Some really beautiful scenery in the first episode

I didn't realize there was an episode on at 7, too! I caught the very end when I turned on the TV for 8:00. I live on the east coast, too. Hopefully it's available on demand tomorrow.

I didn't know Mexico had bright blue bees.

Imagine being a baby spider monkey and hanging on for dear life while mom goes swinging through the trees... (I love their little faces so much. 💗)

I've seen 3 eps so far. Truly, some of the most gorgeous video ever.

I'm partway through Ep4

I wonder how the caimans digest those turtle shells. They must have really intense digestive systems.

Also, I'm fascinated by the trees that can make it rain. Where I live, in the summer it if often 95% humidity but it can go weeks without raining, and it's miserable. I would love it if the trees here would cause it to rain. We've been having a drought and stuff is dying-- even though the air is humid as hell, it stays in the air and never reaches the ground.

I enjoyed the walruses lying around chiming and resting. I think that was in Ep 5?

It's really hard to take in how the entire planet runs on killing, though. When I see the lynx and the snowshoe hare, or the wolves and the polar bear, or really any of the combinations of predator/prey or intra-species competition for survival, it's hard to choose a side. I wish we weren't condemned to have to eat or be eaten.

Someone needs to make a documentary about species that cooperate and share. They do exist! But it seems like everybody is jockeying in scarcity and it's painful.

Everyone but the fish seem to get an Aw when getting eaten. Nature is tough but even Man kills and we’re civilized and comfy

I remember years ago - my niece, who was probably about 6 at the time - was watching an animal program where a cheetah or lion was chasing down an antelope. I asked her "do you want to watch something else? That's kinda scary," and she looked at me and solemnly told me "it's nature's way."

I'm hooked on this show!  It reminds me of the National Geographic shows I used to watch.

I do wonder why it's usually the mom shown searching for food for her children.  Where's the father?

With many animals, the male just impregnates the female and skedaddles and the female is the one that raises the young (or a group of females and young). Think bears, elephants and the like. For some, the male and female mate for life and raise their young, like at least some birds. There’s also harems, where there’s one male impregnating all the females in the herd or group and protecting them, like lions, gorillas, etc. With sea turtles, even the female takes off after laying the eggs

The narration and the music are both annoying to me, but the visuals are incredible. I think I've learned a few random tidbits about various species, but it's true there's not an overall feeling of coming away wiser. It's more just the mind-bogglingly gorgeous visuals.

I've watched a lot of nature documentaries and most of them are a little bit like this-- maybe somewhat more detailed in what they teach you, but often not a lot. Although they do tend to have less juvenile narration.

the comfy civilized nature of humans is debatable, in my opinion!

Kinda feels like he's channeling Mr. Rogers sometimes.

Mr Rodgers never acted like mating was a cutesy jokey thing, though.

Any flaws aside, I'm enjoying the series a lot. I can be content with the gorgeousness and the little bits of non-tittering facts that get sprinkled in. I'm grateful for the photography, and really don't feel complainey while I watch. I kind of tune out the parts I'm not liking.
