After watching several awful bastardizations of Agatha Christie novels it is so refreshing to see a mystery novel adapted for TV that remains so faithful to the original text. I guess it only happens when the author of the book is also the screenwriter!

That was kind of interesting, I am a little sorry I spotted the lion thing so early, that and The Marriage of Figaro gave away much of the mystery of the real-life murder. I was still surprised by what happened with the murders in the book.

There was one logic flaw for the real-life murders, if that ink (fountain) pen had ever been used (contained ink), there is no way that it could have been used to transport blood from the murder scene to Stefan's bed. The ink and the blood would have mixed and the color would have been very wrong, in a very noticeable way.

Well, I guess that the murder in the book was kind of a red herring and the real clues were all the Lion/Leo things.  Now I don't feel so bad being so confused.

That being said, I enjoyed the series and was happy that Susan and Andreas stayed together and had a happy ending.   I will miss this show!

Pretty sure there was a line when the bride was looking for the pen that it hadn't been used yet.

I'm surprised no one has commented on the piece of the puzzle that Susan missed - the anagram that went up in flames at the end.

That was especially odd since an anagram figured in the first one, and Susan knew he liked to add hidden messages and the like. Maybe she was looking too deep and spotted the lions, and missed the anagram?

The wife said the killer was named in the book. Did she mean the dedication with Leo's name, or did she spot the anagram? Both?

We'll never know.  The revelations were revealed in the same order as the book.  Because Susan noticed the Leo/lion allusions, Susan figured it was these that tipped off Cecily.  The anagram, like the show, was revealed only in the final pages, so it could've been one, the other, or indeed both.

There was another Leo allusion not mentioned in the show that was mentioned in the book. Melissa James's killer Dr Collins first name was Leonard, first three letters Leo.

I enjoy this show, but I thought the Agatha Christie dramatic murder reveal was dumb. Maybe it was a nod to the conversation flashback Susan had with Alan, but in "real life" it just seems ridiculous. Did Susan have one shred of proof or was the whole thing conjecture? Why on earth would someone who is a good enough liar to create a brand-new persona and disappear into it for over eight years just admit to murdering two people without any proof? Sure, they could verify who is Roxanna's father through DNA, but even that does not prove Aiden murdered Frank and framed Stefan. As far as I can see, there is zero actual proof that Aiden murdered Frank. And maybe the police could find real evidence against Aiden for Cecily's murder based on Susan's information, but for her to accuse him without any evidence it just seems unbelievable to me he would cave in that situation. No smoking gun, just a guy who suddenly feels bad? Nope, don't believe it.

I have no thoughts about the Pund storyline, the Madeline Cain reveal felt anticlimactic. I was not as into this storyline as I was in Magpie Murders. I still don't understand why John Spencer admitted to killing his wife when he did not do it? Did I miss something?

I am glad Susan and Andreas stayed together and she went back to Greece, but overall, this season was not as good as Magpie Murders.

Yes, you did. Spencer choked his wife into unconsciousness, but he thought she had died. Unbeknownst to him, she awoke and called Dr Collins.

Thank you! I totally forgot that - as I said, I wasn't into this storyline - clearly, I was not paying attention when this happened!  I was watching this last episode and for the life of me couldn't imagine why he said he killed her when he didn't! I tried googling it and nothing would come up and I didn't have the patience to sit through a YouTube recap of the episode! 😉
