Snazzy Daisy May 9, 2024 Share May 9, 2024 (edited) Synopsis: Quote Past and present wounds entwine as Rebecca and Cam's alliance is tested. The Virks discuss taking matters into their own hands and the teens use a school dance as cover for their escape plan — all as another life is threatened. Zaffy May 15, 2024 Share May 15, 2024 I would really want to know your opinions about why Rebecca is a character in this story. Why? As a tormented adult who had a traumatic childhood and she can now stand for the young murderers "who just did a mistake"? She is clearly disturbed and in the flashback she seemed like a mini-me of her adult version. WHY she is a part of this story??? Having Cam saying the obvious "this is about justice for Reena" was the first time this show said something significant in favor of the victim. What this series is about? we are in episode 6 and all I can see so far is keeping almost equal distances between the victim and the ones who assaulted her. 3 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146742-s01e06-in-water-they-sink-as-the-same/#findComment-8369105
HerkyJerky May 15, 2024 Share May 15, 2024 From People magazine: "The true story behind the drama sent shockwaves throughout Canada and inspired the 2005 book by Rebecca Godfrey, which the show is based on. BC4ME May 15, 2024 Share May 15, 2024 Somehow I thought this was the final episode. Maybe it's just the mood I'm in but this episode just didn't seem very well acted by anybody to me. I know some of these people are normally good actors. What happened? Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146742-s01e06-in-water-they-sink-as-the-same/#findComment-8369353
tennisgurl May 15, 2024 Share May 15, 2024 (edited) Ouch, Rebecca sure was a bratty kid, no wonder she feels so guilty about her brothers death, which is implied to have been suicide. So was Cam dating her brother? Was she just dating him to be closer to Rebecca or did Rebecca just have a crush? Cam certainly looked a decent amount older than Rebecca in the flashbacks, did they start a thing later in the aftermath of her brothers death? Rebecca has to know how nuts it is to hide a teenager who might have killed another teenager in her parents house after doing acid with him right? I know she's putting all of her guilt about her brother onto this kid, but come on! Kelley really is a monster, at least she's finally getting arrested. I mostly really like this show, but they make so many odd choices in acting and scripting. Snazzy Daisy May 15, 2024 Author Share May 15, 2024 The inevitable finally happens in this episode. Kelly and the gang have been arrested. Two episodes left. It will be interesting to see if these teenagers will try to drag Reena into the mud just to save themselves. Chief Roy Bentland questioning underage Samara without her parents is just wrong. Two scenes that infuriate me the most - Kelly talking pretentiously to Suman in the supermarket and Kelly/Jo coercing Dusty to commit suicide on the train tracks. The conversation between Suman and Raj in the car is really heartbreaking. A simple act of not listening to loved ones can be very damaging. 💔 Rebecca dealing with her trauma and trying to undo her past with Warren are the most UNINTERESTING parts of this episode. She could care less about Warren’s role in killing Reena. “I’m trying to get justice for Reena Virk” is totally the right response from Cam. Rebecca is interrupting the police from doing their work as if her trauma is more important. She’s intrusive and a very unreliable narrator. She tries so hard to control the narrative while Warren himself is ready to face the consequences. Geez Rebecca, calm your tits! We don’t need to see Rebecca anymore in the last 2 episodes but she will appear anyway. 🙄 3 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146742-s01e06-in-water-they-sink-as-the-same/#findComment-8369483

I kept wondering if this was the end and thought it was rather abrupt. Agree that Rebecca is not an interesting character in herself. Her story is not necessary, especially a shoehorned romance with Cam. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146742-s01e06-in-water-they-sink-as-the-same/#findComment-8371392
TattleTeeny May 17, 2024 Share May 17, 2024 (edited) Rebecca is real and part of this story, no? I would argue that if she indeed actually hid out Warren, among other things, then her inclusion in the show is definitely valid and warranted. She is the real writer of the book the series are based into, but she started investigating the crime as a journalist after the kids where arrested and had no contact with them before. What is shown in the series is pure fiction. 1 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146742-s01e06-in-water-they-sink-as-the-same/#findComment-8371786

TattleTeeny May 19, 2024 Share May 19, 2024 As an aside, I started reading this book today. It’s tough, not because of the subject matter but because of the writing itself — reminds me of an unfinished MS and sometimes just notes. So far, not a fan of this writer’s style at all. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146742-s01e06-in-water-they-sink-as-the-same/#findComment-8373263

Instead what we're getting is an author who wanted to insert herself into the story and oh yeah, let's add a romance with a fictional cop and oh yeah, let me hide a murder suspect because he made a mistake. Spoiler I know the real Rebecca Godrey has died but I'm wondering if she was ok being portrayed like this I'll finish it but I haven't really enjoyed it. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146742-s01e06-in-water-they-sink-as-the-same/#findComment-8380993
ferjy June 14, 2024 Share June 14, 2024 I also thought it was the last episode, so looking forward to a couple more. I’m really liking the show. Gripping, if disturbing. But I agree about the author’s character being in this. Completely unnecessary and the focus on her takes away from the more interesting story. Riley Keough is playing the part doesn’t help. I haven’t liked her in anything I’ve seen her in. She just makes it riding on her granddaddy’s (Elvis) tails. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146742-s01e06-in-water-they-sink-as-the-same/#findComment-8392473

It’s important that the WHOLE truth and story be told, and that Includes portraying Reena as realistically as possible 🤷♀️ Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146742-s01e06-in-water-they-sink-as-the-same/#findComment-8397562
