I will say this I never ever thought a new daytime soap opera would ever come out again. I miss the soaps of the 80's and 90's and not just the ones that got the axe when they had better quality and story. I will give this a chance and hope it is entertaining enough. The glory days are gone but it has to be better then The Mentally ill and the Restless and the awful General Cheap Boring Hospital one is lol.

I was surprised to read that it was a full hour. I kinda thought it would be a companion to The Bold & the Beautiful, which is a half hour.

Actually, I thought it was a half hour the whole time. It wasn’t so much that I thought it would be a companion piece to B&B but I just didn’t think that CBS would invest in a new hour soap. I guess it’s good news for the genre. I read a tweet from MVJ where she said they had completed their first week of taping. So they are pretty much going to be 2 months out with their taping schedule and start date sometime in January. It’s perfect because she can see what’s not working or who needs to be replaced and viewers wouldn’t have to 7 months. Hello Days! LOL!!!!

I'm so excited for this new soap as I'm here for Tamara Tunie!! She's an amazing actress and I've missed her on the soaps(and TV in general) and I was especially excited when I found that Beyond The Gates is produced by the same company that did ATWT (As The World Turns) to which Tamara had been on for years. That said her character sounds very interesting!

And here's some news for the show it will be premiering February 24th, 2025 on CBS at 2pm (ET)

I figured it would be an hour since it taking the spot of The Talk. A talk show given the axe for a soap opera what a nice twist lol.

I thought it was going to start in Jan as well but Feb 24th is still good and gives them time to film and really promote this.  The last new soaps that I ever saw debut were Port Charles and Passions. So lets hope this goes better.

it will be hard to watch so i have to depend on Youtube/Clips of the Day but i pray the writing will be good. and they heavily lean into Good Soap. [not campy soap like Passions lol]  The big thing will be, they hit the ground running. if it can succeed maybe we can get some new soaps. (or a Revival of some of the older ones).

it will be interesting having what it looks to be a fully black soap opera, and i am also very much of the belief that the best soap are ones that are Romance & Social issues - so ideally they can tackle the social issues with great nuances

You can a little piece (a staircase) of the set. I’m curious if they will grand looking like Y&R or everyone living in a hotel like GH. LOL!!!! Since the show is titled Beyond The Gates and they are all apparently rich I’m assuming it will be more grand looking like Y&R and B&B.

I also agree with the the posters above about the start date. I thought it would be closer to the middle of January but now it’s late February. That said, it ain’t horrible. They’ll be about 3 1/2 months out on taping. It won’t be too far ahead if they see, feel or hear (from viewers) that something isn’t working. I remember when Loving premiered they fired and/or replaced actors and dropped stories really fast they didn’t think things were working. Back then the soaps only shot a show a day and didn’t tape so far in advance. It was easier to do.

Time will tell.
