KeithJ October 30 Share October 30 Quote The chefs are feeling the heat. When faced with a pasta challenge judged by pasta experts and owners of the critically acclaimed Don Angie, Angie Rito and Scott Tacinelli, the pasta-bilities are endless. Then, one team dishes out a stellar dinner service while the other must face Chef Ramsay's wrath. Airs: Thu, Oct 31, 2024 1 Link to comment
Yeah No November 1 Share November 1 I just knew Gordon was going to send Magali home, and thank goodness because it was well past her time. I can't believe the others sent Meghan up for elimination. That was one of the most messed up things I've seen on this show in a while. So we finally got to see Anthony for more than a half a second. I've been pointing his face out to my husband as it flew by the screen in earlier weeks and telling him they never show this guy. I'm sure a lot of people saw him tonight and said, "You mean there's an Anthony?" LOL I felt sorry for him after hearing that the grandma who raised him died and he couldn't be at her funeral because of the show. 7 Link to comment
seacliffsal November 1 Share November 1 It seems that there's definitely either a women's friend circle or a mean girls' circle as they used Brittany's tortellini instead of Whit's and then chose to put up Meghan instead of Magalli. Both of those decisions did not make sense to me. Gorgonzola is way too strong for lobster IMO, and Magalli sent 3 Halibuts that just looked awful IMO. I wonder if the other women are trying to target stronger chefs so that the others can go farther in the competition (shades of The Summit in which there's a weak group of participants targeting the stronger participants who may actually help the weaker ones make it to the summit). Anyway, I do enjoy it when Gordon rejects the initial nominees and sends the actual weaker chef home thus demonstrating to the rest of the team that he DOES know what's going on and that he will not stand for them trying to bamboozle him. 7 3 Link to comment
KeithJ November 1 Author Share November 1 (edited) Oh look, another challenge that went down to the last dish (and tie-breaker). They really telegraphed this one though. If the last matchup was Hannah vs Joe, Hannah would have beat Joe at his expertise. If the last matchup was whoever (and I don't even remember who) vs the dish that was made twice, whoever was going to win, the judges were then going to judge the extra dish and say it would have won. I didn't understand the judging between Hannah and Joe. The comments from the female chef were: "I love the preserved lemon in the pasta. It really tastes wonderfully balanced and cohesive because of that." "The sauce is really well made. It's coating the pasta in the right way. Really nice." Looking at just these two comments, she should have picked Hannah's dish. Maybe it was just edited poorly and she said more but she seemed to like Hannah's dish more. And, more crying tonight. Unless I don't remember, the chefs didn't cry this much in previous seasons did they? Edited November 1 by KeithJ 1 Link to comment
Tango64 November 1 Share November 1 How does a head chef and contestant on Hell's Kitchen say, "I've never had tortellini and don't even know what it looks like"? 3 2 1 Link to comment

Even Bobby Flay knows how to make tortellini (usually badly, but at least recognizable). LOL. 4 Link to comment
nitrofishblue November 1 Share November 1 This is a strange group of "Head" chefs. Seems that most have no clue what some food items are. Not knowing what any pasta is really makes them look stupid. A head chef needs to know what food is what. How can they prepare it properly if they don't know the food? For me, there is no chef that stands out. I was expecting much more from a group of "HEAD" chefs. What a letdown!! Pick some cooks from the line that deal with simple stuff like Waffle House. Look what that chef did all on her own. She knew what she was doing!!!! Makes me look at head chefs in a different light!!! 1 Link to comment
AZChristian November 1 Share November 1 Just now, nitrofishblue said: I was expecting much more from a group of "HEAD" chefs. What a letdown!! In my opinion, the teenager who has worked longest at the local Pizza Hut probably considers himself the Head Chef. I'm skeptical that every contestant actually qualifies as a Head Chef in the real world. 5 Link to comment

I know, that really got me. Of all the pastas on that list I would have thought tortellini would be one of the most easily recognizable by not just a chef but even the average person. 1 Link to comment

Honestly though, if he hadn't overruled them, Meghan going up and even going home would have actually made sense. They are trying to prove they can be the head chef at his restaurant. Meghan saw Magail was sinking, taking their whole team down and she just stood there checked out. I mean, I get why the guys have an issue with Egypt constantly giving his input on all things, but on the other hand, not even attempting to save the station you're working on is really not head chef material. 2 1 Link to comment

I see what you're saying, but I guess from Gordon's point of view, at least at this stage of the competition, not being a good chef period is more of a reason to send someone home than not being a good head chef. I'm sure Meghan is going to have to dig herself out of that mistake in the future and if not she'll be rightly sent home. 3 Link to comment
