Snow Apple November 9, 2022 Share November 9, 2022 I watched during the first run, but watching reruns in blocks made me realize that Christy is a horrible person. Funny I didn't notice that when I only watched weekly. The worst part is she thinks she's this nice amazing helpful person. But she's judgmental and always rags on Bonnie. Yes Bonnie can be selfish but she also does good things. When she does, Christy digs deep to find a flaw. For example, when Bonnie was in a wheelchair and Christy took over the building, she found out her mom does nice things for the tenants. But she couldn't accept that and tried to prove there's bad motives behind it. Or when the others said they were proud of Bonnie for taking in Tammy, she just looked on with that hateful smug look of hers when Bonnie admits she can't handle it. Christy never forgives Bonnie for the past and brings it up every chance she gets no matter how much a better person Bonnie has become. She wants Violet to forgive her but she refuse to do the same for Bonnie. She also makes excuses for her own actions and get defensive. She made the gang miss the hug lady and still continued smoking. Did she ever pay back Adam and Jill for gambling their money away instead of using it to pay Bonnie's bail? A admit Christy does give Bonnie credit sometimes when the storyline calls for it. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133703-mom-general-discussion/#findComment-7742049
TVMovieBuff April 15, 2023 Share April 15, 2023 This show is deftly written. It is that way in real life dealings with alcoholics, it is so hard to forgive, even when we want to. In it's hilarious, sometimes slapstick way, Mom is very realistic. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133703-mom-general-discussion/#findComment-7960780
greekmom June 7, 2023 Share June 7, 2023 I wonder whatever happened to Regina? I mean was she able to handle the drinking or did she relapse? And did she go down that slippery slope and back into drug? I mean the last scene with her pouring a drink seemed to indicate so. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133703-mom-general-discussion/#findComment-8033450

Since Octavia Spencer is and was an in-demand actress, she didn't make any more appearances so we are to assume Regina kept on with boozing. Who knows if it led to worse, she never checked in with the gang or went to any meetings. Maybe she moved away. That is how it happens in reality, and we are left to wonder. 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133703-mom-general-discussion/#findComment-8033855
GGFan August 1, 2023 Share August 1, 2023 Watching the reruns on CMT. Tonight they aired the episode where Marjorie receives the community award. Can’t figure out why the producers did not use this episode as the series finale. Even though the series lost its spark in season 8 with no Christy, I thought this episode was heartwarming and a nice way to end the series. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133703-mom-general-discussion/#findComment-8093290

They established in a later episode that she was paying Jill back incrementally, by giving her a small amount of money every month. Jill didn't care about getting paid back, but Christy insisted. Even though Christy has accepted Bonnie back, she can't get over comparing things about her childhood. They were her formative years after all. Violet's too. Violet hasn't reached the point Christy did. As she fortunately didn't go down the same path as Christy, she is younger and it is fresher. The show does a tremendous job of showing us how it is. As I remember it, Jill thought it was correct that Christy pay her back. It was Adam who didn't care. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133703-mom-general-discussion/#findComment-8119700
JAYJAY1979 October 6 Share October 6 Been watching the show on Hulu. I think the earlier seasons were inferior to the later seasons. The best parts of the show were the ladies in AA meetings and at the bistro.. much more so then Bonnie and Christy's home life and family. Some even think that season 8 was missing something without Anna Faris.. and I do agree it was different without her there. However, I think the show still gelled and could have gone on another season or two... maybe even adding another female to the group to keep things fresh.. or even beef up Wendy's part. TVMovieBuff October 7 Share October 7 They did add Kristen Johnston as Tammy Diffendorf. I think she was a great add. The show evolved, it wasn't the same in the lattter seasons as it started. It's a testament to the talent in the cast & writers that they were able to steer it in other directions. andidante November 28 Share November 28 I just finished binge watching this show. It was hit and miss for me. I found Christy to be so unlikeable at times and Bonnie to be a bully at times. I loved Jill and Andy. I also loved Adam and honestly don't know what he saw in Bonnie. I found the AA stuff to be the most interesting part of the show. I did miss Violet and Roscoe when they were written out. I don't think they ever mentioned Roscoe's issues with drinking and pot again. Baxter was a hoot! I thought the way everyone treated Wendy was awful! I did like Marjorie and all of her cats, LOL. Did not like Tammy much at first but she kind of grew on me. Just my opinion on it. I don't think he had one -- and I think Bonnie said that to Christy when they were discussing it, that it seemed like harmless experimentation/acting out that wasn't going to go anywhere rather than the beginning of a problem. (Did he drink, too? I just remember him getting caught smoking pot in the hot tub.) Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133703-mom-general-discussion/#findComment-8520751

TVMovieBuff December 7 Share December 7 Bonnie & Adam were true soulmates, both sides of the same coin. It is intimated that Adam had a crazy past too. Bonnie never gave a whit about his wheelchair. The couple I couldn't go with was Bonnie's ex Alvin, Christy's father played by Kevin Pollack. Allison Janney can chemistry with anyone, but I didn't feel it. I love Marjorie, Jill, Tammy. I adore Baxter & Candice. I was glad when the show wrote off the kids. The finale episode where the mother-daughter couple of drunks showed life goes on. Melanie Lynskey and Rondi Reed what a spinoff that would be. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/133703-mom-general-discussion/#findComment-8527121
