locations is one on a very long list (though very low in importance compared to so much else!).

I thought he killed her because he thought she was getting too nosy and would be figuring things out. He didn't know how much she already knew, but he knew she was poking around.

Why he didn't worry about being caught? Probably same reason a lot of wealthy white guys don't worry about being caught. They tend to get away with things.

Also, maybe he's just a murdery guy. I don't think most people's first strategy when they have a problem is: KILL THEM!! But if you did it once and got away with it, you probably think the cops are not really going to be aproblem. The boyfriend was a cold case. Morgan was the key to solving it, the rest of the team was kind of just tagging along. So Murder Bro's gamble would probably have paid off if not for TV Trope Genius intervention.

IRL, the vast majority of crimes are never solved.

I remember vaguely seeing previews for this show months ago but totally forgot about it until I saw it mentioned in an article I read about the cross over between Abbot Elementary and Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the show I mostly know Kaitlin Olson from, and they mentioned this show in a positive way, so I decided to check it out. I'm so glad that I did, I have enjoyed binging it, I am so close to caught up now! I really like the characters, even the kids, and kid characters are famously hard to make work in a show that isn't specifically about them, and I like learning interesting facts throughout the episodes, like here when we learned about how snow globes were invented and are made.

The outfit was fine for a breakfast date but not for work. She's been doing this for awhile now, can't she make the slightest effort to wear something that even approaches work-appropriate? It's really bugging me that she goes around to crime scenes and interviews suspects in hookerwear. I get that it's supposed to be part of her quirky charm but you'd think someone at the station would say something to her about it.

Thank you I feel the same way. The outfits are so distracting and they are not appropriate for women her age in almost any situation. Not that she doesn’t look fantastic but save that for special occasions. She looked absolutely ridiculous  Pushing that stroller in that get up.Hookerwear for sure!
