I saw it had it's 30th anniversary just a few days ago

It was not like my favorite movie ever but I watched it many many times when I was younger.  I still recall Christmas of 1994 I got it as a gift.  Perhaps the first R rated movie I got a VHS of.

I kind of even as a kid thought the bus flying scene seemed pretty unrealistic but at the same time it was still very successful.  I watched the film a few years ago and what actually stood out is how well acted I thought the film was.  Sandra Bullock was great as Annie and it's still easily my favorite role of hers.  Keanu was good as Jack.  Dennis Hopper and Jeff Daniels as well.  A lot of great side characters as well like Gigantor on the bus or Cameron from the Ferris Beueler's movie character.

The dialogue and cat and mouse games between Jack and Dennis Hopper's character was great as well.

This is one of my favorite movies. I watch it four or five times every year. It's so much fun and funny. A lot of action. I know the bus jumping to the other side would never work but I don't care it's fun. I love how challenge to challenge keeps popping up. The shock when the bus hit the baby carriage. Jack realizing they could drive around LAX and later realizing that the bomber could see them. The last part with the train isn't much fun but the rest of it is. I love Jack, I love Annie.  I love watching the rest of the bus people working together. I love Mac and Harry too.

It had its funny moments as well like Jack trying to get on the bus.

The one guy commented he's got a hard on for this bus!

Or TuneMan the guy he stole the car from, are You Insured?  haha.  before he crashed into all that water

"Shoot the hostage"
"Focus, Jack!"
"Yeah, it's like driving a really big Pinto"
"Take the phone!"
"Jesus...what button did you push?"

I love the movie.  We live in L.A. County and back before it was released, there were always people handing out fliers to get people into review upcoming movies.  They usually listed the genre, a brief description and, sometimes, the actors in it.  We decided to participate in this one.  There were still some effects that weren't finished yet, so you'd see Keanu hanging off the bus in front of a green screen.  We liked it from the opening sequence and couldn't wait to see the finished product.

I love TuneMan's "This is my car, I own this car, it's not stolen." Jack pulls out a gun. "It is now." Being mad at Jack until he saw some impressive driving. I also love when Jack says "I have to get on the bus." And TuneMan "You have too.." Then realizes what he said. "Yeah, yeah you go get on that bus." I do feel bad about his car. That was one nice car.

Stealing my friend's phrase - Speed was way better than it had any right to be. It's just a good movie. I always liked once they got everyone off the bus, there was still about a third of the movie or so to go.

That and his phone.  Back in 1994 cell phones seemed like exotic/luxury items!

Yeah that's where Jack vs Howard face to face again really worked well

I loved Ted Theodore Logan but I LOVED Jack Traven. 16 years old the first time I saw Speed and my crush on Keanu has never waned.

Keanu's all right but I'm not a big fan of a good number of his other movies...

That being said everything I've read and heard about him indicates he's a very humble and down to earth guy.

Neither am I. But yeah he always seems like a nice and normal guy.

Same here. Not a fan of him as an actor, but I am as a human.

I loved this movie so much back in the day and it holds up so well. Great action, plenty of humor, awesome characters, clever plot.

My sociology teacher in high school actually used this movie as an example of how people can develop tight, rapid bonds and form a community in intense situations. She couldn’t show it (rated R), but we all discussed it.

He doesn't run. He chooses dignity.

I doubt there would have 3any time for him to run regardless

The resignation on his face is agonizing.

It was years before the TV Tropes website was ever created, but  even then I remembered thinking how much I hated the cliché that the hero of course had to lose either his best friend or his woman in the course of the movie.
