Then by his own admission, the show is forcing an outcome that would not have otherwise happened. They are stepping in to protect a player they think is most likely to go home and making the players pick someone last minute they weren't even considering.

That's not a game. That's a show that's playing the players. They're not actually letting the players decide how to play, they're making the choices for them.

No, not at all. Since they planned this from day zero, it's not an "outcome that would not have happened otherwise". It's a tactic they use to prevent what usually happens with a large Tribal, one player voted out by a huge majority. Just like Rome.

When you have 10+ voting, it often becomes one person voted out by a large majority. It becomes a defensive tactic to just "go along with the rest", so you don't stand out. When it's only 5-6, as Jeff loves to say, "there is nowhere to hide".

This was a planned tactic. It happened to play really well because of the Tribal layout. But even if it hadn't been five Tukus, it still would have caused chaos. Most likely the vote would have been 3-3 or 4-2, and using this advantage would have thrown that out the window.

Anybody else struck by Sue’s resemblance to Steven Tyler?

The work she’s had is just so embarrassingly badly done. I almost feel sorry for someone who’s felt the need to do all of that to themselves.

Has anyone noticed that apart from first boot Jon, every single player voted out has been Black or Indian?  4 out of 5 Black players are now gone.  Both Indians are gone.  The only minorities left are Gabe, Andy, Sol , and Rachel.

I forget what season exactly it was that Survivor announced they were going to be committed to getting more diversity in the cast.  It used to always be token Black male, token Black female, and perhaps in every other season, one token Asian female.  It was rare to get an Asian male or anyone Hispanic.

This season had 10 minorities out of 18 players.  But constituted 6 out of the first 7 boots.  I forget which season it was when someone sobbed about seeing two Black players go out in a row and it changed their mindset and strategy.

I don't think there is a targeted effort to vote out all the minorities, but it was just interesting to me.  Especially since so many of the votes this season seem to be done out of some kind of vindictiveness (he went after me, so I'm going to get him out).

Sue said to Gabe that she was going to spend time with Rachel so Rachel can't look for the idol.  I've never understood the stigma against looking for the idol.  It's a game, everyone is looking for one.  Also, it was 5 Tuka against one Rachel.  Why shouldn't she look for an idol?  Sue can't physically restrain her from looking, so if I were Rachel I would have just looked anyways.

Sad for Tiyana, because that was quite the twist that had to take her out.

Good challenge, and congrats to Genevieve and Teeny for pulling it out for their team.

Poor Rachel.  Stuck with all of the Tukus.  And the Tribal Council scrambling pretty much laid it bare that, yes, she was the target regardless of the initial scrambling before Tribal Council.  But I think that Tiyana legitimately did want to save and work with her before Caroline essentially shot it down.

Glad to that Sol got the advantage, and he used it well by giving it to Rachel.

Stop trying to make Andy happen, Show.  You can't have him be all talk about wanting to change his destiny in the game one minute and then give him buffoon/clown music the next (like his search for the advantage during the reward).

Intense episode, but an emotional one.

I dislike Gabe and Sue the most on the blue tribe, so I am disappointed that Teyana is out.  I was hoping that she and Kyle would make it happen with Caroline to take Gabe out, but I guess Caroline wouldn't budge.

If Sol hadn't found that advantage, then Rachel would really have been gone.  I thought his acting during Tribal Council was particularly poor.  Of course he is going to want to tell Rachel it was him, so she is loyal to him.  But are the others going to keep asking each other who found it?  Someone muttered "it was one of us" very ominously, in a way that people locked in a house in an Agatha Christie novel start in on each other when one of them is murdered.  It's very difficult to keep secrets on this show because you never know who you can trust, since you never know what other alliances they have going on.

I can't stand Andy.  I still think he is a buffoon.  He's horrible at challenges (first out, no surprise) and he seems to think he is a lot smarter than he is.  He's only being used as a number at this point.

Yes, it always bothers me that all the older women on Survivor are seen as harmless mother figures.  Sue doesn't seem the least bit maternal to me or even likeable, I don't think I've ever seen her smile, unless it was one of her bragging moments.  She just keeps pursing her lips and radiating hatred toward Kyle.

I feel like Sue is out there replicating dysfunctional family dynamics.  She’s the “Loyal Wife” who stands by her man (Gabe) no matter what.  Gabe is like the misogynistic, philandering, narcissistic, politician husband, Caroline is like the daughter who has lived in a bubble her whole life, but thinks she knows more than she does.

Sue is intent upon believing in her own fairytale and will blame the other women for going after her man (Tiyanna) and any well-meaning person who tries to inform her of a truth she does not wish to know or acknowledge (Kyle).

That vicious, steely-eyed, pursed lipped, clinched jaw face says it all.

Cirie was technically an older woman, and I don't think she was seen as harmless.  I think she was always viewed as a threat.

Sue and her unfortunate plastic surgery just seems so unlikeable to me.  Apart from finding that paint pot idol, she's done absolutely nothing in this game except ally with Gabe who seems to be calling the shots.  Does Kyle know how much of a grudge she has against him?  He should have done more to convince Caroline to vote out Gabe.

Tiyana should have said, Sue has an immunity idol, so watch out for her, when she brought up her torch.  That would have been so awesome.

I wonder why more people don't do this.  Instead of "you got me, well played" how about "good luck everyone, watch out for Sue's idol, she's been lying to you all".  Are they specifically prohibited from saying this?  And what would happen if they did?  For once I'd love to see some fireworks caused by an evictee.
