Clawdette May 2 Share May 2 (edited) This was the second time this season that I recognized voices. I was surprised that none on the panel thought about Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard. Years ago they didn’t key in on Chris Daughtry, either, suggesting American Idol is not on their radar. Noted, I haven't watched this show except for a couple of clips now and then that friends send me to see "Does this sound like XXX Person to you?". And I don't know, are the judges instructed not to be right on all of their guesses? Because Clay is arguably one of the most recognizable voices from Idol, IMO. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146459-s11e09-soundtrack-of-my-life-group-b-finals/#findComment-8357488
Taeolas May 2 Share May 2 I'm surprised Seal made it through last week (must have blocked it out), but he clearly had a lot of fun in his apperances. Beets vs Gumball is a tough call. I almost want to say it was a planned elimination, but things were really stacked in Beets favour. The Showdown song being a duet was all but a gimme for them. I swear it seemed like they were singing the backup vocals to Gumball's version of it too. (They probably were even if their mics were off). There seemed to be some shenanigans in play with the showdown too; the big reaction when Gumball started and the backup dancers came out... but almost immediately the song continued and those dancers were no where in sight. I'm not sure who Gumball is, but considering they almost certainly are NOT Jared Padalecki or Jensen Ackles, him doing "Wayward Son" (the Semi-official theme to Supernatural) is a major lost opportunity. Beets or Gumball are fine finalists, but neither of them would have won against the other pool finalists we have coming. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a Pool C winner (either of them) at this stage. I'm a bit curious about filming order too. You'd have expected each pool to film independently and remixed as the producers want. But if Pool C was filmed last (as you might expect) then Pool A and B wouldn't know the Ding Dong Bell was already used up. And Nick's comments last night (about it having to be a double elim because the saves were used up) were certainly not ADRed in afterwards. So Pool C probably had to be filmed first... or it was entirely preplanned down to who would be Ding Dong Saved. (Both distinct possibilities) Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146459-s11e09-soundtrack-of-my-life-group-b-finals/#findComment-8357677
blackwing May 2 Share May 2 I thought Beets was better than Gumball. Their harmonies were fantastic. Gumball is good but Beets were next level. Just like how I thought Wilson Phillips and their incredible harmonies as the Lambs should have won over Amber Riley. I wonder if the panel is upset that they used the stupid Bell on Poodle Moth. Beets were way better than Poodle Moth. 3 hours ago, Taeolas said: I'm a bit curious about filming order too. You'd have expected each pool to film independently and remixed as the producers want. Why present Group C, and then move into the final rounds for Group C right away? Wouldn't it have made more sense to go back to start with Group A? This only confirms for me that the entire show is rigged. The decision to use that Bell isn't spontaneous, it's decreed by the producers exactly who advances, who gets eliminated, and who gets saved by the bell. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146459-s11e09-soundtrack-of-my-life-group-b-finals/#findComment-8357822

BMGepinniw May 2 Share May 2 I have found that Gumball has a decent voice, but every performance seems to be rather inconsistent. I don't know if it's his costume or microphone muffling his singing, but sometimes his voice isn't coming through clearly. If it were all of the performers, I would blame my TV or ears. 😉 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146459-s11e09-soundtrack-of-my-life-group-b-finals/#findComment-8357937
GenerationX May 3 Share May 3 I accept and enjoy the show for what it is. I've never believed the "voting" had any impact on who goes and who stays. I wish they'd kept the Beets for the finale. I knew they could both sing, but I didn't know they could harmonize that well together. I'm good with Gumball, though, as he also sings very well. I had to FF through Seal's screeching. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/146459-s11e09-soundtrack-of-my-life-group-b-finals/#findComment-8358654
