Traitors Around the World: Compare, Contrast, but Don’t Spoil

Recommended Posts

There’s already a spoilers-allowed thread with a similar topic, but since many of us are limited by what’s available in our region (not to mention by hours in the day), it would be nice to be able to discuss the various seasons without spoilers. For instance:

- I’m digging the challenge tracksuits in AUS.

- So far I’m preferring the “regular people” in UK and AUS to the hybrid or reality stars in US.

- All the hosts are fine but nobody can keep up with kilts and mar-darrrr!

- Each version seems to have its own rules about bleeping, with UK seeming  to have the least problem with throwing out f-bombs pretty much as a part of speech.

I’ve watched every season of each countries version.

This is no spoilers, right? So I’ll only say that my favorite season of all was the UK’s Season 2. My least favorite is AUS Season 2.

I actually didn’t mind having “celebrities” on the USA seasons.

From Season 1: Kate and Cirie in the cabin in the woods will never not be funny! 😂🤣😂

Maybe my fave part of all the seasons I've watched.

@ShowsILoveToHate @meep.meepSince you both watched season 2 of Australia, can one of you spoiler tag for me if Sam wins or not, please. Just if he doesn't or doesn't win, I don't want any other spoilers. I just don't know if I can continue watching if he wins lol.

I think my entire reply to you will be in a spoiler:

Spoiler

I felt the same way you did, so I ended up checking online to see whether he won or not  Like you, I was not going to continue watching.  Good news! He does not win, and the finale is extremely satisfying.   👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

On Traitors Canada they don't reveal the last few players as Traitor or Faithful when they are banished.  It bugs me but I understand why they do it.  The Faithful at the end do not know then if they have all the Traitors out or not.

I started watching Traitors France.  They really trust their players.  They do not blindfold them when they pick the Traitors.  They are just told to close their eyes.  Then when the Traitors have been tapped they tell the Traitors to open their eyes and see the other Traitors at the round table.  They are then all told to open their eyes.  I do not think that would work with this US version.  I know some of the reality stars would cheat and open their eyes.

Bringing this over from the US thread since we’re comparing various versions. Regarding players being trusted to close their eyes - I would have to believe that there enough cameras and production crew around that someone couldn’t get away with peeking!

I just finished season 2 of France.  I had watched season 1 before.  They do things a bit different.  They call the murders being banished.  At least on season 2 they wore blindfolds when the Traitors were picked.  The first season they just closed their eyes.  The host really gets more involved at the Roundtable.  He picks people to talk at times so they can't just sit back and hide while others are talking.  They also do not go outside at the end and throw red & green dust in the fire.  They just continue to have roundtables till they are down to 3 players.  They also cry a lot.

May I ask, where are you located and how are you watching?

The French version also did something different.  When they were down to about 7 players they did a jury thing.  They brought back all the Faithfuls that had been voted out.  They sat in a room with the players.  Each player had to stand up and convince the jurors that they were a faithful.  There were still 2 Traitors left at this time.  Then the players left the room while the voted out Faithfuls discussed who they thought was a Traitor.  Then they brought the players back in the room and the jurors told them what one person they figured was a Traitor.  Of course they were wrong.  But they didn't know that.  It was suppose to help the Faithful pick out a Traitor.

I'm only able to watch the versions on Peacock, so that's US, UK, Australia, and NZ.  Even with the US version, I don't watch a ton of reality TV, so I don't know who most of the people are, except there are a lot of drama queens.  But I think the disadvantage of having reality "stars" as contestants is that everyone comes in with pre-conceived notions about them which wouldn't happen with a group of random normal people.

I have a question about the Australian version that I'm watching right now.  Does anyone know why they always talk about the prize amounts as "X number of bars of silver" when they immediately convert it to the equivalent amount of Australian dollars?  Is it just for the drama to show the silver bars or is it some kind of weird legal thing Down Under?

Huh. I always just thought that was a way to slightly differentiate this version from the other countries’. I’ll be interested to see if anyone chimes in with actual knowledge.
