Liked Gibbs talking about the advantage of stopped elevators, a nice callback to him and Franks always ending up doing it nearly every time Franks guest stared in NCIS. Origins indeed:)

Gibbs’ first elevator stop! 😘

Quote

“Stop an elevator, you stop the world. You can look inside a person, see what’s real.”

This episode advances the character arcs by exploring the connections within the team — mentorship, trust, reliability.

Loving the contrast between rogue, brooding Gibbs and by-the-book, enthusiastic Randy.

Mike Franks is as angry as a dragon when looking at Gibbs and Prado in the elevator. 😆

This episode also highlights the strained relationship between Jackson and Gibbs, their generational misunderstandings etc.

We learn a NEW rule from Shannon:

Rule #29 — Learn to obey before you command.

This episode itself is based on Rule #14 — Bend the line, don’t break it. There is a time and a place to bend the rules.

Really liked this episode.
More old school investigation stuff:  I realized they were running around during their chase scenes with no comms. No way to communicate with each other or base camp.
Also, Franks shaves with a straight razor. Now,thats just wacky.

They are trying to emphasize the old with Franks as with his revolver, even if safety razors have been in common usage since the First World War. Even if for decades before you would only expect a pimp to have that razor as a weapon with plausible deniability attacked to its primary usage.

While a mention was made of radioing Agent Franks to get him to the mobile car detailers office as Federal Agents they don't have radios on them like street cops did by that era. I think we are about 10 years away from cellphones with the two way radio chirps.

By coming in after half of the microfiche search was already done by a "joystick specialist" replacing a team white hat hacker pulling up a video that different?

Did I miss the local medical examiner? If not I wanted him, I guess only the mothership and New Orleans had that role in their regular cast.

I have to forget I watched the original when watching this because they’re messing up or have forgotten canon. Yes, Mark Harmon is one of the producers, but co- creator is David North, who was on the show when we first met Papa Gibbs (*sniff* still miss Ralph Waite) in “Heartland” and he and Gibbs hadn’t seen each other or spoken since Shanon and Kelly’s funerals. I just watched it and they said so! SO, Jackson staying with Gibbs and telling Franks to bench his son, never happened!

And DAMMIT! I now really wish Sean Harmon hadn’t decided not to reprise his role as the young Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

Yes, yes, I’m an anal retentive wench. I think I may have mentioned that already.

He also said they hadn't talked since starting @NIS.  But Gibbs said a bunch of things on NCIS, that upon watching later episodes were clarified a bit.

At the beginning of the episode, didn’t Gibbs say he didn’t have a funeral for Shannon and Kelly? Perhaps he will, and it’s after that that Gibbs and Jackson don’t speak again.

Yeah he did, but again in “Hiatus” from the original in season 3, we have a flashback where Gibbs is wounded from the Gulf War, using crutches, and standing before Shannon and Kelly’s graves.

So is this show telling the viewers ( and really, there are a good number who watched the original and remember) that he had them buried but no funeral and to fit the new narrative, funeral probably happened later? Even in “Heartland” Papa Gibbs was asking how his “investigator” job was like, as if he didn’t quite know what was involved.

It smacks of laziness to me is all.
