Oh yeah. I remember bitching  pointing out that retcon since it was never mentioned in the earlier seasons when Ducky and Gibbs would talk about when they first met and worked together.

And in season 8 opener, we are SHOWN that Franks and Papa Gibbs had never met when Shannon and Kelly were killed or when Gibbs first started working together at NIS.

Yeah, I’m taking notes because I have no life.😁😆😁

Should we have a comparison thread like we do/that is similar to Books v. TV? since I don’t want to derail this thread.

That said, if Young Ducky Is shown, I hope they get the same actor!

Vance should also make a cameo.

There's a bunch of characters that need to make a cameo, like that Senator from Season 6.

I started a thread…

Q: Anything on NCIS: Origins?

Quote

This Monday’s episode, “Vivo o Muerto,” is one of series lead Austin Stowell’s favorites. “It’s going to be really, really powerful,” he told me. “There are events within that episode that mean a great deal to the fan base, I hope, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing their reaction to them.”

Was that briefly seen FBI agent Tobias on the Nov. 11 episode of NCIS: Origins the Tobias Fornell? Think we’ll see him again? –Rod
That was the Fornell, yes, and “it’s certainly possible” he will show up again this season, says co-showrunner David. J. North. “We were so excited when we found the actor (Lucas Dixon) to fill the Young Fornell’s shoes,” says the EP, “and he has Joe Spano’s mannerisms down, too. That was pretty cool, so we hope to see him in the future” — especially since mothership NCIS eventually retconned the idea that Gibbs and Fornell didn’t meet until the series premiere “Yankee White.”

Loving the soundtrack on NCIS: Origins. Any chance we will hear some Nelson in a future episode? –Talans
Co-showrunner David J. North claimed to be unfamiliar with that American rock duo when I ran your question by him, “but If they’re from 1991 or before,” he said there’s always a chance.

Is there any chance that Caity Lotz will appear on NCIS: Origins, seeing as her husband (Kyle Schmid) plays Mike Franks? Just a thought from a die-hard Arrow/Legends fan! — Leanne
I like how you think, Leanne! And we are not alone. “We’ve actually talked about that with Kyle — it was brought up one time before — and that’d be so awesome,” co-showrunner David J. North shared with me. “Caity is fantastic, and we’d be so lucky to have her.”

Q: After NCIS: Origins‘ Christmas break ends, what can we expect from Mike Franks?

With the Gibbs/Pedro Hernandez draaaama now behind us, “Mike is going to be dealing with a personal issue of his own,” says co-showrunner David J. North. “Tish asked him to leave it alone when it comes to the guy who assaulted her, but the reality is that not pursuing the person who hurt his person is a difficult thing for Franks to do.”

NCIS: Origins – Could Go Either Way
...
NCIS: Origins’s failure is one of the biggest surprises of the season. The prequel is solid in the storytelling department, but many viewers have rejected it.

Could it be how CBS treated NCIS: Hawai’i? Possibly, but a show about a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs should be a huge draw, and NCIS: Origins isn’t.

The series is currently averaging 3.9 million viewers and a 0.28 rating in the demo.

It's on too late.  Move it up an hour and it would do better with what few folks still watch live TV.

It looks like all the networks are trying to replicate the one Chicago night. Only the 30 year gap makes that difficult and CBS is giving priority to keeping the mothership on the air first. With McGee  getting the huge money that comes being on since the beginning,  even the newer agents should be getting those senority raises.

Over the years NCIS mothership has probably been losing fans reducing a potential Origins pool of viewers.

I think it's well done. Surprising well done.

The newer generation of viewer only wants to binge on what they like. New or different hard to get their attention. That's many shows.

Could be but the show doesn't need Harmon. It can stand on it's own. It's not just about Gibbs.

Actually it is. The premise/pitch was about how Gibbs got started at NIS, which would become NCIS-his origins. Otherwise might as well have cast brand new characters that didn't have a link/history to the original mothership.

Q: I am currently binge-watching the NCIS mothership from the start and I am curious how much NCIS: Origins will either ignore or change events to suit their narrative? If the timing is right, Gibbs shouldn’t be meeting his first ex-wife?

Quote

Hmm, not just yet. The consensus seems to be that Gibbs married Diane somewhere in the mid- to late 1990s, so there is time. For what it’s worth, NCIS: Origins‘ Randy offers Gibbs a blind date with one of his wife’s friends (not named Diane) in Monday’s winter premiere. And I’d watch for Lala’s reaction to that.

Q: On NCIS: Origins, is Tish the mother of Liam (Mike Franks’ long-lost son revealed in NCIS Season 4, Episode 18)?

Quote

“I do have the answer to that…,” co-showrunner David J. North responds. “But I shouldn’t give it out.”
