Was that...legitimately good? I think it was. Not perfect, of course. I can't believe they had Kemi give that tedious speech about how when somebody seems like they don't have anything to hide, they really don't, which was all just a stupid preamble to "I did a basic internet search and found a copy of this photo on someone else's social media." Like, lady, why are you wasting our time with bullsh--?

But both the procedural plot and waiting for the Keith test results were legitimately tense. And I'm not at all sure where the Keith plot is going to go next, which is exciting. It really doesn't seem like they'd put the family through all this in one episode--Jason and Nikki trying to accept their son's death only to not have to and all the apologies and forgiveness--just to tear the rug out from them again in the last two episodes. That really would be too cruel. So I guess we're going with him really being Keith after all. So who kidnapped him? What's really going on? Exciting!

Mike is still the best character, even if they're trying to make him cross the line the way the others do.

I was one who was sure it was the real Keith but I would be concerned that Sidney is some kind of sociopath. Not only does she not try to get help for her drowning brother, but she watches her parents fall apart and suffer for years without coming clean. I couldn’t trust someone like that. Keith’s story sounds a bit strange but I’m sure having his eggs read will reveal all lol.

I wouldn't be, but I think it chalks up to the showrunners not thinking this plot twist through. Here's what clearly happened in the writer's room while planning out the season: they were trying to come up with some cool twist for the season. They were like, "hey, someone has to be skeptical. Who should it be and why?" They landed on Sidney, but then didn't think through the reasons why or if it would make any sort of sense.

It's not about Sidney being a sociopath because she clearly isn't. It's more just that the showrunners did a terrible job at thinking through on this plot and not stopping to think "hey, would this MAKE Sidney look like a sociopath?" Hence, the throwaway line here where she says that she didn't say anything because she was afraid of being put back in the foster system (I am curious to know when Keith and Sidney were adopted; if either were adopted as older children, especially Sidney, it could make some sense). But the other issue is that it feels like they didn't come up the reason until they were writing this episode, or they made a bad call in favouring the twist over the explanation. Similar to how we now have to believe that Keith is now a right hander when that makes no sense, and like how they refused to really focus on the Keith stuff and dragged it out for so long.

It was just a piss poor twist the entire time.

But I do agree, there's something else they're choosing to hide until next week's finale and I think it'll be a twist that is gonna piss us all off.

That being said, it's a shame they seemed to finally grasp onto better writing now, when it's way too late since the show's ratings are crap. Could it be renewed? Maybe. Do I want it to? No, not even with this episode being semi-decent (but maybe that's because it focused on Mike).

Kemi was thisclose in being tolerable, even with the stupid egg stuff with Jason, but then she had to bring in the healing circle, or whatever.

It WAS a better episode, the best of the season due to the answers they finally gave us. Still not a good show and I still hope it's cancelled because I don't think they can make the writing better. It's not even fun-dumb like La Brea, either. It's just dumb (and annoying).

I thought it was a pretty good episode, too. It certainly held my interest, both the Keith plot and the missing person. I'm glad the evidence of bone cancer was found to keep it from being ambiguous.

Though I laughed out loud at the preview for next week, when the announcer called what happened to Keith "television's biggest mystery." Like it's on the level of Lost or something...

Okay I am late to the party but why didn't they just test his DNA with the parents? That seems far more definitive than the reconstruction on the bones.

What am I missing?

He's adopted, so they wouldn't have the same DNA. Assuming that's what you mean about testing with the parents? (The show is rather confusing, so I see where you might have missed this!)
