millennium May 8 Share May 8 Another good episode, but it's like you want a meal and all you're getting is an appetizer. I think I'll wait till the series ends, then watch the remaining episodes at my pace rather than Hulu's. 1 Link to comment
tennisgurl May 8 Share May 8 I like Rebecca and Cam alright, especially Cam, but its hard not to be reminded that they're totally fictional characters in the middle of this true story so its not like they can have a big impact on the case, although Cam can at least represent actual cops who worked the case. Kelly is seriously scary, she's just so proud of herself for what she did. I feel bad for Dusty, she at least does clearly feel terrible about what happened, she isn't innocent in all this but she obviously is in over her head and never wanted to actually hurt Reena. Reena trying and failing to light her cigarette really is her whole struggle in a nutshell, she wants to be this badass gangster girl but she is so obviously not pulling it off. The show really has to walk this tightrope with her, what she did to her family is horrible and so unbelievably selfish, but they also remind you that she is still a very young lonely kid who was desperate for friends and doesn't even seem to fully understand the seriousness of what she's done. And no way does what she did justify what happened to her, its still a tragedy that she died before she could mature and really make amends for what she did, and its sad to see the horrible lengths she went to for girls who don't care about her at all. 6 1 Link to comment
Zaffy May 9 Share May 9 (edited) Rebecca is such a badly written character.. and I am not even sure what is her purpose in the story. She is supposed to be the adult that can understand the girls or at least where they come from because of her own past? Well, she comes out as so annoying and not that smart.. I do not think any of the two fictional characters (Rebecca and Cam) offer anything in the story. I have started to not like this show. I am not sure what it is trying to tell, but it does it in a very sloppy way. Are we supposed to feel sorry for the CMC girls? So far the only one who deserves our sympathy is Dusty, cause she seems capable of having emotions and guilts. Jo and Kelly, on the other hand, are probably sociopaths, especially the latter. 7 hours ago, tennisgurl said: The show really has to walk this tightrope with her, what she did to her family is horrible and so unbelievably selfish, but they also remind you that she is still a very young lonely kid who was desperate for friends and doesn't even seem to fully understand the seriousness of what she's done But do they remind you she is still a very young...etc etc? So far they have managed to portray her as bad character or I dunno, mentally challenged. The whole "immature lonely kid desperate for friends" does not justify her actions. I am sorry, but it doesn't. And this annoys me so much, do the writers really know who Reena was? How dare they portray a victim like this? Edited May 9 by Zaffy 2 1 Link to comment
Madding crowd May 9 Share May 9 I was wondering what kind of group home allows the girls to be out at all hours . I know they said they are locked out at 12 but you can get in a lot of mischief before midnight and more if you are locked out for the night.Rebecca letting the girls order her around and treat her like she is their minion isn’t going to end well. The scene where Reena tries to come home and says she is cold really moved me. That’s what parenting is; her dad couldn’t let her in but left the coat. It amazes me that these girls can really think they can just go to NY and become a mobster or go to Mexico and be part of the cartel. 6 Link to comment

Cam is totally fictional, but Rebecca is based on a real person who is from that area and who spent time growing up with kids similar to the teenagers accused of the crime. Before her death, the real Rebecca and the screenwriter spent a lot of time together and Rebecca shared her files about the crime and went over the script with her. So her character is not all made up. https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a60685448/under-the-bridge-rebecca-godfrey-now/ 1 1 2 Link to comment
Snazzy Daisy May 9 Author Share May 9 The look of horror on Jo’s face when Kelly offers her Reena’s Steve Madden boots. Her response by saying “they are not my size” feels like a coping mechanism. The way Kelly killed Reena while smoking a cigarette was pure evil. All because of her hatred and jealousy towards Reena? Does Rebecca really compare herself to Capote in Cold Blood? Delusional much? 🤦🏻♀️ She tries too hard to get Jo back on her side and Kelly sees it. It’s very transparent. Rebecca taking acid at the Crip lair just to prove she’s trustworthy is disturbing. Based on her conversation with Warren G. while high, she’s suffering from survivor’s guilt over what happened to Gabe when she was thirteen. It’s easy for the CMC girls to blame Warren for Reena’s murder as they view him as harmless, making him the perfect target. To Kelly and Jo, their “Mexico” definitely has a much darker undertone - silencing Dusty. Not a fan of this episode as there’s too much Rebecca in it. She’s clearly the weakest link in this series. Am hoping for a big Cam episode next. 🤞🏻 3 Link to comment

I would think the girls would be kicked out if they made a habit out of missing curfew. Or from the drinking and smoking. I know the people who run it can't catch everything, but it seems very lax for the circumstances. Also did I hear the school they all go to is a middle school? I thought they were 15 or 16, but Middle School suggests even younger. Link to comment
Haleth May 10 Share May 10 I was going to ask how old the girls were supposed to be. I was thinking 14ish? Link to comment

That doesn’t change my views on anything here 🤷♀️ On 5/9/2024 at 9:29 PM, KaveDweller said: I was wondering that too.
