Ms Blue Jay December 8, 2022 Share December 8, 2022 (edited) Julien is so uncool this season. If that was the goal of the writers, mission accomplished. Also, why did they have to hire that actor to play Zoya's father. He's even more blah than Obie. Kate's father. ???? Willy Loman much? LOL what WAS that? Anyways Kate sucks so it kind of makes sense. I liked episodes 1 and 2 but tonight I WAS SO BORED. Edited December 8, 2022 by Ms Blue Jay Link to comment

VioletWitch December 9, 2022 Share December 9, 2022 (edited) So now that we know Grace isn’t as innocent as she portrays herself to be, I wonder what her goal with Obie is? Maybe to piss off her mom? Davis being the real owner of the Lott apartment is going to get messy. Just realized— the protestor spitting on Grace’s mom before they enter the museum is the same guy Grace is making out with at the end! Edited December 9, 2022 by VioletWitch Link to comment
Primal Slayer December 10, 2022 Share December 10, 2022 (edited) I want this show to succeed and be the best it can be but....having these characters be treated like Gods with so much power is just really boring. Monte runs the school as a junior to the point where she can kick people out of school for not wearing her uniform....even though they completely ignore Zoya and her bff who arent playing by her rules. It's never brought up! This is a whole storyline just waiting to happen. You have 2-3 main female characters that Monte just totally ignores and they ignore her. The throuple is just flat out played out at this point and having Max having slept with everyone and they all might as well be the same character because all of them act the same exact way towards him. This group of guys in this episode are no different from the group of gays/girl from the last episode and they are no different from any of his other sexual conquests. They are enthralled with him and its "the best sex they've ever had" and its all about him manipulating them to be cool again. All of them watching one of his sex tapes was....not a good look no matter how much the writers are trying to be "sex positive" in this show. Zoya acted like a flat out brat and im not sure if we are supposed to be rooting for her at all? So it's fine for her to lie to her father but he has to let her be privvy to every decision going on in his life? I don't understand what the point of Grace is except to set up a "Julien you were right, you are the love of my life, im so sorry for how I treated you" storyline. They didnt flesh her out nearly enough for that cheating scandal to be shocking. Of course its followed by her mom forbidding Obie from having ANYTHING to do with Julien. I'm not a teenager anymore so maybe...its the adult in me??? but there's nothing cool or likable or funny about Max and co. doing drugs at a work event and running around in their underwear ruining it. Luna continues to be paid dust. The one scene I liked and what we need 10000)% more of is the gang laughing together after causing havoc at the event. I haven't been enjoying the season so far because of this. I agree that the showrunners and writers need to work on GG world building. It doesn't make any sense that Monet has all of this power, meanwhile, the rules don't apply to everyone. Also, why everyone isn't laughing in her face about changing the dress code is baffling. I get that it's high school and all, but come on. It's one thing for her minions to care about what she thinks, but the student body? I'm also disappointed with how vapid Monet is. Luna has more depth. The best part of the season opener was when Camille told Monet off. Camille is an awful person, but the actress is fantastic. It's even more embarrassing that she's trying too hard to get back in boring-ass Obie's good graces. I get why he was mad at her. What she did to Grace was inexcusable, but I like how he spent the entire day ignoring her, yet he called her to run defense at the event. She fucked around and lost her scholarship, and they live in an expensive apartment on the UWS. How does she think her father pays for all of this on a one-income salary? I still don't care about the throuple. Edited December 14, 2022 by Sheenieb 2 Link to comment
TeeVee329 January 15, 2023 Share January 15, 2023 (edited) What the writers are doing with Obie is baffling to me, making it text that he abhores the messy, soapy drama we're watching this show for and that his friends are infinitely more compelling characters. And he's such a jerkwad on top of it, the way Obie treated Julien throughout was pretty terrible. It was funny - when Julien asked Zoya not to unload on her dad at the gala for Obie's sake - to be reminded that the show kicked off with Obie positioned as the prize in a sisterly love triangle. Smart they moved away from that, but versus leaning into his boringness, maybe just get rid? I am a bit curious to learn Grace's deal now that we've learned she is cheating on Obie, plus the tidbit from the BFF that she's not the boring basic she's presenting herself as. Moving on to positives, really liked the calibration with Julien and Monet this week, first with their sniping and undermining antics while trying to befriend Grace, then the nice moment when Monet (in a great character beat) decided she does have a line and it's helping a queerbaiter, and then them relishing in shoving said queerbaiter around. If the show wants them to truly be the new Blair and Serena, this was good work towards that goal. Zoya's snotty look at Nick when he accepted Mr. de Haan's offer, after she torpeoded the other one, was really something. I mean, Nick was lying to her, but girl, don't you like eating? Interesting that Shan now knows the secret about Nick taking Davis' money. I am more sad about what it's going to do to his relationship with Julien when it inevitably blows up versus with Zoya. Shan also had some really funny asides to Zoya on their phone calls. It says something about the world of this show that I was shocked Grace's mom offered Obie a soda versus a cocktail, though he sure was openly drinking wine at the gala. I love that recurring kid Harris, he had a great throwaway moment about being a Met Step 7 and couldn't be seen with a Met Step 5 lol. Kate's storyline with her dad, meh. I do think it's clear the new teacher is working in service of Georgina. Hurry up, G! Edited January 15, 2023 by TeeVee329 Link to comment
