ChristmasJones March 13 Share March 13 (edited) Quote Fresh from marrying Michigan inmate Jamal, Lithuanian bride Gabriella heads back home to face her devastated family. Svea's ambivalence of Joseph's art ambition has him questioning their relationship and in the UK, Emma eagerly awaits news of Curt's parole decision. Jessica's spending habits cause major concern from her husband and former inmate, Craig. Edited March 13 by ChristmasJones 2 Link to comment
ChristmasJones March 13 Author Share March 13 Not very snarky, but in the segment with Jessica and Craig, when they were arguing about how much money she was spending, I was thinking, go to a therapist! I was frustrated watching them because it seems like such a resolvable issue. The tension/anger between them hasn't gotten too bad yet, so this is the perfect time for them to do some preventative work before things spiral out of control. Its a big hurdle to go from being incarcerated to being out, with a partner you met while in prison. People go to therapy for much smaller issues. And its not that therapy is some magical panacea, but it just struck me how the cracks are starting to form, but they could do something proactive to change that trajectory. 1 Link to comment
Red Bridey March 14 Share March 14 Jessica is in an interesting position...usually the prisoner feels like he is owed the world after release and has no compunction about spending his partner's money like it's water. But in this case, she's the entitled one, spending his money on crap. Gabi likes to cause her family heartache, I think. She really is quite a stubborn woman. Svea is no-nonsense, thank heavens. Joseph makes *all* the bad decisions. I can't believe he actually thought she would drop everything to fly over for his art exhibit. Is she a millionaire? Does he not understand how $$$$ last minute plane tickets are? I doubt they will "make it." Svea seems to have reached her limit WRT his actual personality. 1 Link to comment
mostlylurking March 15 Share March 15 Gabi is just all sorts of weird. “This is my sparkler.” What grown woman says that. And who even paid for that ring? Did she buy it herself? She’s killing her poor mother. She’s an odd one. I actually thought Joseph’s art was quite good. He has a good opportunity with this. I hope he doesn’t squander it. He should have understood that Svea can’t just drop everything to fly across the world to be at his show, but at the same time she hasn’t been super supportive so maybe that a part of it too. She’s very set in her ways, which is completely fine, but then maybe she shouldn’t be in a relationship. That’s always going to require some support and compromise, even more so if you choose to date someone who just spent his entire adult life up to this point in prison. 1 Link to comment

Red Bridey March 15 Share March 15 There is a reason the cliche is "starving artists." Joseph is delusional if he thinks there are enough charitably inclined people to support his "passion" permanently. Get ready to say goodbye to that apartment, Joe! Get ready to say goodbye to your practical German girlfriend. Svea is grounded in reality. 2 Link to comment
Madding crowd March 15 Share March 15 That woman who was spending hundreds of dollars on baby stuff, where did she think they would get all of that money? They play fast and loose on the timeline here but it looked like she just found out she is pregnant and immediately ordered a million things for the baby. No one buys that much stuff when you are one or two months pregnant. And that was a lot of pressure to put on your husband who just got out of jail. Then he said he previously sent her $15,000-where did the money come from? Outside of Svea and the blond Lithuanian woman, all of these women look alike to me: Heavy set, plumped up lips, heavy makeup, look older than they are. I guess there were no happy endings to any of these stories but I'm glad the one woman moved back to Australia to be with her son. 1 Link to comment

Svea was just expecting a normal type relationship, which would be impossible with a person who just spent a decade in prison. I think they were both being unrealistic. But at least it seems they stayed friends and Joseph’s doing ok on his own now, from the little update at the end. Interesting that the only couples still together are the ones where the guy is still in prison. That reality hits hard. 2 Link to comment
ChristmasJones March 18 Author Share March 18 I'm surprised there aren't more comments here as this is a great show in terms of the level of delusion these women have. I really wonder about the two women who are with guys who have like a few more decades on their sentences. They say this is my soul mate, he loves me so much... but its like a total fantasy relationship. I mean they get calls and letters all the time but they don't have to deal with any of the real life stuff at all. Also a big fantasy about how well-functioning these guys will be when they get out. Spoiler Two of them went back into prison for domestic violence related charges. 2 1 1 Link to comment
endure March 22 Share March 22 I'm just watching S1 Ep10, This is How it Ends.....it says it was recorded on 3/13/24 on my TV box. Not sure if that date is correct. I had actually forgot about the show and thought the season ended. But I don't see a listing on here for this episode either, very confused. Link to comment
