At least the guest judge knows what he's talking about this week! The guest judge was ballroom trained by his parents, Shirley and Corkey Ballas. He knows more about ballroom dance than most on the judge's panel with the exception of Derek who was also trained by the Shirley and Corkey Ballas. 3 1 Link to comment
TVMovieBuff October 19 Share October 19 I know it's not going to happen, but my Dream Judge panel is Derek, Mark Balas, and Cheryl Burke. All 3 care about classic ballroom technique. They can appreciate a fancy gimmick too. 4 2 1 Link to comment

If Bruno were to retire from the show Mark would be a good replacement. Hopefully with a lot fewer see-through shirts. 2 1 Link to comment
Meowwww October 21 Share October 21 Love Ilona. And her team. Hubby came into the room for a sec and saw the one teammate sobbing and was like “how’d they get the cry filter on her?” I had just started tearing up too so it was good to laugh. Glad Brooks and Gleb are gone, their personalities were very off-putting to me. Chandler makes me feel zero emotion, I am just not connecting at all with her. Phaedra can go. Jenn was NOT HAVING IT . She’s a lovely dancer, very graceful. The dedication to Taylor Swift threw me too for a sec. Mark for permanent judge! I had also just said to hubby that it’s great to give is how back on regular tv, now that they got rid of Tyra. 5 Link to comment

And often too emotionally manipulative. I'm glad the judges called them out on the side by side spins being out of sync. IMO Contemporary consists of the same 8 or 9 moves, arranged in different order depending on who the choreographer is. I usually just fast forward through them. 2 1 Link to comment

The song is "Fix You". Travis choreographed this for his mother's battle with cancer. Robert is Travis in this dance and Alison is Travis' Mom. It is heart breaking, especially at the end. Very moving to me. 1 Link to comment

And I don’t like contemporary in general. Too much flailing without a point. But this was excellent. Link to comment
