S01.E06: Beware the Second Beating

Tommy and Monty — on screen together for the first time!

Tommy starts his day with “more bad news”. Monty starting his by looking at various expensive paintings on his hallway while worrying about the carpet. What a contrast.

Nathan is lying through his teeth when he says it’s not anyone’s fault that the 3 Medina men died. Ariana doesn’t sign her settlement form. I guess we will see some kind of confrontation between Ariana and Rebecca soon.

It’s very considerate of Victor to cover Ainsley’s child support even though she isn’t his daughter. He even writes her a letter. Does Angela appreciate all these gestures? She doesn’t seem to be.

Taylor Sheridan and the pointless shots of hot, young girls in bikinis. 🙄

The dynamic between Tommy and Cooper is more layered and interesting than Tommy/Ainsley and Tommy/Angela.

The hospital scene with Tommy/Ariana and the car scene between Tommy/Dale show the vulnerable and tender sides of Tommy.

Quote

“He ain’t mean enough for this place.”

Tommy’s concern is legit. There’s too much goodness in Cooper and Ariana is trouble.

In a ridiculous series I realize pointing out something completely unbelievable is besides the point.

But the ex wife immediately signing away her property rights is up there. Not only is it stupid but completely out of character. Visiting her daughter - and then her son in the hospital is hardly proof of adultery and the woman we have seen would have said Fuck You and immediately visited a high powered divorce attorney to negotiate an appropriate amount.

And why the child support for the daughter until she is 18? That age is generally only f one is dealing with a biological child. If he has feelings of "affection" for a step daughter it would make more sense to say he will pay for college or equivalent

Demi's Texas accent is interesting. And they're still not doing closeups on Cami's face, lol.

Wonder why Tommy doesn't keep his phone on him at all times?

Ariana snitching on her ex with no hesitation. But at least she got distracted from signing the pathetic settlement check.

Whoa, Angela's ex saw her coming, literally. She probably shouldn't have talked to his attorneys without her own lawyer present.

Why should Angela's ex pay child support for Ainsley? She's not his kid.

Are we supposed to be impressed by the Bentley? Sheridan practically caresses it with the camera.

Is Angela's ringtone on Tommy's phone from Ride of the Valkyries? That's hilarious.

And of course Angela walked in Cooper's hospital room and immediately made the moment about herself.

Wonder why they call it the man camp? Are there no female oil workers?

I can't believe Manuel thought he'd get away with beating up Tommy's son.  He's probably going to wish Tommy hadn't left him alive.

Ainsley is 17..so the child support is only for a few months.

Ainsley has been presented as Billy Bob's biological daughter

Therefore it is odd that there would be child support that would be paid by her step father that would terminate at 18 since typically there is no child support owed by a step parent

Unless for some reason out of the kindness of his heart the ex paid until 18 which is a strange cut off. In that event paying until 18 seems a strange cut off.

But a step parent doesn't generally call their voluntary payments "support" - e.g. presumably he just paid the bills along with the bills his wife accrued rather than having legal "official" child support which is generally limited to bio parents who have a legal support obligation under the law until 18 - custody and child support agreements just specify a specific amount based on parental income and assets.

I think he got distracted by Angela as he was getting out of the car, and he simply forgot it.

Maybe he really loves her, or he feels sorry for her for having a wackadoodle mom like Angela and just wants to help her out.

That wasn't the only time though. Tommy seems to leave it behind deliberately and then his lack of immediate connectivity becomes an issue.

Yeah, I can see that, I just don't understand why it was called child support if it's not legally required. The money is basically a gift or an allowance. Maybe there are different tax consequences to calling it child support? Or maybe Sheridan simply pulled the wrong term out of the sky.

Watching Billy Bob switch the emotion in his eyes from angry concern for his son to instant melting tenderness & compassion when he sees Ariana was such an impressive example of his amazing natural talent. And why I'm down to watch any and everything he's in.

(Even if it's got the  whiff of steroid-pickled uber macho limited brainwaves of Sheridan...)

He knew that she couldn't handle seeing their son in that condition, so it was sweet when he said 'honey, go get a Xanax and come back later' (or something to that effect.)  I'm warming up to her character a little bit.  I'm hoping they dial back the 'ditzy' part though.

Tommy has a lot to deal with.  He's got the business side of things, and now his ex-wife and her quirks to deal with.  He's got to hold everything together.  That's a lot of stress on a person!  His ex is a bit useless to him, so here's hoping she gets a clue and grows up!!

I hope that we don't have to watch anybody else get beaten up on this show. I can't watch those kinds of scenes.  😒

She's 48, bit late to start acting like an adult. She's thinks she can lie on her back, suck a dick and get everything thrown at her, with Victor already replacing her with someone 20 odd years younger, she's needs to wake up and smell the roses and realise she isn't the catch she thinks she is.

Those kinds of women will just keep doing what they are doing and instead of a Billionaire they will hook up with a multi-millionaire probably a little older than the last guy. Men with that kind of money do nothing but work 24/7 and assume everyone is a gold digger. A decent looking woman who takes care of herself and knows how to give attention and please a man tend to get the lifestyle they are after.
