I’m really hoping this didn’t end up as a series finale. Such a good show.

Here's hoping the show gets renewed.  If I had my way, I'd love to see Claire Dunphy give Connor advice on some of the potential pitfalls of running for office.

Goodness, this little show is sweet and funny.

I loved Connor obsessing over the gong almost falling on his head when it actually did fall on Sarah's foot ("aaaah, I've been gonged!). And them him trying to figure out how to serve his fellow man while actual opportunities passed him by was classic.

Marina being all responsible and practical with her emergency planning and then getting totally amped to see Connor drive through the gate was amazing.

This show has grown on me more than I expected it to, but man, some stuff in this episode is really stretching logic.  After what appeared to be a not-major but not-trivial earthquake, with power out and big traffic issues, the fertility specialist's office is still open and expecting patients to come in on schedule?  Okay, maybe the damage was localized?  But you can text to cancel your appointment, then text later to reclaim it?  And the appointment was after dark?  Okay, these big-city folks must keep different hours.  The only believable part was that they'd have to wait another four months if they didn't make it to this appointment.

And the manual release on that driveway gate could be incapacitated by, what was it, rust?  My 40-year old garage door opener has a little rope you pull that releases a tiny latch.  And after all that, the gate turned out to be made out of a few pieces of lumber?  You didn't need a vehicle that could drive through it, you needed a chainsaw or maybe a crowbar!

And of course there's the self-sustaining, free-range twins.

That felt good to get out!  I'll try to think less next time I watch!

During the earthquake, Marina told the kids to get under the table, when the kids were eating outside. I couldn’t decide if that was supposed to be funny.

I can see the humor in telling them to go under the table when nothing was going to fall on them.

On the other hand, they were trying to show how prepared  and in charge Marina  was. If they wanted to make that point though, they should’ve had Marina tell the kids to stay outside and keep away from the windows

Lol, I didn’t pick up on them being outside!  I did remember thinking, that puny little table isn’t going to protect them from much!

You’d have to have some knowledge of earthquake preparedness to get this joke, which this East Coaster doesn’t have. I didn’t realize it was supposed to be a joke.
