S40.E15: Thinking Thin Era

Bananas didn't realize the puzzle had pictures on both sides of the block until several others had completed the Daily and maybe Rachel was the third to DQ (after him and Aviv).

As for the elimination, the biggest woman vs. the smallest one.  The Challenge loves to have lopsided matches of physical limitations.

Johnny tried to sell it as an even match.  Maybe the producers prompted him to say that.

Jenny herself said it will be an equal match but then she says she's going to miss losing a friend so she didn't believe it would be equal.

And the only reason it wasn't more physical was that she refrained from tossing Aviv off her when Aviv was trying to keep her from throwing the ball over.

Aviv thought if she could have gotten the ball first, she might have had a chance.  No, as soon as she lifted the ball over her head, Jenny would just yank it out of her hands, being taller and stronger.

She had no chance whatsoever.

Looks like the previews gave it away, no elimination.  TJ said there are 10 left.  Then in the previews he said they are the luckiest 10 people.

But that probably means there's an elimination stage in the Final to winnow down the field to probably like 6 for the final stages.

Good mission, good elimination. The rest kinda sludged by me. I hate asking this, but who would miss Aviv?

I'm hoping future players will check all sides of a puzzle piece before placing it. Johnny's meltdown was embarrassing . . .  if it was real. There's always a chance he threw it for some reason, and he was looking to get Teege to laugh behind his back.

I liked the different reactions to the bats.  Seems like people could hear Michele shrieking for a while, heh.  Jordan said something like "It's going to be a bat..." and I thought he was going to say something about the critters but he concluded "-tle."  I think Kyland just said something cazh like "sorry bat" which I liked (I know I wouldn't want one flying in my face, but I'd be more concerned for the bats--oh, and inhaling guano dust, that doesn't sound pleasant--than myself otherwise).

With the scenes of the bats fleeing the commotion out of the entrances in broad daylight, plus knowing the lingerers would be leaving anyway to feed after dark, I'd think the later contestants had a much less batty experience.

When I saw Tori go first and seem not to be able to ooze through the entrance easily I was sure Cory was going to get stuck at the shoulders, but no.

I'm glad Michele had a good birthday, and even though Karl and "Devin" were very silly, it sure seemed a lot more fun than the Nanners side grouching about how they don't like Cara's voice (I mean, come on) and how beautiful their own feet are.   I have heard more about Challenger feet than I ever wanted to know, and I'm not foot-phobic or anything.

And it's pretty rich to criticize Cara for walking the line between alliances when for once (and especially coming off of the latest All-Stars) she is not being ganged up on and isolated by almost everyone.  I would too if I were her.  In other words, shut up, John.  Basically the way everyone else plays the game is wrong no matter what, and if they try to do it like he does, then they are also wrong.

I will note that there are a bunch of handsome guys left (to my taste anyway)....and Johnny.  Lucky for him his feet are so attractive, I guess.

There are 10 people left, 5 men and 5 women.

If the tradition of 8 people going to a final remains alive and well this season, then it seems Jenny just nearly guaranteed that Johnny is going to a final. Kyland wasn't able to be picked as a target. As long as Kyland and Johnny don't get last place on the next challenge, they are likely going to the final.

Unless Jenny wins next week, the person that wins elimination next week will likely toss that target back to Jenny for the final women's elimination.

This season is dragging, I feel like it's been on forever. I am sad to see Aviv go, just for throwback purposes because she won a challenge with my fav Darrell and then we never saw her again. I wish the elimination had been Aviv vs. Michele, a much better matchup and I wish Michele would have lost. The good news is that this is shaping up to be a pretty stacked final.

The daily looked good but also terrifying. I listened to the challenge podcast and agree with Devyn and Davonne, I would have hated to be Tori going first and waking up all the creatures in the tunnel. The double sided puzzle pieces was genius, and I cracked up watching TJ laugh at Bananas.

Will the season go into the new year?  It's been a good season just loooooong.

The past 4 seasons have been 21 episodes so it's safe to assume this one will be, too. And we're only on episode 16! Even with a 2 part reunion, there's still 4 regular episodes left. It's ridiculous. They need to shorten these seasons by quite a bit.

4 episodes…that gives 2 to eliminate one more man and won am and then a two part final.

I seem to have missed it, but how did Aviv DQ? Did she just time out? I know she got lost and it seems like she went down very wrong paths (based on the "X" she crawled over). But for some reason I thought TJ said something about her breaking the rules.

She went the wrong way. Apparently, the little sticks they put up were "barricades" that was supposed to indicate that she wasn't supposed to go that way, and she knocked them down and kept going. Therefore, Aviv was DQed. I think that was the rule-break.

Aviv was on Johnny's podcast. Aviv says she didn't know those sticks were the barricades. She thought the barricades were something that would have actually prevented her from moving forward rather than something she could just move out of the way. Also, her and Johnny said it was pitch black down there. They couldn't see anything so if they bumped into something or if their foot hit something, they couldn't tell what it was that they hit. Aviv couldn't see that it was an 'X' in front of her.
